First, I would like to mention that my review below is for Victory Hotel, part of collectors hotels along with Lord Nelson and Lady Hamilton, and not for our initial reservation for Hotel Nelson, as there were renivations going on during our stay. We were proposed to switch hotels and we definetely were happy about this. Attention to details - for example the temporary tatoos (free of charge), the ornamented corridors (like maritime museum). Also the rich breakfast - especially the salmon and herring, which is not typical for other parts of Europe. Special sweets for St. Valentine. Marvelous coffee. Everyone could prepare tea and coffee free of charge on each floor - useful for colder days. Also - the staff prepared a breakfast to go (fresh sandwiches and coffee) at 5.30 a.m., as we have to catch a flight. - Lication - of couse. 5 min walk from all the sites in Gamla Stan. No need to use public transport. Convinient to come back for small rest if needed.

A small incovinience was the check-in at 15.00, as we arrive earlier (12.00h), and unfortunately the room was not ready. I highlight that this was as announced on the site of the hotel and in the reservation - just no luck for the day of our arrival. The staff was very kind. We gave our luggage for safekeeping (free of charge).

This was one of the highlights of my trip! What a charming hotel! The place oozes character and authenticity. Numerous items are antiques, taken from ships, and what they reconstructed from this, really makes you feel like you are on board a ship. While being a small hotel, they had some unique amenities--there is a library on the second floor with floor-to-ceiling window that overlook the main shopping drag in Gamla Stan. There was the "poop deck" on the top floor, where you can sit outside amongst the tin roofs of the Gamla Stan. Based on the view up there, it is HIGHLY unique to have a deck up amongst the roofs. And oh, the sunset you can get up there, with a view of the church spire in Riddarholm, and the tower of City Hall. Breakfast was petite, but sweet--individual Weck jars of fruit, individual carafes of orange juice, hand-packaged bags of muesli, etc. Same to be said of my room (petite and sweet). It was the length of the bed, and not much wider in the other direction, but it worked great for me, a solo traveler. The bed was slightly wider than a single bed, and it was raised off the ground so I could keep my suitcase underneath (very practical). There was a big window in there, which helped with lighting and lending a sense of expansion. Honestly, the room was very small, but I loved it. And finally, the location. So central and walkable for Stockholm; and I find Gamla Stan to be incredibly safe. Additionally, the bus stop is 2-3 blocks away, and that can get you to the front door of the Arland Express. The tunnelbana (metro) is 4-5 blocks away, and that had two lines that went there, so your options were endless for where you could get to. I will say the hotel is on the main drag for shopping in Gamla Stan, so there are a ton of tourists outside the front door throughout the day, but that also means that there are shops open later, if you are hoping to do some shopping after most other stores in Stockholm close.

I had no complaints this trip! I will say though, I have the smallest hair of resistance about returning to Lord Nelson's if I have someone traveling with me, simply because I don't know how big the room for two people will be. My room was designed for one person only, so maybe a room for 2 does have more floor space in and around the bed so that you're not getting in each other's way. Most likely I'll give it a go, because I loved the charm, amenities (poop deck/library) and location of the hotel so much, but it is something sitting in the back of my mind.

Ahoy! This hotel was perfect for me! My summer travels theme was boats, and it fit right in. I loved all the Lord Nelson related kitsch and was quite fascinated by the story of the family that collected all this memorabilia -- also for its two nearby sister hotels. I loved my cabin-like room and albeit it was small, it was quaint, comfortable and a great value, and I fell in love with the adorable Ship Night Light. The (twin) bed was super comfortable and the shower was fantastic -- and though it was warm out, the heated bathroom floor was nice to have. The breakfast was not a huge spread, but just right with a good variety. The location was excellent, in the heart of the Old City (Gamla Stan) so close to everything. As I was there in the high season, the area could become packed with tourists, but that's the price you pay to be in the best location. For what was provided, I felt this was a great value for the price. I'll be back!

