A lovely hotel in a lovely town centre location. Staff were friendly, and helpful.

A couple of minor points. When I booked the room, a month before travelling. I read the small print which suggested I could ring to arrange a room with a view. When I called, I was told that every effort would be made to make this happen. When we arrived at the hotel, we was given a room in the building next door to the hotel, not in the hotel. The room had a view of a wall, not the view I was expecting having booked a month in advance. After having a shower myself for 5 mins the boiler tripped, and my wife was unable to have a shower for sometime after being reset by a friendly and attentive member of staff.

The decadence of the hotel was amazing and beautiful. The staff were also pleasant helpful and accommodating. The fat badger restaurant is beautiful in decor, the service pleasant and the food on evening meal equally nice. The breakfast is in my opinion outstanding, the choices are well varied and the bacon and sausage to me seems like it is local sourced and not bulk purchased from bulk suppliers.

The £12 per night car parking caught us of guard slightly. After rechecking it is stated but rather Biden and to be honest it’s not something I would look for when booking at a 4* hotel. The bar prices in the fat badger are also abit unreasonable, you could not over stay your welcome in there.

Great value for money. The breakfast was very good indeed, with plenty of choice and both hot and cold options. I emailed ahead to request a room with a bathroom instead of a shower and this was in place when I arrived. I stayed in a 'Cozy Double' which was ideal for a solo traveller: there was space at both sides of the bed but this may not the case in all of these style rooms. The central location of the hotel was excellent. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was spotlessly clean.

Parking spaces are limited - I arrived at 16.15 and it was 2/3 full. However it is undercover and safe, but spaces are a little tight making getting in and out of the car difficult. The blind cord pulls in my bathroom must have been installed by a very tall person, I could barely reach them to open and close the blinds. The door to my room was difficult to close without pulling it hard and making a lot of noise, which would no doubt have been heard by other guests. I mentioned this to a member of the housekeeping team, who told me I needed to use my key card to over ride the physical door closing mechanism by opening it digitally again ! This worked, but I would never have thought to do that. The lady did tell me she would report it and ensure it was fixed.

Central location with all the shops and restaurants being right on the doorstep. Lovely green area in front of the hotel if you want to have a walk or a seat in the fresh air. The room was big and clean. We were in the deluxe room, but just be aware that if you do stay there, your bathroom is external to your room, so you have to walk to the end of the corridor to use the bathroom. They did give us robes and slippers, but you will have to pass other rooms. We found it okay, but it might not be ideal to some. The hotel was quiet at night, which is good for central, and we felt very cool on a humid day. Breakfast was a standard continental style with bacon and eggs, etc. We got a taxi there but the 36 bus goes from Leeds, which is fairly cheap at the moment for a ticket. There's a bus stop outside the hotel to get you around if you want to go to high Harrogate. It's a really lovely place and this hotel is great to stay in if you want a prime location.

The bathroom being external wasn't great on a night time when you need to use the facilities. Also, the door had to be pulled to shut, and it was quite loud, which might not have been great for the room next to our bathroom.

We loved the location of our hotel, it was close to the main town of Harrogate and the staff were very friendly and considerate. Our room was extremely comfortable and clean and we liked that there was a pub located to one side of the hotel. Both the restaurant and pub offered great food and as the weather was lovely it was so nice to sit outside and have a drink and eat good food.

The only thing that we didn’t like was that we had to pay to use the hotel car park, especially when the accommodation was not cheap. We feel that £15 a day to park your car is a little excessive.

Beautiful building, clean, great location. Staff were lovely.

We had a room with separate bathroom, I hadn’t noticed on the booking. It was a pain, you had to constantly leave your room to go to a separate bathroom, have to find the key card then go out into the main building where anyone could be entering from the Main Street and having to go into the bright light throughout the night. It didn’t spoil the break away but I definitely wouldn’t recommend this room, it was an upgrade too. When we spoke to friends they had paid less than us and their breakfast was included and we had all booked through booking.com

Enjoyed our stay, little disappointed we had to stay in the modern building next door. Very friendly and helpful staff. Liked the bar and the over all atmosphere of the hotel. Liked the hotels positioning. bang in the town centre.

The menu was quite small and with many meals being based around fish there's little choice: if you not a fish fan. We only ate in the restaurant once during our three night stay. I'm happy to pay for day time parking, but object to pay to parking overnight in the hotel I'm sleeping in. And while I don't want to be picky but, several of the floor tiles in the bath room (462) were loose, some edging from the bed side cabinets was missing and there was practically no space to work on my laptop, minor things all... but supposed to be four stars. Not what I would expect.

The hotel was lovely and in an excellent location in Harrogate. The hotel bar was obviously very popular as it seemed to be the busiest in the town. although this did not interrupt is in the hotel. We could not hear the bustle of the bar in our room. We used the hotel restaurant, the food was good, great value for money. Portions were too big as we did not have room for pudding! We were able to park the car up and get around without using it. There is lots to see, good shops and nice park. Alongside the heritage of Harrogate.

It's difficult to say what there wasn't to like. The hotel met our expectations. If I was being really picky the glass roof next to lift area could do with cleaning up. The corridor on top floor was warm but room was fine.

The hotel is in a great location, and good to have onsite parking (though this is a little expensive for residents). The staff on reception were friendly and welcoming. The room was very nice - clean, modern and comfortable - a little small, but fine for me as a solo traveller. The bathroom was also new, modern and clean - hot water with good pressure.

The reception area is very dark and not very inviting. Although the bathrooms have obviously had recent renovations they do lack some basic requirements such as a shelf/ledge to place toiletries etc and somewhere to hang towels (only one hook available on the back of the bathroom door, so nowhere to put towel within easy reach for getting out of the shower, or to put hand towel near the sink. The bath is VERY shallow.
