This is a 16th-century Baroque building that has been turned into a boutique hotel. It has a terrace on the rooftop that opens for afternoon drinks. The hotel was easy to find, so we dropped our bags off quickly in the quiet one-way street. The lady on reception gave us easy to follow instructions and a swipe card so we could park our car just outside the walls in a car park for free. We did the reverse as we were leaving. The hotel is in easy walking distance to everything inside the walls. The rooms are renovated and spacious enough. The furniture is eclectic. It was nice to have full-length doors to open at night.

Great location with really friendly reception staff who helped with parking our hire car in a car park, which was free. This is unusual in a Spanish city where parking is usually difficult to find and expensive. Cadiz was fantastic and we both really enjoyed it. The hotel had everything we needed but didn't serve breakfast which was unusual for us. However, plenty of small cafes nearby so we didn't starve! Hotel has an amazing rooftop bar and seating area. However, this was closed when we stayed in mid-October. Great views across the whole city.

A dining room serving breakfast would have been a good addition, however it didn't spoil out stay here.

The owners and staff were very friendly. The hotel has a roof terrace, you can look out at the sea, and I recommend getting something from their cocktail menu. The location is great, the hotel is in/near the old town area and all the sights are within easy reach. La Caleta beach is easily walkable in 15-20 minutes, I preferred to walk along the promenade, you will pass the beautiful Jardines de Alameda Apodaca and Parque Genovés. There are a couple cocktails bars in the Jardine, and I recommend LaColonial. For food, if you walk in the opposite direction, I highly recommend La Bodeguita de Plocia... the food and the staff are equally lovely. The alchofas (artichokes) were so good I kept going back. Opposite is Restaurante Alamar, where I had some lovely grilled Pargo fish. The staff at Hotel Alquimia will no doubt be more than happy to provide some recommendations, they're super helpful and nice. If (when) I visit Cadiz again, I won't hesitate to book a room there again.

Bathroom was nice, the room itself could maybe do with a little modernising... but it was still charming, and I really enjoyed my stay and loved every minute of it. The hotel also has a beautiful internal courtyard, and of course the amazing roof terrace.

A great roof terrace overlooking the Atlantic and neighbouring rooftops where I could have a glass of cava in the evening. Excellent location in the old town close to the lovely Plaza de Mina. Plenty of good places to eat and shops nearby. Everywhere walkable.

There was nothing to dislike. My room was simple but had everything I needed including a hairdryer, tv and writing desk. The bed was comfortable.

The room was very spacious and had lovely artwork displayed on the walls. Excellent WIFI. The hotel is a beautifully restored building with a lovely collection of antiques and lots of potted plants on display. The rooftop bar has a terrific view of the city.

The only thing I didn't like was that my room was very dark and I needed the light on all the time. I would have liked a kettle or coffee maker in my room.

I had my doubts what to get for the price I paid. But it was beyond my imagination. What a wonderful hotel with such an atmosphere. It's beautiful inside with a lot of time related relics, like clocks and quotes from people. The glass ceiling, the nice roof terrace, the entrance, all very nice. Location is very good. Staff was very friendly and helpful. I had a single room, small but nicely decorated. Big enough for one person. I immediately booked for a night extra and was even cheaper than the first night. Had a wonderful stay there.

Nothing negative to report.

Nice hotel with a roof terrace on the edge of the historic city center. The option for parking was perfect and our room was surprisingly big. The house is gorgeous with a garden on the 4th floor and a historic courtyard. Wifi was good and the personnel was very friendly and happy to help. The location is very convenient to see beautiful Cadiz.

The bed was not very comfortable, if someone heavier is sleeping next to you you will be sleeping on an incline. The pillows were much too flat for me, but I have to admit I prefer thick pillows - anyone sleeping on their backs will probably be fine with the pillows.

Good location and the rooftop patio was wonderful.

We chose the hotel because free parking was available. However, the plastic card that the hotel gave to us to pay for the parking was not valid. We asked a Spanish resident of Cadiz to help us. She tried the card also and the entrance machine also said that it was not valid. We then parked at a closer lot that cost 15 Euros. It took a long time to do this and was an inconvenience and cost 15 Euros. When we told the hotel owners, they said we were trying the card wrong and they would go with us to show us, but we had already wasted one and a half hours. They did offer us a free drink on their upstairs patio. The hotel is nice, but I would not choose it if you want free parking.

The hotel is located in one of the narrow side streets which made traffic noise almost non-existent and the friendly staff made for a very pleasant stay. For a keen walker everything is within range and there are bars and restaurants close by. The hotel is within 15 mins walk of the train station assuming you don't get lost - Google maps is a handy tool to navigate precisely (other apps are available). Excellent wi-fi, clean rooms, and nice internal layout due to the building's age.

No breakfast is offered as far as I could see. There are not enough hooks or shelves in the bathroom for your things, but I did notice markings for drill holes above the sink for a shelf that had sadly not been fitted to date, and was really missed - a common weakness for hotels. The aircon also didn't work, and some mosquito fighting equipment would have greatly improved my stay (aircon if cold enough tends to ground all members of the squadron(s) operating in the bedroom airspace). The beds are a little hard and basic, and few hotels understand that sheets and *blankets* are the ONLY combi nation that ensure comfort for every person and time of year.

Fantastic heritage building in a great location. Quiet and spacious room and walking distance to all the main sights. Hotel has a large room in the ground floor which can be used by guests. Unfortunately the rooftop bar was not open on the days we were staying but it must be gorgeous on a summer evening! The staff were great and the recommendation for tapas/restaurants excellent. Car park was close by and luggage can be dropped off at the hotel first. Would highly recommend!

It was all good.
