Fantastic atmosphere. The hotel is actually a series of rooms on the 3rd floor of an 18th Century palazzo on a narrow pedestrian road near the centre of Florence. The owners also reside there and are very helpful and friendly, at all hours. The breakfast room has a winding staircase, frescoes on the walls and a view of the Duomo in the mid-distance. There was a bug net over the window which allowed us to keep the window open rather than using the air-cond. The Merlini is just an 8 minute walk from the Duomo and 15 mins from the Uffizi and Ponte Vecchio. Plenty of restaurants in the area. 10 mins walk from the station, if luggage is not too heavy. Otherwise a 12 euro taxi.

Difficult to find as it's on the 3rd floor of a building that also has other small hotels. Once found, the lift works well.

The owners are incredibly kind and warm, always making us feel welcome. One day, we asked for hot water to make tea, and they brought a whole teapot to our room, which was very kind. Our room was clean, comfortable, and quiet, and the shower was amazing too! Plus, the location is perfect, just a short walk to the train station and to the city center.

Even though they always welcomed us with warm smiles and friendliness, we felt a bit hesitant about having to ring a bell to get in as we didn't want to disturb them.

This Hotel is awesome. Very quiet and comfy. It is located at the 3rd floor, you need to take the elevator or stairs. I didnt have the breakfast so not sure about that. But the property is QUIET and clean. The Bathroom is fully renovated. Florence is small, you can walk everywhere from here. Doumo is very close. I highly recommend this Hotel and I would stay here again if I were to visit Florence again. Yes, you need to ring the bell and someone will come out to open the door for you, didn't bother me, more security I am guessing. A very nice Hotel.

Nothing really

Highly Recommend! We stayed 3 nights and enjoyed being close to the tourist attrations while also being a minutes walk to authentic local eateries. The room was very comfortable with a lovely courtyard view (and could see top of Duomo). Safe location and friendly staff; this should be a higher rated hotel!

You do need to ring the doorbell to enter the property, but we waited no more than 20 seconds each time. If anything, I felt like a bother. The bells of the church ring early in the morning, but that should be expected anywhere near the city center.

Our room was lovely and bright with 2 large windows and great views over the city. Private bathroom was perfect. Very quiet at night for sleeping , enjoyed a lovely breakfast with plenty of everything. No problem getting a pot of tea in the evenings when we requested it. . .Hotel hosts were very friendly and helpful. Great location near train station, restaurants and all the beautiful sights of Florence. . Would definitely recommend Hotel Merlini for a stay in Florence.

Liked everything.

The family who own this little place are very kind. You must ring the bell each time you come back to the property which we liked as it felt safe. It is an older style hotel but the bed was very comfy, and the room was super clean. Breakfast was adequate and the owner made good coffees each morning, which was lovely. Location is great, very close to a train station and walking distance to many of the main landmarks.

Nothing

A very warm welcome from the owner of this family run hotel. He was attentive to all our needs and always greeted us, as did the wife and son, with a smile. Very large, comfortable room with everything we needed. Delicious breakfast and very good location with just A5 minute walk to the Duomo, the train station and good restaurants nearby. We would absolutely recommend staying at The Merlini!

The room at the front of the building was rather noisier because of roadworks happening in the road but after the first night this didn't disturb us very much at all.

We had a terrific stay at Hotel Merlini. After several weeks of many hotels/Airbnbs, we were very happy with the accommodations here. One of the kindest families we met in Italy!!! The hotel is on the 3rd floor with an elevator/lift. It is always locked with an attendant to let you in which gave a nice sense of security. The room was large compared to previous rooms we stayed in. It looked recently renovated and very clean. There was an A/C unit that worked great and the bathroom was nice. They also have a small dining room if you want coffee or breakfast although, we didn't use it because we wanted brunch in the city each morning. The location was great being so close to the center of the city and an easy walk to everything. The price was very affordable compared to many others nearby that were 2x or 3x more expensive per night. We will definitely stay here again next time in Florence. Thank you!

There weren't any negatives for our time at this hotel. It was great in every way

Our host Rossaorio and his wife were wonderful and so accommodating. The rooms were fantastic and so quiet after a day spent exploring in Florence. You could feel the pride they took in the upkeep of their beautiful family run hotel. Clean with all the amenities you could hope for while set in a beautiful medieval building. The bright breakfast room was a definite bonus and a lovely way to start our day with breakfast and cappuccinos on the morning.

I loved how close to everything it was, but not right in the action. It was quiet at night. The bedroom had a view of the Duomo! I didn’t want to check out. The room had this timeless, classic style.

I read a lot about the great breakfast but it wasn’t being served during my stay. Would have loved to have saved some money by eating at the hotel but it didn’t affect my experience overall.
