It’s an exceptionally clean and well-appointed property and quite conveniently located… the up and down setup is a joy for the kids and the neat little sit-out area just outside the rooms on the lower level is the perfect recess for parents and adults… for tea or random chats about life or nothing! Plus, you have the shores of Lake Taupo literally a skip and a hop away from your door… you could not ask for more… and you have reception open until 8 PM… in case you ever want to complain about anything… naah, just kidding! The folks are super nice and completely make sure your stay is just the way you would like it to be!

That we could only stay there for a night!

Location! The lake is superb down the little walkway. Safe and easy. Great steaming hot showers Really nice staff willing to help and great to be able to take our little dog.

We’ve been visiting for years as we love the location, the dog friendliness and the lovely staff, but it’s feeling a little bit tired in places like the courtyard gardens and the bathrooms. To be fair, dealing with the black sand of Taupō lake probably takes its toll on the bathroom floors!

We were in Room 4, kt was clean and comfortable. Coming from Auckland to Taupo and with the extremly cold weather outside our room was nice and warm. Thank you for the wall heater, heat pump and electric blankets were fantastic, it made the experience great. It had great facilities, everything you needed. Tha staff were very friendly and helpful.

There was only 1 thing. The taller single bed downstairs in the middle looked like it was a bit broken and not as stable or firm like the other bed.

The location was great, with an accessible pathway close to the lake and a lovely lakeside walk and not far from a new Supermarket and places to eat. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the accommodation was exceptionally clean and comfortable. Lots of little extras included.

The decor was a little dated but everywhere was well maintained.

The location, easy walk to the lake was fantastic. We found our unit comfortable and it provided us with everything we needed for our stay. The laundry facilities were a bonus.

We, unfortunately, heard the people staying in the neighborhood motel due to the proximity of the car park. They would play their music extremely loudly.

Very central, metres from the lake and a walk. Close to tourist attractions. The unit was clean, spa bath a bonus. Great to have a washing machine and dryer to use! Thanks - We liked it so much we stayed an extra night. The hostess was so Accomodating and helpful, we will definitely be back. Thanks for such a lovely stay! ♥️

It was very cosy and very clean. Extras like lavender lotion for the spa bath, complimentary shampoo and conditioner, tea and coffee, added to the cottage-like atmosphere. The bed was very comfortable. If you are staying longer than 1 night, suggest that you book a unit that has lake view (as our friend did) because it has the lounge and kitchen area upstairs plus a small patio, which creates a nicer space to spend the day in.

The motel still allows smoking on the premises! Outside of course but directly outside the unit, on the small patios. We were unable to use our patio until the air cleared after the people smoking beside and above us went inside.

It was just steps from Lake Taupō, kitchenette, great A/C; we had The Nook (smallest unit in the corner but perfect size for two), free washer/$2 dryer, free ice just steps from our door. Very clean, sofa, small kitchen table/chairs, good value. Kayaks and bikes available to rent on property.

Wish it wasn’t carpet (rather worn, tired looking) but rather wood laminate, indoor/outdoor carpet or another hard surface.

Lovely cosy cottage-like unit. Spotlessly clean with everything we could possibly want and more. Unfortunately the weather was miserable but on a nice day it would be the ideal location for a walk around the lake and maybe some kayaking. Even though you are located on the main road noise wasn't an issue.

We noticed there are delivery options for food but we chose to go into town ourselves. We needed to drive as it is a wee way out. This was not really a problem but it was the only thing about Cottage Mews that wasn't excellent.

The room was beautiful and spotless clean. The beds were so comfortable! Our room had a huge spa pool! Kids loved staying here. 30 seconds walk to the lake! We'll go back!

I think the stairs were a bit dangerous if you are traveling with little kids, but I really can't think of any bad things. It was a very nice cottage and with free parking.
