Great fresh cooked breakfast with cereal, toast, juice, fruit etc on a eat as much as you want buffet service. The room was excellent for the price with a walk in double shower and sizeable bathroom and wardrobe with hangers for say 8 garments which was plenty for our stay. Hotel was fine, nice spacious dining room, lounge and room with quite modern decor.
At the time of our stay there were a group of males seemingly on a shoot and whether it was them or somebody else but some males were quite rowdy in the corridor at the back of the hotel near to our room some of which either were next door or across the landing based on the slamming of the room door at 4.00AM. Can't hold the hotel responsible for this and it can happen anywhere but some people are just downright inconsiderate.

Food was fabulous from.fresh cooked breakfast to main dinner choices. Cocktails were superb and the staff were professional courteous and served with a smile
The decor in some parts needed upgrading and maintenance on the woodwork is in serious need for painting. Lift required to 2nd floor... never asked if we had health issues and 50+ steps were not expected as clientele were mostly elderly. Room was almost attic type with angled ceilings but no warning signs but fab linen towels etc. Car park at rear was downhill from reception and another 60 + steps from.rear access door via 2 floors to road level and reception....

I'm happy to give a positive review of the Tontine. It's a spacious, traditional hotel in a welcoming small borders town on the Tweed, and you get a friendly welcome from the smartly turned-out staff. I ate in the hotel and the menu was excellent and affordably priced, and the large restaurant has an impressive view of the rolling lowland hills through high arched windows. Lovely, when it's not raining. The room itself was more adequate rather than de-luxe, but that was all I required and does not detract from my very good impression. Would gladly stay again.
The long and mazy trek to rooms 15+16! No, not a serious complaint.

The Tontine is a lovely hotel, very welcoming and the staff were great, very helpful, my partner used the spa facilities of their sister hotel just out of town while I had a meeting, which was arranged by the reception staff. We had a wonderful dinner, the food was terrific with lovely dinning room and bar area. The rooms are a little dated but very comfortable and pleasant, breakfast was excellent too. I have stayed in the Tontine many times over the years and I have to say it is better than ever now, it was a lovely visit once again.
Struggled a bit for parking at first attempt but got that sorted, other than that there was nothing at all to cause an problem.

Breakfast so good. Lots of choice &very tasty! But from walking in we where greeted by a really cheerful smiling reception Laura. &took trouble to find out the answers to our questions about travel times for next day! Very impressed!
We couldn't open window for fresh air! in our room as it appeared to be stuck! Glad there was an electric fan available in cupboard for us to use. But that was the only thing negative.

The staff were excellent, especially the younger ones who worked hard, and were always prepared to go the extra mile. The comfortable and warm Lounge The brilliant shower in my bedroom The friendliness of the staff
I did not like the large, formal dining room. It was too dark and too old fashioned. The alternative 'Bistro' was much pleasanter.

We had a wonderful 4 night stay with our dog, the hotel and all staff were amazing. Our dog was made to feel most welcome with a bed and bowl left in the room. She was even given a sausage each day at breakfast (special area dogs can go to breakfast with owners). The breakfast was absolutely delicious many choices each day.
Absolutely nothing

I loved this old place. Built by French prisoners from the Napoleonic Wars in 1806! Quirky and cool. The staff were the real asset - a young man with an American twang to his accent served dinner and was very polite and chatty - I didn’t have any cash - touring on a motorcycle - so no tip - I am truly sorry 😢. The star of the show is Laura on the front desk. Possibly the most charming human being I’ve ever met. So Bill, Elon or Jeff if you’re looking for someone front of house - Laura at the Tontine Inn at Peebles is the one to hire.
Food was average

Very central, in the middle of the High Street. really old building (built 1808) but all rooms modernised. bathroom was huge, very modern and well appointed . breakfast was great and the receptionist who was on when we checked in and out was lovely and very helpful
We were up on the very top floor (the attic). and it was the hottest weekend of the year so far so the room was very hot. we had to sleep with all the windows and curtains wide open - although the view out the window from the top floor was amazing to wake up to and no one was overlooking us so we didn’t feel it was a hardship. being an old property there was no fridge/mini bar in the room and no bottled water, so take your own if you get thirsty during the night.

Food was presented well and freshly cooked Staff were excellent and very professional and helpful Extensive menu to choose from and the yorkshire puddings were fantastic The room was spacious and shower adequate
The stairs were steep and the lift only served one floor There did not appear to be any warning about this prior to booking Difficult for people with disabilities The carpets in the room needed cleaning
