Staff and Owners were very welcoming, hospitable, courteous and obliging. The owners have made an amazing well considered - concerted effort in providing very pleasing and entertaining themed rooms! Lunchtime food was good...... A sandwich with sides of fries and coleslaw were tasty and perfectly filling! Breakfast provided a broad choice to meet with all palettes - Excellent and promptly delivered to the many present at the sitting! The service provided was most polite and obliging and most noticeably pandered to guests personal needs..... excellent!
The en-suites are in need of some improvement in time..... but remain adequate. The late night live music and subsequent juke box could have gone up a few more decibels without any harm to sleeping guests!!! What remains to be said is that on a very positive note..... Is that there was no intrusive audible noise emanating from the activities below!! So ALL was good!

The location of the accommodation was very good, a 5 minute walk to Chester’s main shops/restaurants etc. The rooms are above the main bar, we found this convenient at the end of the night and after watching an excellent rock band in this rock themed pub as we were only a flight of steps up to a lovely comfy bed. The staff at the pub were excellent especially Katie, whom we met first upon arrival and welcomed us with a big smile, the owner, Rebecca, was a lovely, kind and helpful lady who welcomed us warmly and continued to be wonderful the whole time we were there.
Everything was very good.

Themed room was superb, great attention to detail/decoration etc. The theme ran throughout the place and was constant with excellent displays. Staff very helpful and atmosphere great. Great location being only a few minutes walk to city centre & shops. Would certainly stay there again.
Car parking an issue. On Booking.Com it says you get a 20% voucher to park. This is incorrect. A number of car parks in locality but very expensive. There is an open car park just up the road for the Crown Court/University but cannot be accessed until after 4pm.

Great rock pub guest house with rock themed rooms, very quirky and something refreshingly different! The staff were lovely and welcoming, particularly Dec who was behind the bar when we arrived. Location is right on the edge of the wonderful city of Chester with free overnight parking, the rooms were clean and the bed really comfortable. Also, they host lots of gigs and events during the week, it was open mic night when we arrived and we heard some cracking voices! Also, we left our phone charger and a couple of leads in the room after leaving and they were kind enough to post them back to us, great service team! We will definitely be back.
We stayed in room 7 (Pantera!) and the shower head leaked more water than it sprayed!

Staff very welcoming , nice size room and bed super comfy 😄...breakfast was delicious and cooked to order . Highly recommend!
Sadly our room didn't get a clean on the second day ...not that bothered about that to be honest it's just that we had no loo roll or coffee, sugar etc . Did ask the young girl at the bar early in the day she stated that the cleaner was just going up now .we came back around 7.30 ish ...Still not done . Anyway , it got sorted in the end ...not a huge problem but a little disappointing we had to chase it .

The location is great, walking distance to all the sights the staff are really friendly the theme rooms were pretty cool breakfast was good
the rooms need alittle maintenance and updating in parts and the shower was very hit and miss with the temp. the remote in the room didn't work for the TV but could use the TV buttons i feel that the Continental part of the breakfast should be laid out so that you can help yourself, rather than be part of the menu, that you have to order. makes the customer self conscious

This is our last night of 4 and we have never felt part of a family before. The staff have been absolutely wonderful from the top all the way down. When we leave tomorrow it will feel quite strange and sad, a feeling that, after travelling the world we have not had before. To stay here I think it helps if you are a pub goer, it is a rock bar not a tea room. The room was very large and the bed was as comfy as they come. Norbut the chef serves a fantastic breakfast of whatever you want and the steak in the evening was amazing. He is part of the whole family and comes to talk with the customers and it's easy to sense the pride he has in his cooking. He is just one of a fantastic team that aim to please. Thank you Steve and Julie xx
I spent too much money 😊 😃 Julie struggled a little on the stairs with a bad hip but nowhere near as much as I thought she would.

This was a very last minute booking as we decided to stop off on our way to Wales, and wanted something that would give us easy acccess to Chester that was budget friendly and a little quirky. Our stay was a Tuesday night so there was no music/entertainment or cooked food on (this isnt a complaint!), and the place was pretty quiet, however we were looked after by the lovely staff and spent the evening listening to our favourite tunes from the juke box. The Saddle is a rock based pub, and everywhere you looked there were things of interest. Our room was the Black Sabbath room which delighted us both. The breakfast the following morning was an additional £10 but worth every penny as it was exceptional. Access to Chester is literally out the door, turn right and you are in the centre. There were plenty of places to eat in Chester itself and early evening wandering around the town once the crowds have gone home was very pleasant, and we got to really enjoy the atmosphere and see the buildings in all their glory.
Our room was quite warm as it did not have an opening window, however fans were provided so all good.

We had no idea what this place was like when we booked it. We just wanted something very close to the Chester Racecourse that didn't cost an arm and a leg. There is no doubt this will be our Go-To place next time we visit Chester. To start with, it's within 10 mins slow walk of the racecourse. The Saddle Inn is a Rock Pub/Hotel with band memorabilia everywhere you look, some of the beer pump handles were the necks off guitars, the room keys had headphone jacks attached every wall was plastered with band posters. The rooms are named after rock acts. We stayed in the Guns'n Roses room, and our friends stayed in the Jimmi Hendrix room. The bedside tables were drums, the walls had framed pictures of rock legends and platinum disks. It was ace. Back down to the pub and there was a pool room at one end, and Karaoke was blaring at the other. The atmosphere was brilliant, everyone was really friendly and just out to enjoy themselves, locals and tourists alike There was also a good selection of beers on 5 we enjoyed until well after midnight. All the staff were great, smiling and chatting with us, we felt we were in our local. We hadn't booked breakfast initially but were asked if we would like to order it for the morning and all agreed. It was only £10 each, and we'd have spent that much if we'd walked to a cafe. We all had the full English which came with a choice of white or brown toast, tea or coffee and either poached, fried or scramble eggs. We were each served our own pot of tea which was big enough to get 3 or 4 cups of tea from and were offered refills too. As you'd expect the brekkie had bacon, sausage, egg, toms, beans, mushrooms, a hasbrown and black pudding. To be completely honest, I'd had a very night and couldn't taste much but it looked fantastic and went down well. My friends assured me it was a delicious breafast.
I'm convinced there was something in the beer that after several pints made me a bit dizzy and want to sing

Location, quirkiness of room, value, friendly staff (with one exception)
A younger female member of the bar staff started the evening being unnecessarily curt, brusque and moody, and ended up being downright rude and unprofessional, even walking off half way through pouring a Guinness, not to return. No idea what caused this behaviour. To be fair, the more mature lady who seemed to be in charge was most apologetic about it, but it made for an irksomely tense experience every time I went to the bar. I hope they address this issue because otherwise it was a very pleasant stay, but this really spoilt it, and needlessly.
