Hotel was brilliant, the breakfasts were okay but the food in the bar in the evening was fantastic. Staff brilliant and helpful as well. Great location and will recommend to others and stay again in the future. The hotel was a great centre location and close to lots of other bars/restaurants in Westport. Information provided ahead of stay was very good and made arriving at the hotel easy.

Breakfast was okay, could have been better but was nice enough and good start to the day. Menu was good but the fry could have been better, no bread's on the fry other than toast.

The hotel was very comfortable, the staff were excellent. The location was right in the centre of the town. The breakfast was lovely. The rooms were very spacious and had everything you would need. We would certainly stay there again and would highly recommend it. The evening meal we had at the hotel was delicious. There are plenty of places within easy walking distance if you wanted to eat elsewhere.

The bar/restaurant was not open during the day, so you couldn't get a coffee/drink after breakfast until 5pm in the evening. Although you could always use the coffee making facilities in your room.

The Mariner was close to being excellent in every respect. It is very conveniently and centrally located in Westport; a few minutes’ walk from the bus stops on The Mall. The train station is a mere 10 minute walk. Completely renovated a year or two ago, it has a bright airy reception-lounge area with comfortable seating and an atmospheric dining area (The Boathouse) with an attractively decorated bar/restaurant (The Curious Fish). Breakfasts, served in The Boathouse, were exceptional. As it is served at one’s table – no queuing for tepid, soggy, buffet food in this hotel – an on-line booking system operates allowing you to determine when you wish to eat. This avoids the kitchen being overrun with simultaneous orders. The wait staff were efficient and very friendly – a special mention to Fieu (??) for her meticulous service. The menu was a far cry from the standard “full Irish” or eggs on toast, with Vegetarians and Vegans especially catered for. The quality of the food was high and portions were generous. I particularly enjoyed the mixed fresh fruit salad bowl, the grilled halloumi, the west of Ireland smoked salmon, and I have never tasted such perfectly poached eggs, and not just once, but on a daily basis. Best of all, the food was served piping hot! The hotel’s description of their breakfasts as “award winning” is highly merited – and not at all surprising. My room did not have much of a view but those that did fronted onto the main street, so perhaps were noisy. It was spacious, with a full sized, fitted wardrobe which included an ironing board and a proper sized hairdryer. The flat screen TV was a good size and with a fair number of channels.

If was asked could it be improved, my only suggestion would be to make skimmed or semi-skimmed milk available for cereals and maybe rethink the slightly bitter coffee – possibly because I drink mine black. Oh, one more thing, WHY the white ground pepper? I know it is everywhere in Ireland, but it merely adds hotness, not taste; black is SO much preferable. TV channels included BBC1, but oddly, did not include BBC 1 (Northern Ireland) so when BBC1 went regional (for the news), the screen was filled with an explanatory message. Only sachets of Maxwell House MILD coffee were provided - very odd. High quality biscuits, though

EVERYTHING! Best choice I’ve ever made without an actual visit. Spotless! Beautiful decor and layout throughout entire hotel. And the staff was FABULOUS! Ashling and Shelia always provided assistance and excellent recommendations. I would stay here often if I lived closer. A GREAT value for a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ stay in a beautiful town with lovely people!

Nothing!!! It was PERFECT 👍🏼 I regret I didn’t take photos so you could see how thoughtful the design and facilities are. But the staff are the top!

Location beside pubs and restaurants. Nice sized room really warm and comfortable. Excellent shower. Fantastic breakfast freshly cooked and brought to your table. Good strength wifi and smart tv in room.

Nothing that we disliked. We did hear people coming in late one night but it was only for a few minutes and nothing to do with the hotel. You do have to park your car about a hundred meters away but again no big deal, you can unload your luggage in set down area outside of the entrance.

Everything! There was absolutely nothing that we didn’t like about this property- and I stay in a lot of hotels and I’m pretty fussy. The lady who checked us in was very kind. It was quick, she was informative. I said to my friend, I wish every checkin was this quick and easy! Our room was so beautiful and modern, exceptionally clean. Breakfast was probably the best I’ve ever had at a hotel. A lovely breakfast room, everything was served beautifully. A very stylish hotel in a sweet little town. Incredible value for money. I couldn’t recommend The Mariner highly enough.

Nothing! Everything was perfect for us.

The breakfasts including a great staff, were excellent. We have never had a better service in all respects.

Parking is a problem. We would head out touring for the day, and return mid-afternoon to find no spots in the pay lot across the street! Very inconvenient to wait a long while for someone to leave. We realize that this was peak season, but you need to have some recommendation sheet for guests as to where to find overflow parking.

Just after coming back from a 2 night stay at the Mariner our stay was exceptional. From the minute we checked in felt so welcomed and comfortable. All staff are amazing so friendly and helpful which only added to our stay. The food at the hotel is 5 * we ate there both nights because it was so good. The rooms and facilities are excellent and couldn't fault anything. Would defintely recommend this hotel and hope to be back in the future. This hotel epitomises the true meaning of 'Cead Mile Failte'. All hotels in Ireland need to follow suit. Thanks to all for a fantastic stay. Adelaide & Chris Cork

Breakfasts were excellent, would keep you going for the day. The menu gave great choice and variety. We did a sourdough baking course on Friday, with the loaves to prove overnight in a fridge and to be baked the next day. As we were staying for the weekend, we were not able to do it. The staff in Reception and the Chef kindly took care of it for us and baked the four loaves for us on Saturday. The bread smelled amazing and tasted fabulous. Now my problem is to do as good a job at home! I am really impressed by the kindness of the staff and highly recommend a stay in the hotel.

Location was perfect as we had booked to eat at the famous JJ O'Malleys. It was just around the corner as were several bars. Perfect location and a very comfortable hotel. I liked the newness of the hotel, lovely decor and ambiance.

My only issue was that parking was not available on site. I used a paid public car park across the road which was not a major inconvenience if you do not have mobility problems.
