Staff were wonderful. When we mistakenly presumed we'd be able to dine at a nearby restaurant after 8pm, Hannah very kindly helped us to make alternative plans. She found a great local hostelry that was still serving, made a late reservation on our behalf, found us a driver and saved us from a very hungry night after a long day's walking. She was, moreover, a delightful, cheering presence. Everyone was very warm and welcoming throughout. The hotel was unusually cosy. Breakfast was spectacularly good and dinner was excellent. We came away feeling extremely well fed, soothed and minded.

quiet, peaceful and restful. Lounge and bar areas intimate comfortable where we felt at ease in the surroundings. very personalised service in all areas by a team of professional, caring, and friendly staff all eager to please as required. we paid an excellent price for DB&B with the breakfast being super hot of huge proportion and good tasting coffee and freshly squeezed orange juice. Evening meal had limited choice ( time of year ? ), but tasting well portioned servings; so good choice to only stay two nights. Did not check if bar menu offered. restful nights sleep, loved the steamer rather than iron. Big car park, village stores opposite in case of extra needs
just little quibbles :- pillows too hard for our liking, sockets in room tricky to access due to ration of room size and furniture pieces. bathroom small but perfectly formed. Assumed local milk and tea bags for our room but unfortunately neither to our liking. Quite a few steps along the upper corridor as one navigates the route to the bedroom.

The level of service from staff was excellent. Friendly, polite and efficient in their duties. The food in the restaurant was delicious (amendments to the menu choices were graciously accommodated). This was also the case with breakfast. The room was spacious with a very comfortable bed, we only wish we'd had more time to make use of the facilities offered.
Although a wonderful place with excellent staff and facilities, I think that the room would benefit from having windows that would open so fresh air can circulate the room. The air conditioning/ temperature control made for a bit of a stuffy room. A luxury price point too.

This was a truly exceptional stay. The room was very comfortable and to a high standard of cleanliness and decor. We received a five star experience from staff. Dinner was incredible and again to a high standard. Breakfast was also fantastic with really great choice. The staff team were great, so welcoming and worked so well together. We will definitely be returning and have already started recommending the Peacock to friends.
Nothing - it was exceptional!

Really elegant property. We had the junior suite-lovely. Really quiet room and the bed was really comfortable. Nice large bathroom and super shower. The food was delicious and the staff were really pleasant and obliging. Lovely location to visit Chatsworth and Bakewell.
Nothing we could say that we didn’t like. The restaurant would be better with the tables staggered a bit so it didn’t feel so formal and guests not sitting in a “row” (just our preference!) and the chairs (although period) were a bit uncomfortable to be honest. Otherwise it was a perfect stay! Would definitely recommend.

Location was quiet but close to a small post-office and retail park. Breakfast was excellent. Bar area was gorgeous with lovely open fire. Staff were exceptional. Everyone was brilliant and really cared about providing the best service.
Towel rail was so hot it scalded me. The notice to be careful of the heat was buried under the towels and even by being careful it was easy to get burned. No fridge which meant having to call down to reception for fresh milk. It arrived really quickly with some bonus shortbreads which were delicious but a fridge would have been better. No safe.

They always make you feel so welcome and the area is so relaxing. It's great to get away from the bustle and feel really pampered - even though they are a small inn and don't have a Spa. The area is part of the Chatsworth estate and there's a real feeling of 'old' money pervading the area. The hotel itself is steeped in historical artefacts - quietly so.

Breakfast good though would have been expensive if booked separately. Location excellent. Staff brilliant, sorting out an evening meal for us even though very busy. Hotel full of character. Free car park
We weren’t told that staying here entitled us to free admission to Haddon Hall or reduced price admission to Chatsworth. Food very expensive for what it was.

We had a puppy so the dining room couldn’t be used but the wonderful lady serving breakfast set us up in the lounge which was fabulous and also the lovely gentleman set up the dining room so we could eat our takeaway in comfort due to no kitchen open on the bank hol Monday . Fantastic staff xx
The pillows were on the soft side for us but that’s a personal choice , everything else was exceptional x

Lovely hotel with friendly staff and curated in details. Breakfast was delicious and rooms very clean. Not a luxurious destination but definitely a lovely place to retreat. Nice garden outside and bar open till late.
Maybe it lacks a bit of vibe and there aren’t many facilities but wouldn’t say it is a negative thing necessarily.
