Lovely decor and furniture. Staff very pleasant. Bedroom in main part of the hotel was roomy. Fan provided without asking for one. Excellent choice of cooked breakfasts. Liked being able to stop for coffee well before check-in time. Very pleased to find that the hotel is part of the Auckland Regeneration charity.

The room (4) was unbearably hot in unseasonal hot weather. A fan had been provided but we had to open both doors and prop them open to get any reduction in temperature. No sign of air conditioning which needs to be considered. Rather startled at having to pay extra for breakfast.

Travelled up from Cornwall with a friend to attend the funeral of my cousin in Spennymoor. What we hadn't realised was the Park Head Hotel was newly opening on the day we arrived. We were greeted by very friendly staff and a welcome glass of bubbly, what a bonus. The twin room we had was large, well equipped and lovely and warm. The beds were really comfortable and the bathroom spacious with a great shower. The dining room was inviting and the breakfast enjoyable with a great choice. All in all we could not fault a thing. We hope this Hotel goes from strength to strength it certainly deserves it. Many Thanks.

Nothing not to like!

The hotel is very welcoming. It's clean and comfortable. The room we had was larger than the ones in comparably priced hotels (Travelodge for example). The hotel has recently been refurbished and is both smart and comfortable. It is part of the Auckland project which aims to promote tourism in Bishop Auckland and so support regeneration of the local area. It is ver conveniently located for local tourist attractions; Locomotion, Auckland Palace, Kynren, etc and those slightly further afield such as Durham city, Beamish, Barnard Castle. We had our evening meal in the hotel bar. The portions were generous. The steak pie appeared to be home made. The chicken caesar salad was delicious. We will definitely stay here again when we return to visit County Durham.

Our ground floor room was next to a main road and I was concerned that traffic noise would be a disturbance. However I slept well.

Room was clean. Staff were friendly.

Didn’t have breakfast as felt it was too expensive (£14.50pp). Traffic from the main road could be heard from our room with the windows closed. Even though the room felt warm (maybe due to thick duvet) this didn’t cause us any real issues. However, it could be an issue in the warmer, summer months as there was no air conditioning,?so opening the windows would be necessary. Maybe a summer duvet would help. TV picture was only standard definition. No bins for pet waste at hotel, even though we stayed in a pet friendly room. Could do with one in the courtyard which appears to be where the pet friendly rooms are located.

Staff were very friendly, the rooms were clean and modern. Gardens and outside seating areas were lovely, several areas to sit and relax outside. Inside the bar and resturant were modern, meals were reasonably priced and delisious especially the breakfast, would advise to book B&B not just room as better value.

No Wifi in rooms only main part of hotel. The room we had a connecting door to the next room, although it was locked I could hear the person in the other room and the TV, I would think they could hear us too and was contious of trying not to disturb anyone.

The hotel and rooms had been recently refurbished and we're immaculate . The gardens and outside seating area made you feel like you were abroad. A very pleasant surprise. The staff were friendly and the food was good. Breakfasts were cooked to order and portions were very good. The hotel was easy to find with the satnav, and was very close to Auckland castle .

Would have liked air-conditioning as it was a warm night of our stay and you could hear the traffic passing through the night. These things however didn't spoil our stay .

Good selection at breakfast, continental and cooked. Evening meal was amazing, had the chicken pate and goats cheese starters followed by a roast. Staff very friendly and couldn't do enough to help. Very pet friendly place to stay. Especially like our ground floor room which was very clean and spacious. Location is perfect for walking the Auckland Way. Although the road was nearby, we found our room to be quiet and well soundproofed. The courtyard is very pretty and again, the staff were so welcoming and did everything they could to help. Thank you for looking after us, we will be back.

Quite a lot to like. Great location close to many castles and attractions. Room was spacious and had everything we needed. Dog treats and toy left for dog. Room was toasty and warm on arrival. Shower was a good size and powerful. Restaurant on site. Very nice food. Very good prices. All staff were friendly and helpful. Loved the colours in the bar and restaurant.

Nothing really. Recently opened and outside spaces still to finish. But this isn’t a negative it will be even better when the landscaping is done. One point I would make is it needs an outside bin as is dog friendly nowhere to put the dog waste. That would be useful.

All the staff were extremely pleasant, efficient and helpful. They clearly enjoy working here. The rooms are new and fitted to a high standard. For example the shower is very powerful and modern. The food is outstanding: fresh, cooked to perfection and beautifully presented. It is definitely worth having dinner here as well as breakfast. The guest quarters are set around an attractive Mediterranean style outdoor seating area.

We found nothing to criticise at all.
