The hotel had a lovely northern charm, the room was small but very nice, the beds were comfortable and it was very clean. The location right in the old town was brilliant and it was really quiet, even though it was only 2 minuted from Gamla Stan Station. Breakfast was very good with everything you could wish for and a great options for vegetarians, vegans and people with allergens, with a separate fridge with bread, dairy alternatives and even a separate toaster for gluten intolrant guests. Oscar the breakfast chef was super friendly and even provided gluten free pancakes. It put us in a good mood to see such a friendly face in the morning.

The breakfast was excellent with a variety of hot and cold dishes. I requested porridge a couple of times, which the chef happily prepared for me. The breakfast room was cosy, comfortable and clean.My room was tastefully decorated, the bed comfortable although it was a tight squeeze getting to the other side. Could be more difficult if there are 2 people. The location of the hotel couldn't be in a more convenient place but in a quiet street away from big foot traffic and various noise. Reception was very friendly and helpful. I enjoyed my stay at the Gamla Stan and I recommend it highly.

Guests should be aware that taxis can only park near the hotel at certain times of the day. You need to factor this in to your plans because you might be required to drag your suitcases along the cobblestone streets to meet the taxi next to the train station. In my situation, the taxi didn't arrive at the entrance to the station, which was my understanding, so after waiting for some time in the windy conditions, I dragged my suitcases back to the hotel to report this, then back again to the station for the taxi. All annoying and difficult for an older woman. This situation can be avoided if you leave within the prescribed time the taxis have to enter the street or catch the train.

Fantastic location at the bottom end of the old town. On the doorstep of all the sights you want to see as a visitor and all the bars and restaurants, ferries etc. Clean, tidy and well equipped room. Lovely, friendly and helpful staff. Awesome rooftop terrace accessed by a lift which should be a tourist attraction in its own right! Brilliant and very extensive breakfast. Really enjoyed my stay and I would happily stay there again.

It would be great if it had its own bar on the roof terrace. No A/C and the room was a bit hot but the fan made it ok. But these really are minor quibbles. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and hopefully I will return in the future for a longer visit

Great location in Gamla stan, 2 minute walk from bus stops and Tunnelbana station (metro, 1 stop from Stockholm Central station), 5 mins walk to ferry to Djurgården. 15 minutes walk (or 1 stop Tunnelbana) to big shops in Norrmalm. Polite well informed reception desk, Breakfast beat all expectations - fabulous and the breakfast chef and staff are a credit to the hotel (probably the best I have ever seen). No restaurant or bar but there are so many right outside the door that it's probably not needed (and they sell some bits and pieces of food/drink at reception if you arrive at an awkward time of day). And there is a small roof terrace on 4th floor with comfy chairs so nice if you want a bit of sunshine or to cool off at the end of the day. Old building so the rooms (at least the one we were in) are charmingly modern but old fashioned at the same time and they say not possible to retrofit air conditioning. Loved the wooden panelled lift. Couldn't find anything to dislike.

This is a simply presented hotel in a great location in the old town. Whilst it looked a bit bland from the outside it had character and the room was comfortable and well equipped. We had a standard room and the bathroom was quite small, but manageable with a good shower. The hotel put on a very well presented breakfast buffet. Whilst there is no bar or restaurant it is right in the middle of an area with plenty of options. The reception staff were cheerful, helpful and efficient. One nice feature of the hotel is a roof terrace - a good place to take a coffee and enjoy the Swedish sun. It was very well located for getting around Stockholm, either on foot or via the nearby metro station and the excellent public transport system.

The breakfast was super! Lots of choices, fresh fruit, eggs, cheese, meats, cereal, etc. The kitchen staff was very friendly and accommodating. Definitely a highlight. Rooms were spacious. Very quiet rooms. Also the location is wonderful… very close to the Metro, which we used to get to and from the airport. Otherwise we walked all over! Good restaurants just down the street. Enjoyed both Lilla Gastabud and Slingerbulten.

The rooms could use more light. The light in the middle of the room was like a chandelier but it wasn’t working.

Location was good, but the area clearly for tourists. The sense of an old neighborhood is absent. I believe a lot of the buildings are now office space, especially upper floors. The rest are to support the tourists. But there’s still a lot of charm. We liked the bedside lighting so one could actually read a book in bed. That seems rare these days.

See above. The room was quite small and there was very little storage so we lived out of our suitcases. If the weather had been rainy it would have felt a bit cramped. Only one chair, a desk chair. However, it was fine for 4 nights, for the price.

Really a nice hotel! The location is perfect to explore Stockholm, in the middle of the old town with pubs, restaurants, and sights within a few footsteps, yet since it is one road down from the main pedestrian thoroughfares of the old town, it is absolutely quiet. The rooms are in a really cool style of an older house but the bathroom and facilities are absolutely up to date. The breakfast was superb! A huge choice of local Swedish food, as well as the classical bacon, eggs, and sausage stuff, a large choice of good bread, smoothies and fruit.

The lift is really small, twopeople with suitcases will not fit in easily. Yet this is not something to criticise, after all it is an old townhouse and was probably not purpose-built as a hotel, and this is what makes it so special.

Situated perfectly just one street off from the old town. A small hotel in a quiet street only one street away from all of the bars and restaurants and shops. The hotel does not have a bar and we did not have breakfast but this is not needed as everything is at your doorstep. Our room was clean, the beds were really comfortable and the decor was very much of a vintage style that was really lovely.

No tea or coffee facilities in the room.

This is a nice place to stay. The location is really good. The staff are very nice and helpful. If you are expecting luxury with bells and whistles, it's not here. The house is very old, in a conservation area, so they can't put in fancy air-conditioning and other mod cons. It's quirky, the Standard Rooms are furnished with antique furniture, my bed was very comfortable. I loved the feel of the place, the wonky stairs and the funny elevator. Breakfast was lovely! There was a little bit of noise from the outside but it did not bother me. It's a bit of a lottery the size of the room that you get, they are not all equal but that's because the building is very old. My bathroom was small but modern and the shower was great. I travelled alone, and felt safe and comfortable here.

I cannot be critical, because it's really good value. If you want luxury and soundproof windows, air conditioning etc etc, then you are going to pay twice the price.
