My husband and I spent the weekend at Riverside House Hotel to celebrate our 23rd wedding anniversary. From the moment we arrived, the team could not have done more to make us feel welcome, with no attention spared to detail. We had dinner on our first evening, which was a culinary experience, rather than just a meal. A wicked Margarita and canapes, followed by a leisurely 3 course meal, with knowledgeable staff talking us through the provenance of the local food and which wines paired best with each dish. I had the scallop starter, which was perfectly cooked (I could possibly have managed another 1 or 2!) For main course, my husband had the lemon sole which was delicately cooked, and I had the pork fillet - the pork cheek croquette was flavourful, crispy and melt in the mouth! The cheese board (and Malbec!) and apple pie were delicious - and the black treacle sourdough and Henderson's butter were amazing! Breakfast was a treat, and we highly recommend the Riverside Full English. Our bedroom overlooked the gardens and river, which enchanted my husband who is a keen angler, and it was lovely to be able to walk across Sheepwash Bridge to see the ducks and trout hiding in the weeds. We will most definitely be back!

It was in a beautiful, tranquil village; spotlessly clean & beautifully decorated & furnished. Our room was really lovely; the bed was very comfortable & everything was to a very high standard. We had tea, coffee & hot chocolate making facilities & some gorgeous custard choux buns on arrival! Breakfast was 3 courses & the food was fabulous - cooked to perfection! The staff were so friendly & attentive………..nothing was too much trouble! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this fabulous hotel in such a pretty village…………would definitely recommend to friends & family & really hope to return one day!

The welcome from the staff was superb! We also loved the comfortable bed, spotless room, tea/coffee/hot chocolate as well as a freshly baked choux bun when we arrived, We loved the fabulous direct access to the garden through french doors, and our own Lutyens bench and table where we sat with our morning coffee. The patio next to the river was particularly beautiful. Breakfast was 3 courses, we went for the full English and were very satisfied. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Highly recommended for a luxury stay in a quintessential English village setting. Parking was easy, although driving into the property needs your full attention due to the limited gate width).

I can’t tell you how fantastic this place is. The service by every single one of the staff was exceptional! Nothing was too much to ask for. We’ve been to a lot of places for short stays in the UK but this is the best and by a long way. Such a beautiful hotel and a little gem of a town. We were upgraded by Alistar on arrival to the rafters room which way stunning, had a lovely walk around the village in the sun, fed the ducks had lovely food and the sleep was just 10/10! The breakfast on both mornings was amazing not just the food but all the staff are so polite and welcoming. On our last night we just fancied a takeaway which got cancelled late on but we got back to the hotel around 10:30pm and got again obviously went above and beyond. Made me and my fiancé top quality ham and cheese sandwiches and a packet of crips each, we were so grateful and to be even more grateful the owner didn’t even charge us and he gave us a feast. I don’t ever leave reviews but for me and my partner to both agree this is the best hotel we have stayed in the UK is just complete appreciation to you all! Thank you so much and we will be back soon.

From the moment I arrived, I was treated with the kind of warmth and attentiveness that sets this hotel apart. The staff went above and beyond to ensure every aspect of my stay was perfect – their genuine hospitality made me feel like royalty. The highlight of my mornings was undoubtedly the breakfast. It was nothing short of divine – a beautifully curated spread that catered to every palate, with fresh ingredients, impeccable presentation, and flavors that lingered long after. Every detail of the stay was thoughtfully designed to offer comfort and luxury. If you’re looking for a hotel experience that exceeds expectations in every way, this is the place. I can’t wait to return!

Well Kept property on approach. Plenty of parking. Well lite entrance into front door very welcoming staff, delightful. Was asked if we’d like to be shown to our room, spacious room, extremely clean, beautiful bathroom, comfortable beds, coffee/tea in the room with fresh milk and a beautiful little cake each. Fluffy white towels, shampoo conditioner, body wash in bathroom, beautiful hot shower. Walked in to a beautiful period room for breakfast. Table set perfect. Table service excellent very knowledgeable about menu. Great choice for breakfast arrived hot on table surface. Service staff, extremely Welcoming delicious breakfast.

We received a good welcome. The room was very clean. The staff were all extremely friendly. The breakfast was excellent and the service at breakfast was exceptional. The Hotel is in a beautiful setting by the river.
We missed the chance of a high grade room as we booked last minute. So our room was a little small and there was no chair to sit and read. However it was immaculately clean. There is no night porter, so all very quiet when we came back from an evening out at 10.40pm and we had to let ourselves in but we had been prior warned about the situation.

Great hotel. The team were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Lovely inside and outside spaces to chill out. Close to the river. Excellent 3-course breakfast and the chef’s afternoon treat of vanilla choux buns were exceptional and something to look forward to especially after a long g walk. Located in a small village about 35min walk into Bakewell and close to the Monsal Trail, which I would also recommend.
The old style high cistern toilet was a bit noisy when it flushed but wasn’t a big issue.

Outstanding restaurant with terrific dinner food and service and cozy ambience. The ground floor garden room, though small, was efficiently laid out, and had a nice bathtub/shower combination. The dining and seating areas were very comfortable, as was the bed. I also liked that the nighstands had drawers, there was a normal closet with hangers and enough drawer space to put short stay items, and an in-room coffee/tea kettle. Sweet treats welcomed us on arrival in our room.
The room was a bit warm and humid in late September (no AC). There was no mini-fridge in the room. The bathroom had only minimal space to lay out toiletries.

The property stands with mature trees surrounding the garden. Wide drive way approaching with a very attractive front. Gardens & out area kept to a very high standard. Entrance & reception area fitting with the period of property. All are beautifully well Presented. Eating area spotless & just the right temperature for sitting having very tasty cheese on toast. Rooms absolutely perfect all you need for a very comfortable stay. Our room was aground floor with doors opening in to the garden absolutely beautiful with the smell of autumn & the fresh cool air. The bird song made you stand & listen they must be very happy there too. Bed very comfortable bathroom again spotless with beautiful fluffy white towels & all toilets on side for your stay, so no need to take shampoo conditioner shower wash & soap because it’s all in your bathroom ready for you. Delicious breakfast & very generous portions. Extremely welcoming staff & very knowledgeable.
