Comfortable room and excellent restaurant staff with a good range for breakfast.

Beware when booking a twin room on Booking.com that you search for the facility when booking to record that two people are occupying the room as the hotel don't assume that this is the case and there is more to pay on the day of departure from the hotel.

Price for the room was good value for three adults staying there. Staff were friendly and helpful and location was excellent for what we needed. There was a great variety in choice for the breakfast with good quality.

Only real gripe was that we picked this hotel with it having parking facility. We understood that we weren’t guaranteed a spot but we weren’t told that there was a £12 parking charge! I personally do no not like prices to be hidden from my original booking and things like this leave a slight sour taste after an otherwise excellent stay. The room we stayed in was clean but possibly could do with a refresh decor wise?

Lovely old building, friendly staff, clean, good breakfast.

I came with a friend who has mobility difficulties. She had telephoned beforehand to book a room with a walk-in shower, but when we arrived, such a room was not available. In fact we were told that the hotel has only 2 such rooms, which had already been booked previously. A grab rail was provided to help her to step in and out of the bath, which was great, but can I suggest that some more bathrooms are converted to level access showers? There must be lots of older people who struggle to step over the side of a bath to access a shower. Removing a bath and installing a low access tray in its place is a fairly straightforward procedure.

We arrived for the weekend with another 2 couples for a friend's birthday, it was a smooth check-in. We had a table booked for evening meal the food was lovely. The staff were super helpful they brought out a birthday cake which had taken with and they gave a bottle of wine on the house. Nothing was a trouble. Breakfast was beautiful with lots of choice.

Unfortunately the bed was too hard for my liking and didn't sleep well the first night but I spoke to the lovely girl on reception and she arranged for a mattress topper to be fitted. 2nd night sleep was lovely. Hotel decor is a little dated and could do with an upgrade but it didn't spoil our stay.

Fantastic suite, really quiet on a nightime with the windows closed considering the central location. I thought the bed was really comfortable and for a dated building everything was in good working order. The breakfast was excellent, I had some of the best scrambled eggs I've ever tasted. We also had good views (second floor) from the room, and the cleaning staff were really attentive and always smiling. The bar area is really cosy and comfortable, with books available to browse and a grand sitting room with spectacular high ceilings and period features. It was an ideal area for chilling out or having a couple more glasses of wine to end the night. The only slight negative is the small car park at the front, although there is overspill behind the hotel and also a larger car park round the corner behind the Wetherspoons. Despite this, I was lucky to get one in the front. We've stayed in many hotels in Harrogate, and this one is definitely a favourite.

The breakfast was first class.

Split level floors - not easy with luggage. Perhaps a ramp area next to the steps is the answer to this problem.

Room was very big & spacious, plenty room for us as a family & our little puppy. The Bar staff were lovely & welcoming throughout our stay. The rooms were cleaned every day & the staff were all very friendly & spoke to us each morning when we left for the day.

Bathroom was in need of a little TLC, especially the shower which wasn't the most powerful, put it down to water pressure & time of the morning getting a shower. Our previous arrangements changed last minute so we had to bring our puppy with us which was fine. Our room was on the 3rd floor which was a bit of a worry for us getting her outside for her toileting without having any accidents in the corridor/lift. Thankfully she didn't have any accidents in the hotel during our stay. So she'll definitely get back next time :)

Amazing hotel in a fabulous location, staff were great. Everything is set for Xmas, so it looked amazing. Breakfast was great. Plenty of choice. I only wished it was slightly later in the morning. The room was great, especially having a mini fridge in the room. It was an amazing facility to have.

Only complaint was a lack of sockets in room, had to move the kettle as the fridge was in use. And in the main toilets was a funny smell, even though they looked really clean and saw staff cleaning them. And there was no sign saying a vegetarian breakfast alternatives were available only mentioned different eggs. So maybe an idea if it is an option!! But just being picky.. as wanted to bring it to attention.

Hotel lovely great location, rooms clean a little dated but had everything we needed, -8 temperature during our visit so room was a tad chilly but not too bad. Food was amazing, breakfast good variety, good quality and was served hot in a beautiful dining room. We had a 3 course evening meal both nights, food again excellent, well presented good quality ingredients abd served hot our only slight niggle was the price of drinks, most diners chose tap water, £29 for the cheapest wine was out of our price range and by the looks most others too other than this fantastic stay and would stay again in a heartbeat .

There was nothing i would complain about, i think the price we paid was a bargain

The hotel is in a fantastic position in Harrogate. We were attending the Convention centre which was just around the corner. Beautiful building, some areas are lovely with some needing some upgrading. Beds were very comfortable overall. Great to get some assistance with extra handles in the bathroom Breakfast was good.

Our room was a little cold even with the heating up full. I do recognise that this is difficult with older sash windows. Curtain design allowed cold air in and could do with a rethink. Room while spotlessly clean was a little dated and could do with upgrading. Although the bed itself was comfortable, the pillows were hard. While we were given additional handles to help with getting in and out of the bath, we were given a room which was accessed with some stairs which wasn't ideal. We managed but on hindsight should have requested a change of room but we were too tired after travelling to go back down to reception.
