This is the 3rd time that I have stayed at The Maidens Chambers and on each occasion, the welcome has been warm, the rooms comfortable and spotless and the facilities are all that you need for an overnight stay. The hotel is located on the edge of the city centre, but that brings with it the benefits of free parking on site and all that Canterbury offers is within a very short walk.

The road can be noisy during rush hour, but each room that I have used has had double glazing and that was sufficient to reduce the noise. An indoor seated breakfast area would be an advantage, but there are plenty of options nearby.

Dating from 1446, but thankfully updated since then, this is a cosy establishment which, despite the rooms being being above the pub, is not noisy at night. Several of the rooms have wooden beams which add character. The host and his staff were jovial and helpful, and the evening meals, whilst mainly burger-focussed, were good. Located a couple of minutes walk from Canterbury East station, and 5-10 minutes walk into the old city centre, including the Cathedral. This was the second time I'd stayed there, because I'd enjoyed the first time.

There is no breakfast option, but that's well advertised, and we knew that. A shame, because it would have been nice to have eaten downstairs in the olde worlde bar.

Good value for money. Our room was spacious and had everything we needed. Free parking was available. Plenty of hot water, tea and coffee in the room and an air conditioner. The staff were brilliant. The pub was cute and welcoming. It’s a short walk into Canterbury old town so very convenient for tourists. We would stay again if ever back in Canterbury.

Entry to the rooms is via an external staircase. It was okay for us but would be annoying in inclement weather. The food available at the pub was a let down. £14.95 for chicken gyros with loads of chips and salad. Good flavours but chicken was stone cold. I mentioned it to the waitress but got no response. To be fair, the cook was smashed with orders from the pub and take away. The smash beef burgers were doubles - so great for meat lovers. At £14.95 with chips it was decent value and my husband enjoyed it.

The accommodation is located behind a pub, the Maiden's Head, with plenty of free parking and just a few minutes walk from the train and bus stations. it was pretty basic but clean and comfortable, and good value for money. I tried the Greek food at the pub a couple of times and it was really good. I also enjoyed the regular Thursday night open mic night - something for everyone!

There was a bath-tub in a shared bathroom and I was looking forward to a good soak, but unfortunately there was hardly any water coming out of the hot tap so I gave up. There was a tiny portable fridge in the room but it made such a noise I didn't use it.

Easy check-in and out. Jamie was very friendly when we arrived and showed us to our room. Well maintained, clean, and contemporary decor. Exposed beams in the high roof space. Large shower cubicle. Mini fridge in the room. Clean bedding. Good security. Free on-site parking. Convenience stores nearby. Close to several eateries and a short walk to the city centre and local attractions.

We were on the front of the building and the traffic was too heavy and noisy to have a window open. (When closed, it was fine as there was triple glazing). The room was a little warm and unfortunately the air con wasn't working. The area seemed a little 'run down'. Few high level cobwebs - the cleaner needs a long handled duster! Shower head was a little scaled up.

The gentleman who showed us to the room was courteous and polite. He explained about the accommodation, how to get in and out of the property, and the self-check-out process. Although the room was above the pub it was quieter than expected with a low volume of music that stopped around 11 pm. Parking was good and safe inside the property premises. The room was adequately stuffed with complimentary water, tea, biscuits etc. It had a good working air conditioner and a fridge too. We also found electric iron which was kept just outside the room. The furniture was good and there was new carpet in the room and corridor. There was a good-sized ensuite bathroom with toiletries and a hot running shower.

The room was a bit stuffy and a fan could have helped although the air conditioner was working well. The pillows were a bit hard as compared to the mattress which was good.

Room was clean and tidy. Shower was powerful and hot. Beds (we had a twin) were comfortable, we had a good nights sleep. Tea/Coffee/Biscoff biscuits and bottled water present. Staff were extremely welcoming, we were shown to our room and talked through the facilities, procedures. Despite what we didn’t like its location is brilliant for access to the main town and we would stay again. Tip: for a scenic river walk into town turn left out of the pub head to the roundabout and use subway, on the other side turn left and follow signs for riverside walk.

Fridge in room didn’t work. Not enough sugar or uht milk present for tea/coffee. Pub is on a main road so traffic and closing time patrons are noisy. Food choice in pub is limited to burgers and a Greek special menu. Would have been useful to have information in the room about things to do in Canterbury.

The staff were very welcoming when I arrived. I got shown to my room, which was above the pub. I got walked through how to get into the room with the key fob. Shown around the room itself where everything was. And also shown where to drop the key upon checkout. All very stress free and straightforward. Was told if there were any issues, etc, to come and speak to the staff. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble. Made to feel very welcome. I booked this room for myself and my brothers, so we had a twin bed and a single. They, too, were both really pleased with our stay here.

Spotlessly clean and staff extremly welcoming. Ideally situated for a leisurely stroll to the city centre and Marlowe Theatre. The 'wonky' floor added character and any concerns about outside road noise were short lived as the secondary glazing really blocked out external noise. There was everything you needed and more in the room, TV, minifridge, hair dryer, iron, toiletries, water, tea, coffee, biscuits. The pub below the accommodation offers a warm welcome and a good range of food and drinks as well as a TV showing the sport.

1st impressions pulling into the car park are not great as you are greeted by a burger van and various industrial bins. We had to park in front of a bin as the accommodation 'reserved' spaces were all taken. You can hear the music from the bar until closing so not ideal if you want an early night

It had clearly been refurbished with everything very clean inside throughout. It was quirky which is to be expected above a 14th century pub, the uneven floor only added to its charm. The pub below served excellent food and the atmosphere was very lively. It was an open mic night but the music stopped by 10.30pm and didn’t disturb us.

One small thing, the bulkhead above the table caught my head when I bent down to get the kettle but I quickly got used to that
