Excellent breakfast laid on early for cycle event

Room was above function suite with wedding disco . Very noisy until disco ended which was hugely disappointing as we'd gone to bed early as we had very early start for the cycle event. It prevented us getting a good sleep. It would have been much better to book wedding guests into rooms near the function suite since they wouldn't have been affected by the noise. Strongly suggest you ask people if they are involved in an event ( both wedding and sports events)when they book

There was a problem with our original room making it inhabitable & the hotel was full. I reported this to the hotel management and they dealt with the matter immediately moving us to a Suite for the whole of our stay. Far better than we could have expected!

First room was very small and at the top of the hotel. It was very warm even though it was a cool wet night in August but the worst part about it was the smell of the drains. This was so bad it made me be sick.

The hotel was great and it was the highland games weekend so the red carpet was out. The Dinner was fab and well worth the money as it was not expensive and the breakfast was great too. the rooms were clean and tidy with plenty of space to move about so all good from me.

The only thing was finding the room as the rooms are hard to find as on ground floor you have some 100 and on second floor you go past 200 and up some stairs to find the rest of the 100 but apart from that it was great.

Visited during the heatwave so room was very hot despite supply of fan. Definately not expected in Scotland . Room was clean and comfortable. Meal first night was excellent as was food in bar on second day. Breakfast was very good. Pool was clean and provided brief relief from the heat. Excellent supply of fresh towels. Biggest plus for us were the staff. From reception to dining room to bar and not forgetting cleaners. All 5 star.

A better fan to help cool room. Extractor in bathroom either not working or very weak. Long journey to room on 2nd floor (lift only went to 1st) My fault for not mentioning my recent knee replacement.

We had a lovely double room. It was quiet and comfortable. Our evening meal and breakfast was made all the more special because I had gluten free choices which is very rare for me to find. We were there to celebrate a 70 th birthday and wedding anniversary and the Barony team gave us a complimentary bottle of wine which was really special. The staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble

I can’t think of anything we didn’t like

Very friendly & helpful staff that try to make you feel very welcome & go out their way to make your stay better. The food and restaurant service was of the highest quality & the grounds surrounding the castle are so scenic and beautiful. The pool was also nice.

To be honest as beautiful as the hotel is, it does need a face lift with regards to the rooms. They are outdated & a number of them need painted or some basic repairs. For example put bedroom walls had old stains on them & the window was cracked. The shower could do with being updated also. It's nothing major and certainly didn't dampen our enjoyment, but we've stayed there a number of times and the rooms do feel a bit neglected. I can understand them wanting to keep the character, but investment is needed in certain areas.

Breakfast very good. Room adequate on second floor close to lift which suited us. Dinner very good. Service excellent. We loved our walk to see the polish map of Scotland and the yew archway with alter at the end used for small weddings. We enjoyed and benefitted from the lovely facials we had in the spa area.

The noisy floors above when you wanted to sleep but it is a very old building so to be expected. We were disappointed that the pool table had been removed and replaced by TV screens. We had used the table many times on previous visits.

Lovely pleasant and helpful staff , clean comfortable room lovely gardens

Breakfast was OK, the hot food was a little sparse and had to waitfor some items as my other food went cold but plenty of choice in the cold section and lots of it, there were 3/4 staff standing around at the entrance chatting for our entire breakfast which was a little off putting especially as a few items were running out , identify theretome could have been used more productively, it's only a minor irritant and didn't detract from our great visit

Setting is beautiful. Spacious room. Hotel must know how warm it gets (we were on Third floor) window opened but floor standing fan also provided which was appreciated.

The staff were all lovely, but would be nice if reception staff looked up and acknowledged guests as they pass through foyer. Minor thing but a smile or morning would have been lovely, reception staff were very personable when checking in and out. Only other niggle lighting in room, bedside lights very high so not great for reading by, window small so didn't let in much light.

Historic castle in stunning location with interesting gardens and grounds. Comfortable accomodation. Very clean and very nice friendly staff. Pet friendly which is very welcome. The hotel would benifit from some upgrading of some of the rooms. There were some very nicely revamped and freshly decorated suites which unfortunately were not available to pet owners. Recommend this hotel for a pleasant country getaway.

Rooms above the kitchen area were a bit noisy in the early morning. Also decor tired in these rooms.
