Located in the centre of the Peak District the hotel provided excellent access to all the park has to offer. Personalised parking is provided and excellent communication from the hotel made finding the hotel easy. Our room was very comfortable with a beautiful bathroom with all the ‘extras’ included. The bed was very cosy and had we no trouble sleeping. The restaurant too was first class. Breakfasts were both plentiful and very well cooked and presented. Evening dinner was similarly excellent. This is not a cheap hotel, however you get what you pay for and we were very satisfied. The staff here were lovely and very helpful in all ways. We thoroughly enjoyed our four nights here and could not think of anything to have improved our stay.

Beautiful hotel! Rooms spotless, beds actually comfortable, even my daughter's camp bed! Loved the bathroom with the stand-alone bath; powerful shower too. Just strange that out room had no window, just a remote-controlled skylight with blind. The restaurant was beautiful also, as was the food. We were even offered at complimentary drink each! Breakfast was also of a high standard and plenty to choose from; all table service. Overall, we had a fantastic stay in this little "Mecca" in the middle of nowhere! Thank you to all! Would definitely recommend.

The food service was extremely slow. We waited an hour between stater and main courses. It then took a half an hour to get one coffee afterwards, then the bill.

We had such a lovely stay at the Merchants Yard, celebrating my friends 40th, everything was just right. The accommodation was beautiful and very comfortable with everything you would need. It looked like it had been newly renovated and was spotlessly clean. The staff were fantastic, really welcoming and helpful. From the start with booking they were in contact with us ensuring that we had everything we needed for our upcoming stay. We had afternoon tea on arrival which was delicious, everything was freshly made, and there was just the right amount. We then had the tasting menu in the evening which once again was perfectly cooked and delicious. Breakfast was also really nice with real sausages and bacon and a decent portion. Couldn't fault anything, thank you for a lovely stay.

Nothing everything was perfect!

Loved the decor, very comfy, there were nice small touches such as offering local branded toiletries to sample and a thoughtfully stocked mini bar. The food was great and the location was perfect for what we were looking for. Very clean and would definitely stay again.

Upon check in we were greeted by the management team and staff at reception but during our two night stay that was the only time we saw them. During the breakfast service there was only one front of house staff on each morning and they had to seat, take orders and deliver breakfast but were quite overwhelmed having to rush about with more than one table seated at the same time. Service was unfortunately slow, things were forgotten and toast was served cold as a result. Not the fault of the staff as they were doing their best in the circumstances, but it was clear the restaurant needed a manager/front of house to support. Some rooms do not have windows, only skylights so although well decorated can feel a bit closed in.

We absolutely loved The Merchant's Yard from the moment we arrived! we had been allocated a parking space and as soon as we walked into the building, the staff were super friendly and professional and the building oozed quality. we stayed in room 6, a beautiful , spacious and well appointed room , full of quality touches. we dined in the restaurant and the food didn't disappoint. good variety of choices on the menu, breakfast of equal quality and the gentleman serving breakfast was lovely also. We like it so much, my partner wanted to book second night but as it was sadly booked up, it's just leaves an excuse to go back!

nothing.

Very welcoming. Had all our requirements. Food was lovely as were the staff. Important personal touches helping you feel valued customers. For example, names by car parking space, complimentary drinks, chocolates in room, settings for breakfast, waiter service for breakfast, guest night for restaurant meal. Gordon, the breakfast waiter, provided exceptional service; nothing was too much trouble for him.

Only point was bathroom not cleaned daily.

A really lovely place to stay and I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. I hadn't stayed at a 'restaurant with rooms' before so wasn't quite sure what to expect. The room was large, very comfortable and had all the facilities we needed plus a few nice little welcome touches. The Velux window controls take a bit of getting used to and there are no windows to see out of but then there wouldn't be a view so it's no biggie. There is an allocated parking space on arrival with an electric charger if needed. The staff were all so friendly and welcoming. Food is rather good too! We had the tasting menu one night and the Sunday roast is truly among the best I have ever had.

At the moment, the restaurant doesn't open on a Monday and that seems to be a common theme across the village and wider area but apparently that is being reviewed at the moment and may change. When the only other thing I can think of is that the pump action soap wasn't that great at dispensing you know there aren't really any negatives.

We had an excellent stay at the Merchants Yard for my partners birthday. Very clean and modern, the special touches were appreciated. The breakfast was delicious, and we had food in the evening which was also superb. All staff were fabulous, and explained everything and looked after us. We booked the hotel for the electric charging facility, and were impressed to be given our own allocated space. Tideswell is very peaceful and a great location to walk to Millers Dale, and easy to drive to a variety of places for amazing walks and sights.we did arrive for the annual food festival which was entertaining, but otherwise a very quiet place.

The Merchant's Yard massively exceeded our expectations - all the basics were fully met with really nicely laid out rooms and all the details you might want (e.g. luxury toiletries, bathrobes etc). The full English breakfast was one of the nicest I've ever had ANYWHERE and the Sunday roast in the restaurant was also top quality. Service was impeccable with everyone being super friendly and helpful. However, it was the range of little extras that really took them to 10 out of 10: the named car park space, the welcome drink at the bar, the luxury bath soak. Highly highly recommend (and I spent 150 nights in hotels in 2023)

Nothing - this hotel has it all right

Great all round experience at this upmarket/boutique hotel/restaurant/pub in the heart of the Peak District. Although the staff all seem very young they all knew exactly what they were doing so check in and dinner were all handled in a warm friendly and professional manner. We were in one of the new rooms which was very well appointed and had a huge en-suite plus a fresh mini bottle of milk in the fridge which was a nice touch. We were also given a complimentary drink each which could be taken at the bar or even at dinner, whenever you wanted. The food was decent but not perfect (my triple cooked chips were sadly soggy) but it was a bank holiday weekend which is often not the best time to judge a kitchen. On the whole the menu and food were very good plus a nice wine and cocktails list. Lastly you get a dedicated parking space with your name on it in the small hotel car park, another nice touch.

The large king size bed was 2 beds pushed together with 2 separate mattresses so there was a big gap in the middle of the bed Other than that nothing not to like
