The hotel looks idyllic from the outside and it is quite charming inside. Staff are friendly and helpful. In the bathroom we even had robes and plenty of space, plenty of towels and excellent quality wash, shampoo and lotion. The water stream was excellent. The room was warm, the bed was comfortable. The room was cleaned daily. The breakfast, especially by the fireplace was just an add on to the positive experience. When I needed a taxi, the staff arranged it immediately. There is also specious free parking all around the house.
Can't think of such thing.

The location for Chatsworth estate was really good. The staff were friendly and welcoming Loved the toiletries in the bathroom and homemade ginger biscuits. Bed very comfy and breakfast lovely.
Felt that the food in the restaurant was overpriced and so was the wine. I had beef rump which was £27 and received 2 small slices. My husband had the pie which was £20. No house wine on the menu. No where to sit in the bar just for a drink, had to sit at the table you eating at or one of the others till the diners arrived, there were a few stools which are not suitable for everyone.

Lovely location with beautiful views of the village. Excellent tea and coffee facilities, especially having the fridge for milk downstairs. The card, biscuits and chocolates were a sweet touch, having said we were on our honeymoon! The bathroom was amazing with so much space, and I liked the bottles of shower gel/shampoo instead of the small ones. The breakfast was superb with yummy continental and cooked options. The dinner on our first night was also delicious! We’d wanted to have a couple of nights of luxury and they certainly delivered: we definitely want to come back!
Only that we couldn’t stay longer!

Lovely old building which had been well decorated to a good standard. Excellent food both dinner and breakfast which we really enjoyed. Situated in a small village and we were recommended to walk a few minutes up the hill for the sunset. Fabulous view across the countryside. Friendly helpful staff. Whole operation very professional.
Our room did not have a window but only a glazed fire exit door with steps outside door to the car park which was handy for loading. However it made the room very hot which is why there were two portable fans but they were too noisy to sleep with them on.

Lovely village location, near to Bakewell. Scrupulously clean, well appointed throughout. Really comfortable room with four poster bed and views. Fabulous food in the restaurant for breakfast and dinner. Very helpful and friendly staff.

Location, comfortable , clean, staff lovely
Decor a little tired- needs a little refresh Sharpener knives in restaurant! Shouid be Chatsworth products for breakfast- jams/ marmalade, wine etc….. product placement One randoms table ended to the kitchen access which squeaks loudly each 30 seconds so impossible to have an interrupted concession over dinner due to hot plates and creaking constantly Take it out and put a waiters station there

A charming hotel in a beautiful location with proximity to Chatsworth. Tasteful room with nice antiques, big bathroom and very good food in the restaurant with great local products. Excellent breakfast and dinner menu had a lot of interesting choice. The staff were super helpful and friendly
Older guests need to be aware that clambering onto the VERY high four poster bed is a bit hazardous especially in the middle of the night ! We would have preferred a walk in shower or at least some grab rails around the bath. My husband almost got stuck ! There isn't a lounge or informal area and the dining area isn't that comfortable so one is mainly confined to the bedroom which is quite small.

Highly recommend this hotel enough ! Great sized clean & comfortable bedrooms. Great facilities! I Booked 2 nights stay for a family get together for a surprise birthday on Sunday . Hotel & staff could not accommodate us more, they were extremely friendly, child friendly staff , putting those words on a level close to Mary Poppins :) Both breakfast and main meals menus superb. The whole event was perfect, thank you all ! X

Staff very pleasant and friendly. Room comfortable. Good bathroom and shower. Food excellent. In a lovely setting of stone estate cottages.
My wife would have liked a mirror standing on the desk to do her makeup. There was nowhere indoors to just sit and have a drink except at the bar. All the tables were set up for eating. The entrance to the overflow car park was very confusing. It didn't look as if it was attached to the Devonshire.

Loved the location, staff were very friendly and helpful, food was excellent. Room was very nice, but it is petite and wouldn’t recommend for a tall person or someone who likes or needs a lot of space.
Given this is now essentially a hotel and no longer a village pub, there was no space for residents to sit other than in their rooms or at a dining table. Some comfortable chairs, ideally fireside, are needed and would make the stay more special.
