Location. Room size. Balcony. Appearance.

Too minimalistic. Tub was too slippery without any anti-slip mat or base. No bars on side to hold. The shower water spilled over easily outside of the tub and on floor making a mess daily. The tub in itself when used only once caused huge water pool on the floor out-side of tub when water was draining, making a huge mess that needed 4 bath towels to dry. Clearly, that who system is flawed and must be replaced with safer, efficient one.

The location was awesome - the Airport train terminus was right outside hotel, everything you wanted to see was within easy walking distance, T-bane right next door at the Train Station The breakfast was awesome - everything you could possibly want to eat for breakfast!!!! The room was a good size and the separate comforters worked perfectly.

The mini fridge did not work for the first few days. We were offered a different room, however, we managed with ice cubes and the bathroom sink. The tub was high to get out of which for a less mobile person could present problems. Something to think about as we are getting older.

Breakfast buffet was amazing. One of the best I have been too. Great sized room with two seperate sitting chairs which was nice as did not need to sit on the bed the whole time we were in the rooms. Bathroom was a full access shower so easy to get in and out of. Location to the central station and the small shopping centre attached could not be beaten. Convenient for the train from the airport and also the train to Bergen.

The shower was quite small for the space in the bathroom & the way the doors were sealed meant water got everywhere. They are building a new high rise two doors up & the cranes had big lights that shone directly into our room.

The staff was very helpful in storing our luggage for three nights while we took a self-directed Norway in a Nutshell tour, including a trip to Bergen and back via the Vy train. The hotel location is very convenient to the train station, the fjord boat tour terminal, the Opera House, the Munch Museum, and a good selection of restaurants. The room was quiet, clean, and comfortable. We used the Flytoget train to travel from and back to the Oslo airport, which was also very convenient.

Not a fan of the duvet-style bedding that we experienced at the Thon Opera and throughout our trip to Norway and Iceland. The room is a bit small to be able to adequately separate two single beds.

Superb location. Atached to central railway station and just next to the Opera and the waterfront. Comfy bed (though maybe a bit on the soft side) and great bathroom with excellent pressure in the shower (though the knobs to control water temperature were very fiddly). Staff at reception and breakfast were absolutely wonderful. Amazing breakfast (though crowded).

Housekeeping failed to show up one day. Very difficult to control the temperature in the room. Lighting in the room was rather poor. Very limited selection of food for lunch and dinner.

The location is perfect, right next to the train station. We had heavy bags and I was so realized to only walk a few minutes. Plus the streetcars and buses all have stops right outside so we easily navigated the city using public transport. The breakfast was exceptional. A bonus was we got a 50 NOK voucher ever night we declined housekeeping as a going green initiative. The beds were comfortable and the room has everything you need.

I would have liked to do laundry. There is laundry service but it’s priced per item and was more expensive than I wanted. Could be good in a pinch but not reasonable if you have a full load to do.

Location next to the train station was very convenient. Close to the trains obviously but also very close to sights and trams to see the rest of the city. Breakfast was very good.

It was a little bit loud since the taxi stand for the train station was immediately outside. The room was a little too crowded with furniture and it was difficult to maneuver to open windows, get to the bed, use the desk, sit in the chairs, etc. The breakfast is advertised as starting at 6:30 but on the day we left we went down at 6:20 knowing we had an early train and breakfast was fully set-up with about 50 people already eating, it would be nice if accurate opening times were provided sometimes a few extra minutes makes a big difference when catching a train.

This is probably the best hotel I've ever stayed in that's near the central train station. Location couldn't have been more convenient - especially if you plan to arrive and depart by train, it's literally right next to the station - and walking distance to just about all the major sights. Also a much larger hotel than I expected with a beautiful big lobby. We had a standard room which is not big but comfortable. Breakfast is included in the rate and is fabulous - an abundant buffet worthy of being a fancy brunch. Good service too and very secure luggage storage.

Room lock takes one minute to lock - not sure about that feature - to override that delay when leaving the room make sure you touch you key again after closing the door.

We chose the Thon Hotel Opera because it is near the Oslo central train station. We arrived by train and were checking-in at the hotel within 10 minutes. We departed by plane and were on the Flytoget airport express train 5 minutes after leaving the hotel. Other than the super-convenient travel connections, you would not know you were staying at a train station hotel, rather at a modern city hotel. We walked everywhere, however there are plenty of public transit options right outside the hotel if that is your preference. Several very attractive restaurants in walking distance. Also, the hotel breakfast is very good, however crowded but that might have been just our timing.

Many properties are diminishing the human touch, yes? We've grown used to that. But, no specific issue here in that regard, just less "touch".

Buffet breakfast was the best I've ever experienced! Outstanding choices and very good quality. Plenty of staff to clear tables - very organised so no wait times. Hotel very centrally located and main attractions easily reached on foot although local transport also excellent with main train station and metro stop on the doorstep. Room and bathroom a good size and very clean. Windows very well insulated so no noise despite overlooking a main street.

Not a criticism per se but a suggestion: a non slip mat for inside the bath/shower would be good as the surface was very slippy.
