It is not always the accommodation that really matters to us its the hosts and the environment. This was an exceptional week for us because of the hospitality; warm heartedness and generosity of the hosts. The lodge is situated in a beautiful area and acted as a base upon which to see Bantry and the surroundings. Our pet Jack was made welcome and as he is an important member of our family that was a bonus. The breakfasts were overwhelmingly generous. We all had a great time. We are looking forward to returning.
The room was rather small but we understood that our dog dictated our position in the house and that was ok. Perhaps the bathroom could be upgraded.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at this wonderful B&B, and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted by the most amazing and welcoming host. Deirdre's warm and friendly demeanor instantly made me feel at home and set the tone for the entire stay. The room itself was an absolute delight. It was not only impeccably clean but also incredibly comfortable, with all the amenities one could need. From the cozy bed to water provided, it was clear that every detail had been carefully considered to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable stay. It truly felt like a home away from home. The setting of this B&B was simply stunning. Surrounded by natural beauty, it offered a tranquil and picturesque escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. I enjoyed breathtaking views and peaceful moments of serenity during my stay, making it a perfect retreat for anyone seeking relaxation and rejuvenation. One of the highlights of my stay was the host's amazing local recommendations. Thanks to their suggestions, I was able to experience the best that the area had to offer and truly immerse myself in the local culture. Overall, my stay at this B&B was an unforgettable experience, thanks to the incredible host, the comfortable room, the beautiful setting, and the fantastic local recommendations. I wholeheartedly recommend this B&B to anyone looking for a memorable and rejuvenating getaway. I can't wait to return and experience it all over again!
I regret not being able to extend our stay further! We certainly plan to return.

This is absolutely the best place I have ever stayed in Ireland. The location was perfect for us, on the main route but set back from the road in a beautiful, tranquil spot overlooking a small bay. We were there as a family of five, having travelled the length of Ireland and needed to be well rested for a rowing event in Bantry. The beds were excellent and the rooms beautiful, quiet and spotlessly clean. The hosts are the best! Very kind, generous and accommodating. Deirdre literally couldn't have done more for us, helping with lots of simple things that could be a problem being far from home. The breakfast was immense and delicious. I had Full Irish Breakfast each day but there was such a great variety. All the fruit was fresh, there was a great choice of cereals, and plenty of bread every day. I will be back and I recommend Aran Lodge to anyone heading to the area!

Amazing views and very friendly staff - we left a sponge bag behind and the hosts phoned us almost immediately after we left, so we did not have far to drive back to collect it. Comfortable, clean room. The stand out feature of this B and B is the breakfast - the best in our 14 night trip up the West Coast. Unbelievable choice in both quantity and quality. Fresh fruit - strawberries, melon, pineapple and grapes; pastries from Danish to scones; breads from wheaten to plain pan; cereals of every type; cheese and ham slices (good quality) and this is before starting on the cooked selection. Stunning!
The duvet covers were a little synthetic and there was a very slight smell of dog. Very hard to find anything to complain about!

Deirdre couldn't have been nicer. She even dried my swim gear in the dryer. This was a definite plus for a swimmer. The buffet was fabulous, one of the best I have ever seen. There was a good choice of cooked breakfasts and lovely home made brown bread and scones.
There was nothing to dislike about Aran Lodge. However, Google maps had me driving round in circles for a while. The directions in Ballylickey are completely wrong. A right turn should have been a left turn and vice versa.

On a long trip around the whole of Ireland, and with many 1 night stops along the way, Aran Lodge topped the bill for peace, quality, cleanliness, and food. Our hostess Deirdre was very welcoming, the property & room were perfect, and the dining room and breakfast were spot on. Not often we would stretch the full way to a 10/10, but this deserves it.
Nothing - everything we needed or wanted was spot on. 👏👏👏

Huge selection for breakfast all very good quality and efficient service. Our hostess took time to advise us on things to do in the area with full details and instructions - that was really helpful. I loved the 'country house' feel while still modern enough to be spotlessly clean and warm and comfortable. Excellent view over the bay. Good location for travelling. Voilá...3 very happy customers !!
I really can't think of anything that could have been better. Everything was perfect.

Room spotless clean. Best breakfast wife and I had for years. Such a vast selection of fabulous, fresh and wholesome food. I would recommend this establishment to any traveller or tourist. Hosts Joe and Deirdre made our stay extremely welcome. Lots to do and see in this West Cork area. Visit Bantry and Ireland’s most Southern Tip, Mizen Head. Will be back soon
Fabulous Place. Scores 11 out of 10.

The hostess was welcoming, her husband let us pick apples from their orchard (delicious) and the breakfast was varied and delicious. The room was comfortable but above all, Deidre, our hostess, went above and beyond, despite the extra effort it involved for her. She let us stay until after lunch to watch the Queen's funeral, a matter important to these Canadian and Bermudian travellers. This despite the fact she had a busy cleaning schedule after a full house, and an appointment at 1 pm -- thank you to her for her exceptional hospitality. She refused any remuneration -- so generous of her.

The place is really convenient if travelling through. The owners were really lovely and went above and beyond to ensure a good stay. The breakfast choices were amazing and nothing was too much trouble. The setting is very peaceful.
The sound insulation to the room above was not great however the owners made sure that a quiet night was had by all.