I liked everything about this quaint hotel. If I had to find one improvement: The room is small, but a small kettle would have been a big plus. I like to make my own coffee. To be informed: I had asked for "a room with a view", but didn't realize that with the narrow streets (like 5' wide!) make that impossible. I don't fault the hotel for that, as it is in the old town and the streets are very narrow. I didn't realize that until I got there, though the hotel gave me a higher floor in an effort to give me a nicer view. :-)

Comfortable bed, central in the old town, almost no noise from outside. In the breakfast, I liked the yoghurt with jam, the orange juice, and the eggs. It was nice how everything was prepacked in small WICK portion glasses for every guest.

There was a constant noise from inside, I think air circulation or something like that. When I blocked the outlet with a plastic bag and used ear plugs, it was inaudible, so I could sleep well. The bed was making a little bit noise when moving as well. In the breakfast I didn't like the cheese so much, would prefer something less cheap. Also, it's a pity that the bread was empty early always, then only toast and cheap bread was left. But I liked the rest of the breakfast, see my positive points. There were only Swedish TV programmes, also there was an option to connect the laptop to the TV but that didn't help because I need VPN to watch internatonal TV and the wifi of the hotel doesn't allow VPN usage.

A lovely little hotel that follows the sea ship theme. The interior designer surely had some fun. The single room is small, but cleverly furnished, and so is the bathroom. The bed first looked narrow, but it actually wasn't. The location is the best in town, in the middle of a vibrant pedestrian street. The world famous Stampen (Pawnshop) jazz/blues bar is a few corners away. The staff was nice, friendly and smiling.

My window overlooked a narrow alley, and I could see what the neighbor was having for breakfast :-) By the way breakfast. It was okay, but could have been a bit bigger variety, and maybe some simple cooked food, like omelette (there was boiled egg though).

The location was phenomenal. Easy access to everything you could want to see. Breakfast was simple but good. The staff were very helpful and accommodating. The room was exactly as advertised. We would for sure stay here again.

The room was a bit small for a 2 week stay, and there was no A/C. Both of these things are common for historic European spaces though. It was a bit loud outside at night, but that’s what we prepared for with such a good location.

Edited: Re-writing this review, as I just realised that I had posted a review here for another property. My sincere apologies to Jack and everyone at Lord Nelson. This is an amazing hotel in the center of the old town of Gamla Stan, and we couldn't have made a better choice for our stay. Lots and lots of memorabilia and old maritime antiques displayed in the hotel make it a sort of a mini maritime museum if you appreciate one. The rooms resemble ship cabins which is a great added touch, and I think we had one of their best rooms overlooking the street. Great choice if you want to see the old town over the weekend!

Can't think of anything! If we're in Stockholm again, we'll certainly pick Lord Nelson again!

The location is right in the middle of the old part of Stockholm, with plenty of charm. The room was a bit on the small side, but nothing problematic, as you have room for luggage etc. The theme and interior really has its unique aspect and was well received by my colleagues that also stayed at the same place. The street at night is mostly calm, meaning no noise nearby to disturb your sleep (at least that's how it was for me). The staff was helpful and welcoming. The beds were soft and to my liking. I slept well from the very first night.

The view out the window was straight into a kitchen in a household on the other side of the alleyway. I kept my curtains covering the windows.

It's in a really good location with lots around it and public transport is very easy to use if trying to go somewhere far away. The beds were very comfortable and it was very clean on arrival. The staff were all very pleasant and breakfast was nice.

The room is quite small. Some things are inconvenient, there is no security box in the room however you can drop it off at reception but it would be nice to be able to do it in the room and the plug socket was far away from the table or bed so it was slightly inconvenient. Still a very good stay though.

- Great little hotel with an amazing location in the middle of the old town - friendly personnel - close (12 min walk) to the train station which brings you directly to the airport

- Everything was great - I actually booked a hotel room in the Nelson Hotel. Due to an overbooking I got rebooked to the Lady Hamilton Hotel which is simply a 2 mins walk away - It was not a problem as I had a wonderful time at the Lady Hamilton Hotel - I'll come again!
