Beautiful old house with some beautiful old features. Room size very grand with ensuite bathroom to match. Staff were lovely and the evening meal was superb.

Just a bit disappointed and not the grand house anticipated. Cheaper additions and finishes. Although the room had at once been quite a statement, the carpet was wrinkled not fitted properly and stained. The bed was clean & comfy but made with an old valance and looked like the kids had made it. The bathroom downstairs looked grand but wallpaper behind the taps stained and worn - toilet area not the best. Lovely updated eating area downstairs, but continental selection minimal and set up on cheap looking metal stand on wheels. Such a shame, some small changes would make all the difference

The room provided was very large but warm and well furnished. The receptionist on arrival was welcoming and helpful. we ate in the dining room in the evening and had a very good dinner and although only one person serving, both in the bar and at table, the service was good and timely. The breakfast in the morning was good but a little limited in choices and a tad expensive for what was on offer.

The only issue was that there is no lift and we were given a room on the second floor and there was no assistance with luggage which my partner found a little difficult. I was advised at reception that if we visited again to request a room on a lower floor if available.

Dinner was very good, a tad expensive but where isn't these days? Being asked to order dessert just as we received main course not good - as the chef wanted to finish!! At £40 per head on table of 4 I think they could have waited! Bar man/waiter very nice and obliging. Breakfast tasty, cooked fresh

Asking for dessert to be pre-ordered as the chef wanted to go home Asked t settle bill at 945 as barman was finishing shift, again not good. Although night porter could serve drinks after this time, hard to track him down!! Being told Fruit Tea "was not part of the breakfast offer" At £15.95 I would have expected it was! No yoghurt available either.

The hall was absolutely beautiful and all the staff were so friendly. The room was absolutely huge and the bathroom was stunning. I honestly don’t have a single negative to say. From checking in to check out all the staff were really friendly and helpful. I stayed with my son who is 4 and although we had a message to say there was an event and there may be some noise we heard nothing (that’s not to say there wasn’t any noise at all, we are heavy sleepers).

Possibly one negative that with breakfast I only had one small mug of coffee but that’s only a very minor negative.

Excellent location , fantastic lakeside walks in the afternoons , quick Uber ride away from city centre ( plenty touristy things to do there ) , food was brilliant, celebrated my fiancés birthday here and he said he loved the food , birthday cake was insane and staff were friendly.

Only minor things I would do to improve the overall experience ( silly little things like there was a tiny stain on our bedsheet , nothing bad ( clearly been freshly washed but there was a tiny stain ) but again this is being nitpicky! Fantastic break, made even better with fab staff and an incredible hotel and grounds surrounding it!

It's a stunning location right on the river. The staff were helpful and friendly, we even got a call to remind us we were going to miss breakfast, slept in a bit! The rooms were warm and comfortable, and the bathroom was stunning. We loved all the period features. We ate dinner and breakfast, both meals delicious just a couple of niggles.

Not much, really, just little things. There were stains on the runner on the bed. Dinner was lovely, except the parsnips were so hard I couldn't get my knife through them. My biggest complaint would be that the soilstack comes down through the bedroom. It is boxed in, but it has no soundproofing, so every time the room upstairs used the facilities you could hear everything, which isn't great when someone takes a shower at 2am, but I do understand this is a period property and somethings can't be helped.

It was a lovely setting in a beautiful park with walking trails and a lake! The room was palatial with room to spread out and have space for both of us. The bathroom was as big as some hotel rooms and we enjoyed the shower and deep claw foot tub big enough for two. The restaurant and bar is excellent and breakfast was lovely. It’s a wonderful old stately home with loads of character close to Nottingham.

Carpet was a little dated in the room and there is no air conditioning so be careful on hot summer days. The shutters provide shade and it stayed tolerable. There was a wedding event with loud music that lasted until midnight. The hotel did warn us about it but if you’re sensitive to noise you would need to check before booking.

Our room was the Admiral Horatio Nelson room and was large and spacious, The TV was a little small for the large sized room, but we weren't there for the telly! The bathroom was huge and the shower was mega! We would not hesitate to stay here again

Not that we didn't like it, but the only niggle was the breakfast! As good as it was, it wasn't worth nearly £32! Twas £15.95 each I think? I suppose we could have had that moneys worth of cereals and toast i.e. the continental stuff that was a help yourself job. But we're on about the full English cooked brekkie. It was good, but if that was all you wanted then a little pricy!? Maybe if they offered the cooked breakfast without the option of the other food on offer then mega. But this then becomes a trust issue that if that's what you've paid for? Then you will leave the other food alone!? ;-) Lol

The customer service was excellent, the staff were friendly and helpful. My room was clean and had a really big bathroom. The bed was comfy. The hotel as a whole was quiet, which I always appreciate. The park and ride down the road was really handy!

The water to my room was turned off when I first arrived and I hadn't been informed. Not too much of an issue, just wish someone had warned me ahead of time. Two broken fans and a third was fetched that also didn't work, and my room was very warm as it was top floor, with only one very small window. Easily solved with a cold bath, but not ideal.

The location was perfect for our trip to the racing. The setting is also beautiful, the grounds were lovely for a walk. Staff were really friendly The room was beautiful and the hall has lots of history, even has a little ruined church next to it

The only downside to the property is there was a wedding, a ball and a prom during our stay and the noise isn't great, although to be fair the venue did warn us ahead and we didn't let it affect our stay but it was quite noisy so be prepared for that. The breakfast was served up to 9.30am and we did go on the last side (9am) and there was no croissants - just thought this could have been restocked until end of breakfast - but the fried breakfast was beautiful and the waitress was lovely
