Greta was such a lovely lady and wonderful host! The house was situated in a quiet and peaceful neighborhood, yet just 5-minute walk to reach the town centre. Though our room was not too spacious, it had all the facilities needed by travelers. It was spotlessly clean, cozy and comfortable. The breakfast menu itself was already very good. Greta was so nice to entertain our requests and prepared tailor-made dishes for us. Thank you so very much! Wish Greta and your family all the best, take care!

We heard all the movement and sound of people inside their room upstairs for a short period of time at night. It didn't bother us at all.

I had made a special request months earlier that was accommodated upon arrival without even having to ask about it. Breakfast was home cooked and delicious every day. There was a fridge in the house that guests could use which was very valuable to us. (Also it had ice trays with ice in them!!!) Free water bottles each day. These sound like little things, but they were very much appreciated. Greta and her husband were just as wonderful as all the other reviews mentioned. Genuine and lovely. I was very surprised and honored to get to meet Billy during my stay. IYKYK. This was one of the best places I have EVER stayed based on extreme cleanliness and the welcoming atmosphere. It's located in a very quiet neighborhood only a few minutes walk to the busy town where every restaurant is excellent. The ring of Kerry is minutes away by car with stunning views you'll never forget. I could go on and on. If I return to Ireland, I'll definitely spend more time in the Killarney area, and Algret House will be my #1 pick. (Greta, if you read this, please tell Billy I said hi!)

No complaints; it was amazing and I loved it.

Pros: - Greta was a wonderful host. Welcoming, kind, helpful, and warm. - Breakfast was fantastic (poached eggs I had were perfect), and they have gluten free bread available. - The location is perfect for Killarney. Just a short walk to the main area, but far enough away that you don’t hear the noise from late-night pub goers. - Room was clean and their housekeeper does a great job maintaining things during your stay. - An actual exhaust fan installed in bathroom really keeps the moisture down and as a result the bathrooms are clean and mold free.

Cons: - None, book it

Greta is the star of this property. Welcome home from Grandma is how we were greeted. She clearly takes great pride in seeing to every detail. It's clean and well taken care of. Breakfast was well done and yes the cherry scones she makes are worthy of the reviews. It is on a quiet street and a 10 minute walk to downtown. She was very communicative via this app and incredibly friendly. Our room also had a kettle, tea and coffee, a small desk, two nightstands, a vanity desk and built in wardrobe. We didn't use the tv but there was a small one. There was also a common lounge that doubled as the breakfast dining area. She also provided a small fridge for guests to use which we appreciated.

Room itself was a bit cramped, especially the bathroom but it was clean and well taken care of. I'd hardly call it a con, just a consideration. Additionally there was no window in the bathroom and the bedroom one only opened a wee bit so in the summer it's a bit warmer but the town itself cools down at night.

Greta was the ultimate host… she is my 2nd Mom!! Breakfast had plenty of options and was very tasty. House is on a very quiet street with parking which is a big plus. You can walk to the center of town in about 10 minutes. The National Park is just down the street. 5 minute drive to Muckross House and Abbey, Torc WaterFall, Ross Castle..10 minutes to the start of the Ring of Kerry.. 1.5 hours to Kerry Cliffs, Skellig Boat Tours and Dingle… Just a perfect Host, House and Location… Thanks Greta hope to see you again!!!

Greta, the host, is one of the loveliest, kindest people you'll ever have the pleasure to meet! I felt like she was my "Irish nan" for three days. The cooked-to-order breakfast was delicious, and the cherry scones were out of this world! The room was very clean and bright, with a kettle and tea and coffee. The wifi worked well. The location is very quiet, yet only a quick seven-minute walk away from the town center and the bus / train. The town of Killarney is an excellent gateway to southwest Ireland. Three days were not enough, and I'd love to come back for a longer stay.

Charming little place, an easy walk from the town centre but on a quiet street. Greta was absolutely wonderful, a pleasure to have conversation with but also very efficient and caring as a host. Her scones were among the best I’ve ever had; I wish I could bake mine that nicely!! She even offered to modify breakfast options without us asking, and was happy to let us store our luggage with her after checkout until we could check into our next hotel. This is my second visit to Killarney and I would love to be back for a third and fourth time, and this would be top of my list on places to return to.

From the minute we arrived and greeted by our host Greta until we left with a warm cheerio, this was a great night's stay in what is a very welcoming and well appointed bed and breakfast This was an excellent facility with well appointed room which was exceptionally clean and warm. Good to see that there was bottled water in the room which helped if we wanted to make tea/coffee. Very comfortable bed and the shower was brilliant with plenty of hot water. Breakfast was delicious, all cooked fresh and the home made scones were an added bonus. Algret House is no more than a gentle 10 minute stroll into the centre of Killarney but it is far enough from the centre to guarantee no excessive road noise from traffic. Without doubt if we are ever back in Killarney, we will certainly be looking at staying in the Algret Bed and Breakfast again. A gem of a place at a very reasonable price.

Everything is perfect! Spotlessly clean throughout, ample choice of delicious breakfasts - with the most delectable homemade scones (thanks to Greta), a very comfortable bed, en-suite room, a kettle and plenty of refreshments in the room, a usb socket, a very handy shared guest fridge, a bookshelf and information leaflets/guides are available, great location for walking into the town, ample parking, and a very warm welcome from our hosts. Can’t rate this B&B highly enough.

Greta is an amazing host. Breakfast was the best we had during our whole trip and I want to go back already for her scones! The place is so clean and quiet and charming. The location is perfect for what we needed and we walked into town for all of our activities although we had a car. Parking was no problem either. She also had good recommendations as requested and was easy to contact prior to our arrival (we were running late). Highly recommend.

We could have chosen a bigger room, and will next time. My husband and I are tall and we had a lot of bags due to the length of our stay so we were a bit cramped. There were rooms that were larger and we probably could have switched but were really only there to sleep so it was fine. We happened to be there during a heat wave and very few places have AC in Ireland. The open windows worked a bit, but maybe having fans available for future heat waves (LOL) would be good.
