We loved the location. The breakfast was excellent too. The staff were always on hand. We landed really early into the city and the staff facilitated our early arrival with securing our luggage so we could explore. They then let us check in early when the room was ready two hours ahead of check in. Also check out their happy hour - some of the cheapest in the city.
I didn’t feel the price was worth the hotel. The lobby and breakfast areas were nice but the rooms were somewhat tiny and needed some updating. For our group of four, two rooms cost us £1400 for 3 nights. Whilst cheap in comparison to others, the price didn’t match up to what we receiving.

The location is perfect for sightseeing around Reykjavik by foot and there are convenient parking lots/garages nearby if you’re renting a car. The breakfast is so good and filling- my husband and I loved the fresh bread and there was such a nice mix of fresh veggies/fruit and hearty proteins. Our room was facing the courtyard so it was nice and quiet for us (and our baby) at night.
Not a dislike, but an FYI for future travelers staying in August: insulation is good for winter but in summer it keeps the room at around 25-27C/ 77-80F so pack appropriate sleep wear.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, we had most of our holiday planned out but I'm not very adventurous with food, they pointed out some great places to eat. Not only that but I had three requests for the staff while I was there, all three got done within the same minute of asking. The room was clean. The hotel was clean. Our room was looking down on the square which was awesome. Every morning at 6am when getting ready for that day's adventure, I would sit in the window and watch the sun rise over the mountains. I and my partner really enjoyed this hotel. I'll be coming back.
The hotel should invest in foot stools for the toilets. I know that sounds dumb but it was fairly uncomfortable. More coffee for the room would have been nice. Change the wall outlets by adding USB outlets too. It's much safer than having to use a converter.

The location is great for getting to everywhere you want to go- an easy walk into town, or the harbour, and only moments from Bus Stop 1 which a lot of tours and the airport buses go from. the staff were great- we had an issue with our room when we first got there and it was managed well for us to move. Its clean, and although there are renovation works going on they don’t cause any disruption.
The only thing to be aware of, as other reviews have mentioned, is the noise on Friday and Saturday nights. The hotel is right across the square from 2 bars that stay open until around 4am on these days and the shouting and noise can be enough to wake you up. Not much the hotel can do about it, and definitely didn’t ruin our stay, but worth knowing about it first.

Nice, neat, stylish room with a scandinavian inspired furniture, roomy, comfy mattress, nice hot shower with all amendes and fluffy towels, hot water kettle, and room with coffee and tea. This is a great way to make a quick snack of Roman et cetera. Breakfast buffet included with room was very nice with several hot items. European flare meats, fish, fresh veggies and fruits. Fresh baked breads and granola bars. A very nice coffee bar. Great shop next door to the lobby to get a few groceries. There's a Gelato shop next to the lobby front desk staff very helpful, especially after midnight late check in due to late flight. They held baggage upon checkout while awaiting hour cab. So we could do additional walk about the city.

You can't beat the location of this hotel! It is right in the middle of downtown Reykjavik, overlooking a plaza below. We had a room on the top floor corner, with a balcony that overlooked the whole city (~250 degree views), including two churches, the harbor, and much of the shopping and restaurant district. It was walking distance to everything we wanted to do in Reykjavik. Overall, the hotel was pretty nice, but it was the most expensive place we stayed in Iceland (but to be expected, being in Reykjavik city center).
"Parking is bad" (direct quote from the front desk person). The hotel does not have any dedicated parking. All of the public parking is street parking and possibly one parking garage, so you need to hunt for a parking spot and then stay on top of making sure you are paid up on the parking.

Breakfast was good - plenty of choice from fresh fruit, cerials, porridge, bacon, eggs, beans saugases, toast, yougurts, pickled herring, hamand chesse and various cakes and bread. Location was brilliant right at the end of the main street with clubs, pubs and restaurants very nearby as was the harbour.
Rooms on the front could be noisy with revellers in square in front of hotel. The room sinks had no plugs. No parking - nearby street parking was expensive but 8 min walk away was free street parking. Make sure you only park in the direction of travel for the particular side of the road.

We thought the Center Plaza Hotel was a great place to base yourself for a holiday in Reykjavik/Iceland. Having stayed in Iceland quite a few times in the past , this hotel was the most central one we've stayed in. All the major bus/coach/excursion companies will drop off and pick up from just around the corner - Bus stop 1 - Vonarstræti 101, 101 Reykjavíkbus. The room was a good size for a standard double/twin room, there are hotels offering much smaller. We didn't have any issues with street noise - however we did stay 'off season' (Jan22). The view from our window was directly across from the main street into the rest of the city - really nice later at night as it was all lit up. The buffet style breakfast was very generous in my opinion and there was plenty of choice (my wife is vegetarian and also had plenty to choose from). All the staff that we interacted with were friendly and helpful. We would both happily stay at this hotel again on another visit to Reykjavik!
Nothing springs to mind.

Centrally located in old Reykjavik. You can get almost anywhere walking. Great staff, efficient and very helpful. Excellent included breakfast in a cafeteria-like setting.
Old Reykjavik has street restrictions that prohibit vehicles like large buses. This is not the hotel's fault. The practical way to get to and from the airport (about an hour away) is the FlyBus. This uses a central bus station in Reykjavik and others buses to get to/from there to your Reykjavik destination. The simple and effective solution is to combine the FlyBus with a taxi to/from the hotel. This especially makes sense when you have luggage and with the common drizzly weather in Reykjavik.

The hotel is located in the very centre of Reykjavik down town, its facade looks on the square with city central activities of its inhabitants. The square is popular with bikers, skaters, city youngsters, locals and tourists. The hotel rooms are clean, the breakfast is for all guests that makes it easier to run their business model. Usually the hotel is with lots of guests due to its good service provided and an excellent location. It was my second stay in the property and I made one more booking at the end of my latest visit to Reykjavik. I do find it a right option (price / service ration) among Reykjavik selection.
