Pros: Staff was wonderful! Phillip was always very accommodating, especially there was another guest in the female dorm who had stinky shoes - Phillip politely asked n took the girl’s shoes out of the bedroom, provided air fresheners, opened window wider, opened our bedroom door for a bit longer. Angel & Amy were wonderful, too. They kept the place in tip top shape. Location was superb - a few minutes walk to the city, it’s attractions, all it’s amenities - eateries, cafes, public transportations. Breakfast was available all day & always stocked. A very quiet area.
Cons: Carpeted floor in female dorm which traps smell & dirt no matter how much vacuuming; it needs to be steamed cleaned at least every 6 months! Shoes should not be allowed in female dorms as the room is too small and too tight with only 1 window working. In Scandinavia, most hostels do not allow shoes, they have to leave them by the entrance door on shoe racks or shelves. No toilet in ground floor where the female dorm is, one has to go up the next floor.

Superb, first time I stayed in a Hostel and I was amazed how nice this place was. Very well equiped and in center of leeds top
The Lady hotel employee not really a people person, asked her for toilet rolls as both top floor toilets had been empty of rolls and she was too busy on a personal phone call, she acted like I had been disturbing her. The man hotel worker really welcoming and customer focused but the lady was the opposite. However the lady during the day was superb at clearning and arranging the hotel , perhaps she needs some training on customer training

Good value for money. Facilities are clean; the room was very quiet from arrival to departure. This is not a 'party hostel' - there are rules about curfew. It was great for me as I was travelling for work and needed somewhere cheap but good in Leeds. A decent range of breakfast cereals and other items are provided free, with different types of milk in the fridge. The kitchen has all the necessary white goods for preparing your own meals. WiFi is available throughout the hostel and is free. Check-in and check out were friendly and easy. I walked from the bus station to the hostel, which took about 25 minutes. The hostel is about 10 minutes walk from the centre of Leeds and all the shops and facilities. I've been using hostels for years, and this was a very good one.
Can't think of anything bad.

The hostel is right on the bus route from the airport and very close to the railway station. It is small but well-lead and the guests were also very nice and friendly. Showers and toilets were regularly cleaned and were not taken for exceeding long by others. Beds are comfortable and there are heaters if needed. It is also relatively quiet.
The window in my room and one shower were waiting to be mended, otherwise fine. Jam is new on Fridays :)

I've never stayed in a hostel before and the idea came for a friend- When I booked my expectations were mis-conceptive for sure. But the host Phill was very genuine and welcoming from the onset. The room I stayed in was the female dorms with bunk beds. The rooms and kitchen were clean and the kitchen was exceptional stocked with variety of bread, spreads and breakfast items available 24/7- giving that homely feel. The guests there were also very respectful during the late and early hours.
No curtains in the AFAB (female) dorms- The combination and light and sound pollution into the room made for a few restless night.

The staff had been greatly accommodating. The gentleman who is at the reception went out of his way in assisting me to find the place and with any other request. Very satisfied with the staff.
Maybe the kitchen area. If there would be a dishwasher where one can place the dishes instead of being handwashed by other guests. One cannot be certain on the level of cleanliness if handwashed by others. You have to wash them anew to make certain of good standards.

The owner was very friendly and helpful, and very active with keeping the hostel up to a good standard of cleanliness. Free all day breakfast was great and always very well stocked. Generally a good vibe and I'd stay again.
The combination lockers were out of use, though I managed to figure out the combination to one of them. The mattresses weren't great. Passable but could be an issue if you need a firm bed for medical reasons.

The lady who greeted me was very lovely. Kitchen and dining room was very clean As was my room and the bathrooms Very good value for money especially a double room to myself Breakfast basic but nice There was a heater I used briefly Not too far form the centre, I walked there and back
The bottom sheet was a flat one and didn't fit on my bed so a scrunched up mess in the morning And no mattress protector on Also the mattress was higher at one side so I sort of slid over the bed

Angel welcomed me warmly upon arrival and got me settled in after showing me the facilities. Phil was more than helpful the following day and Amy was bright and chatty. All together, the team looked after me exceptionally well, the facilities were clean, and there was a variety of breakfasts to choose from, plus unlimted tea and coffee which made the stay tops! Leeds is a beautiful city with the most amazing architecture, and I visited Temple Newsam, amongst rolling hills and wooodland, the following day which was spectacular. All in all, a brilliant trip and I shall definitely be going back to Russell Scott Backpackers Hostel, Leeds, again!
It was all just great!

Room clean, free tea, milk, toast, cereal all day, staff friendly and helpful, secure locking system.
One of the bedroom guests were rude and inconsiderate, particularly one muslim woman who prayed on the floor without asking permission and blocked me from getting to my bed and when I asked her to move she was aggressive and very rude. I am always in favour of freedom of thought, speech and belief but when people in public conditions like shared rooms impose these thoughts and beliefs on others of dissimilar beliefs it is insulting and discriminative. Perhaps the hostel should inform residents that no religious ceremonies are performed in shared spaces.
