Like its sister hostel Abigails, Ashfield is a really, really, really good backpackers. Staff here are great. Excellent door security and for a hostel so big, it was super clean. New kitchen facilities.
Rooms are crammed with bunks, as all big city hostels are. But everything else makes up for it. Check in security crosses the line with civil liberties. Maybe chill out with taking photos without asking, you already took a scan of my passport and a copy of my bank card. Pretty sure it’s all in breach of GDPR and possibly illegal. I’ve noted Dublin hostels are full with IPA guests, but if you don’t want IPA people staying, just tell them the truth that you’re a tourist/backpackers hostel for tourists/backpackers/weekenders. Simple.

Excellent location, friendly staff
The cleaner was rude AF multiple times came in to the room at very inconvenient times and again barged in to the room on my checkout day at 9am - I was in my room getting changed and note this was 1.5 hours BEFORE checkout time. She didn't knock and then when she came back she mumbled something to me about still being in the room. I told her to her face she was unnecessarily rude. The management needs to consider retraining if you look at other reviews I've just noticed similar complaints. She really let down the hostel as it affected my feeling of security and privacy.

Comfy bed, quiet, friendly staff and guests, excellent location and an outstandingly good kitchen - the best I've ever seen in a hostel! I've stayed in other hostels recently, including in Dublin, with newly updated kitchens but this one really stands out - there's plenty of cutlery, crockery and kitchen utensils and positive notices reminding guests to clear up and they do!
1, The only drawback is that the toilet is in the ensuite bathroom in the dormitory so you're stuck first thing in the morning if you need the loo and somebody is in there having a shower/doing their make-up or whatever because there's no toilets on the corridor even if you run up or down a floor! Pity! 2. Only glass is recycled. What about paper & card, plastic, etc or doesn't Dublin do much recycling - I've noticed the same in other Dublin hostels?

The location is perfect. I could walk to almost everywhere by foot. The neighborhood had a vivid nightlife as well, which I liked and I still felt safe. Dublin express stops also 2 minutes walk from the hostel.
All was good. It is not modern, but for a couple of nights stay it is perfect. I just slept in my room, took a shower and the rest of the time I spent in the city. I didn’t use the kitchen, so I can not say anything about that. You need a lock to be able to safe your belongings safely under the bed. They can be also bought in the reception area. Lockers are available for a great price.

Nice Staff. I could leave my backpack to visit the city without IT And check in. Quite in the room regarding the noice from the outside. At least in the room for 6 people, which had a windows from the back off the building.
Its very expansive. I never spend 75euro for a night in a multiperson room. Ok it was sat/sun day. But i had booker it much earlier. I had a 2stars hotel to person's room for a night before for 50€The separate tap for cold And hot water in the bathroom is a nonsence. I know that most od the hostel have that. But expansive once like this should afford to change it. Ot you have hot water that you cannot touch the stream od water or cold that the teeth tremble. The water in the shower didnt go well to the basin's sink.

- Localisation: Extremely central; everything is within walking distance. For example, you'll reach the whiskey museum, Trinity College, and Temple Bar in less than a 5-minute walk. - Staff members: The staff is exceptionally friendly, welcoming, and always ready to assist with efficient responses to your queries. - Kitchen: Well-organized and tidy with a plethora of equipment available. - Cleanliness: Common areas are consistently well-maintained. Rooms and bathrooms are regularly cleaned.
- Shower space: Showers are somewhat cramped and it’s challenging to close the doors. - Lack of intimacy: Adding a curtain to the bed could enhance privacy and comfort.

The staff were great. I was able to check in really late during the night after my flight was delayed. The common area near reception was comfy and there were plenty of plugs. Love the vending machine and the kitchen facilities. Bed was clean and comfortable. The room had enough storage and plugs and reading light by each bed. Loved the bench in the room for changing shoes etc.
There were no recycling facilities. The security lockers only took coins. The shower had black mould around the edges of the cubicle. There was no bodywash/shampoo available, free or otherwise.

In general I really did like the Ashfield Hostel in Dublin and I would recommend it. The Hostel was very clean and the staff there really very very friendly! The kitchen was great - it was big and very well equipped! There was no breakfast but there was still free food and other ingredients which we were free to take. The Hostel is located at the O'Connell Bridge in Dublin 2 - just a 5 Minutes walk from the Temple Bar and other amazing Pubs and the Trinity College as well. Next to the Hostel there is the Library and Café "Books Upstairs" - for everyone who loves Bookshops and a nice Coffee in a very sweet location. The place and street is very safe!
The only reason why I would remove only one single point is only the building's interior. My room was in the second floor, without an elevator and behind 2-3 doors. This part is still acceptable as long as you really do not have too heavy luggage - for me it was very much okay- The other thing I did not like so much was that the room in which I was, was too small for three bunk beds - sometimes it was very difficult to move in a way not to disturb the other roommates. Also the plug at the bed was very loose - I was not able to charge my phone at night. But all these things are very much bearable considering the price, safety, cleanliness and the friendly staff!

The Ashfield Hostel in Dublin was in a great location. The person working the front desk during most of our visit was professional, but I wouldn't describe him as friendly. The kitchen, common areas, rooms, and bathrooms were all well kempt and clean. We had a room with two bunk beds that slept four and we had our own bathroom. The bedding and beds were all very comfortable. Each bed had it's own light and electrical socket. I recommend this hostel.
The front desk personnel could be friendlier. The bathroom attached to the four person bedroom didn't have a counter and the shower didn't drain very well. I would still recommend this hostel for anyone looking for accommodations in a central location.

The staff are excellent and really make this hostel one to always consider staying. They really set the atmosphere for the hostel and couldn't be any better, superb! The beds I feel are really comfortable and pillows are decent, larger than many other hostels
It's very hard from this trip to have found something bad. The stairs are old but that is just part of the building. Everything is functional and the room was dry, warm and clean! Don't expect the newest of everything, but this just speaks to how popular the hostel is and the footfall through it
