The staff make this hotel. We supported a disabled gentlemen on holiday here for a few days, the staff were incredible, going out of their way to make him feel welcome and included in all aspects of his holiday. Making the effort to talk to him, even some of the factory workers next door went out of their way to have a chat. Thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast each morning and dinners each evening, very good quality food. Nice and spacious rooms with sea views and interesting tour of the nearby factory where they make the boats.

Accessible room was good but was difficult to manouver wheelchair in and out of room as door didn't catch and no door stop. The person we supported would also have benefitted from more bars in the bathroom but for most this would of been suitable. Mattresses weren't to any of our tastes but that is personal preference. Shame about being woken up at 7am one morning by drilling by the workers doing work on the hotel.

We asked for a high sea view room which we got. There was a problem with a small (we thought) water leak in our bathroom which we reported to reception they did offer to change our room 301 but as we were only there 2 nights we were happy to stay although after putting a towel on the floor the 2nd night the leak was worse than we thought and the towel was soaking.

Looking out of our window room 301 in the morning below we saw what looked like a stream of paper being carried on the river underneath the decking area of the hotel. Not sure if this was a sewage outlet as we didn't see it the following day.

Location is great, just a few minutes walk from the waterfront. My room had a view over the harbour where the sun set. Room is nice large size with all amenities. Probably the cleanest room in any of the hotels I have stayed in the UK. As I had to check-out early, they prepared a take-away breakfast for me. Highly recommend the behind the scenes tour of the RNLI College too (I did that during a previous visit to Poole). And don't miss out the restaurant. Either for food or just to have a drink in the upstairs bar sitting on the balcony. All staff was very friendly and helpful.

The balcony could do with a few extra chairs, but I really cannot complain about anything.

Blown away as soon as we entered the reception, The staff were absolutely fantastic - so welcoming, friendly and helpful. Our room was great, with a sea view to oversee an array of RNLI lifeboats. The bar and restaurant was amazing (again with friendly, cheerful staff that were happy to engage ) We enjoyed absolutely everything including proximity to Poole Quay which was absolutely buzzing on a sunny Friday evening and where we headed for on a soggy Saturday morning for a pre-arranged boat trip. . Best of all our stay generated money for the Ultra worthy RNLI. - we will be back very soon for sure

We loved everything

Breakfast nicely cooked. Plenty of choice and good quality. Room was nice, clean and comfortable wiith a.nautical feel. Design and appointments/ fittings/flooring well considered/attractive and functional. View was excellent but had to ask for extra milk in room. All staff excellent. Felt valued and that staff were genuinely concerned with my wellbeing.

Aircon in restaurant blowing draughty on food and self. Breakfast could have been a little warmer and plates kept a little hotter. Enjoyed meal in restaurant. Lift held on fifth floor on one occasion for some reason.

Beautiful location, easy to find and with easy parking. The view is fabulous, staff are excellent, and the whole place was welcoming, clean and very well run. Rooms were very well equipped and the bed very comfortable. It was quiet and there was air conditioning which was great. The restaurant was great for lunch and breakfast. This is a notably different and special place, I think because it is not part of a faceless, corporate entity. The people here really seem to care about where they work and it is clear that this is not just a hotel. It has all the quality and amenities expected of a good quality hotel but it is more than that. We loved it and would definitely make this our first choice if we needed to stay in the same area again.

Some of the breakfast options (specifically, pastries) had run out when we went down (and we were not particularly late) so that was a bit of a shame, but otherwise everything was very good.

What felt like a rather random choice of place to stay turned out to be a brilliant option. Such an interesting building and complex, loved all the little details in the room that made it feel like you were in a cruise ship cabin or posh yacht. Door handles = cleats! View over the harbour with boats bobbing about was beautiful, also loved the row of deckchairs in front of the lifeboats. Private parking was included (permit issued by reception). Now don’t get me wrong, it’s not crazy fancy, but it’s a decent step up from a Premier Inn. Breakfast was self serve style in the ground floor restaurant and again, it wasn’t bad at all. A few things had run out but that’s because we got there late (they serve til 10.30am which I totally appreciate with checkout a reasonable 11am). But we had more than enough, and didn’t even need lunch. I really enjoyed our stay, wish I’d enquired about tours of the whole place.

We just forgot to use the aircon, so it was a warm nights sleep, but that was our fault.

Fantastic ! The room was very clean and comfy with spectacular views over the habour. The breakfast had so many very tasty options and the view again was perfect. All staff were very friendly and helpful including the night porter. Mark Stevens led a very interesting tour . It was so informative . We never knew the history and the far reaching international work today of the RNLI. The simulator was alot of fun too. Thank you Mark. You were amazing, friendly, fascinating and those few funny one liners made us smile. Highly recommend the hotel and tour equally and to know you are supporting the great RNLI work is an added bonus.

We are big fans of the Rnli and yo be able yo stay at the training college with all the boats is special for us. We loved the location the design of the building and rooms, the restaurant is a beautiful design with spiral staircase and the viewing areas give that special view over the harbour and spectacular views at sunset. The staff were so friendly from receptionists to restaurant staff. The whole experience from start to finish will stay with us for a long time.

The only thing we didn't get yo see was the museum and training areas as they were closed by the time we checked in and as we left after breakfast the museum wasn't open and we had a prior booking we had to leave for. But dissapointed that we didn't get to see them. Maybe another time.

This is the RNLI college hotel, primarily intended for volunteers and staff when undergoing training. The facilities are excellent including a proper restaurant, bar with bar meals, terrace overlooking the harbour, all very clean and new. Going down to the bar or restaurant you pass seminar and meeting rooms, recognising the familiar inshore and seagoing training lifeboats moored next to the quay and taking note of displays on the corridors showing the history and work of the RNLI. Very atmospheric. Our double room overlooking the harbour was clean but somewhat utilitarian. Comfy smallish bed, tv, iron & board, unwelcoming sofa, fridge, air con - it’s a college after all, and suitable for periods of study, and the likes of us, stays of a couple of nights.

Not a lot to dislike. It cost £170 per night B&B, which is on the expensive side, whether value for money depends on how you value things. We decided that whatever it cost we would support the institution!
