I had a wonderful 1 night stay here. The room was clean, cute & cosy. I had “Dormouse” room with a small balcony with stunning views. Comfortable bed, small en-suite with toiletries provided. The hosts were extremely friendly and I really felt looked after. I had my lovely evening meal here too. I chose continental breakfast and the fresh summer fruits were beautiful. Nothing was too much trouble. I would definitely stay here again, it was the perfect base for me and Bradwell is such a lovely village.
Nothing.

The owners were really kind and accommodating, let us check-in early as we had a wedding further away which we weren't sure what time we would be back from, the room was really sweet and cozy, honestly the comfiest hotel bed I've ever stayed in! The room had everything we needed and complimentary tea, coffee and biscuits which is always lovely! We didn't stay for breakfast as we set off early the following morning but I imagine it would have been great :) definitely recommend staying here, lovely staff, cozy rooms and a good price!
Nothing, it was lovely!

As a retired woman travelling alone, I was a little apprehensive of a pub with rooms. I need not have been. Owners were friendly and ensured I felt safe and welcomed. Room was lovely, had balcony overlooking village church and hills. Hot shower, fluffy white towels, comfortable bed and bedding. I ate in the restaurant and food was good and well priced. Bonus that dogs are well catered for and welcomed with blanket to sleep on. Recommend to any female traveller with a dog companion. You will both be made welcome.
Tv was too small and high up on the wall. Badly positioned where the light made the screen dark. Often couldn't make out picture but sound was good.

Run by a lovely, friendly, accommodating couple. The bar, restaurant and housekeeping staff were pleasant and helpful too. We stayed in room 3 which was great - huge bed, good power shower, lots of space. The room did suffer from thin walls and you could hear the noise from.the bar a little but we were warned about that and with ear plugs it was no problem. We ate dinner there one night and the food was good, honest pub grub done really well and the breakfast was absolutely top notch too. For the price charged, this is an absolute bargain and we'd absolutely stay again.

We were met with a warm welcome and all of the staff were amazing, making sure we had everything we needed to make our stay perfect. The food was lovely, nothing pretentious on the menu and priced fairly as the portion sizes are generous. Our room was a decent size and very comfortable with everything we needed for our stay and it was spotlessly clean. I loved sitting on the balcony, the views were beautiful and I found it very relaxing to just sit and watch the world go by. We can't wait to return, the Shoulder of Mutton is situated in a beautiful part of the country and it's such a lovely place to stay.
There was no bath but that's not a deal breaker, the bathroom wasn't big enough for a bath but had a lovely shower in it. I guess I don't really have anything negative to say.

Fantastic location, very friendly and helpful staff couldn't do enough for us. All the locals made us feel welcome and we were asked to join in with there entertainment which we accepted and had a great laugh doing the Sunday quiz. The walk into Castleton was beautiful through the w.oods, past the cement works (which is massive and a fantastic bit of engineering) and then into the magical village of Castleton. We will probably return in summer to see the other side of it. Great part of the world with superb scenery. Thanks to Lynne and all the staff, Have a Merry Christmas and the Best New Year, from Steve and Lorraine.

I had a room with balcony. Great place to enjoy your coffee and book. Food served in the pub downstairs is very tasty and price will not kill your wallet. I had all my meals there (breakfast and dinner). Facilities in the room are excellent. Kettle, selection of coffee, tea, hot chocolate and biscuits. Everyday new set comes to replace. Very lovely people running the business, they remembered me well from last year. Yes, I am a returning traveller.

Lynne, her husband and the entire team at Shoulder of Mutton are very warm, welcoming and ensured we had a lovely stay. The bar area is cosy and had a roaring log fire lit for us to warm ourselves up after a somewhat frosty walk around Chatsworth House. The pub was busy with a large function in the restaurant but this did not adversely impact on the excellent service for drinks and meals. The menu was typical of a village pub but wow the quality was excellent - I had the steak and ale pie and husband had the steak - both were excellent. We managed to fit in a brownie dessert and it was delicious. Breakfast the next day was very good value for money - continental options available and hot options too with Lynne only too happy to mix and match items to one's own preferences and everything cooked fresh. The rooms were compact but spotlessly clean and we had a lovely balcony which we had coffee on in the morning - the bracing cold air helped wake us up after a lovely sleep in the comfy bed. it was so lovely to see a bustling pub clearly serving the needs and wants of its community. It was even nicer to meet Lynne and her husband and I am already planning to go back to taste the homemade lasagne. Thankyou for a lovely stay.
Nothing to add

Our hosts were wonderful, very friendly, nothing was too much trouble. Rooms very clean and comfortable with well themed decor. Bathroom and shower were spotless. Despite being opposite the church chiming, the double glazing kept most of the sound out. Breakfast options were great, either continental (fruit, cereal, yoghurt, toast, pastries etc) or, for a little extra, add all you can eat mix and match to order cooked breakfast (lots of options). The balcony with the room was a refreshing facility, bistro table with two chairs to enjoy the beautiful view and some fresh air. If I pass that way again, this would be my “stay of choice”. Unless you have a problem with stairs, I highly recommend!

Really lovely homely pub. Extremely welcoming & informative. Nothing was too much trouble. The rooms was fabulous as was the bathroom, all spotless. The breakfast was very nice & plenty to choose from. Didn't have an evening meal but what we saw come out of the kitchen looked very nice. Very accommodating & dog friendly, our boxer (Trevor) was made more than welcome, towels to wipe his muddy paws available also.
Nothing, all was very good. No issues with anything at all.
