The room was clean and modern with good facilities and an excellent view of the harbour The building was modern and well designed

The Riggers restaurant. The lack of soft furnishings, the wooden floor, large areas of glass and no ceiling made it a very noisy space. The conversations and laughter were amplified making it hard to talk and the noise was distracting. The dinner menu was very un-inspiring and just 'gastropub' We were sat in a dark corner. The bottle of white wine came un-chilled. My small portion of sea bass on a bed of cabbage and baked potato was very 'east European'

What a fantastic hotel! Brilliant location, excellent value for money, great spacious rooms with lovely views and a great restaurant and bar. The best thing about this hotel however are the staff, who were all so warm, professional and helpful - particular special mention to the wonderful Claire on reception who gave us the nicest welcome after a very long and stressful day. She also organised takeaway breakfasts for us - with a lovely personalised note :) - as we had such an early start and she also made sure the kitchen turned on the coffee machines especially for us before breakfast service. Claire is an absolute credit to the hotel and we will 100% be staying here again largely due to the exceptional service we received. Grisela (sorry if I spelt that wrong) in the kitchen this morning was also so kind and helpful at a very ungodly hour!

Nothing!

I loved the layout of the room and the sea view. The staff were exceptional and the RNLI atmosphere amazing - lots of people bustling about in RNLI uniform. The restaurant was good and the breakfast (included in the price) exceptional. It was really interesting eating breakfast, looking at lifeboats out of the windows. There is a great shop too - where I did most of my Christmas shopping. It was slightly more expensive than the Travelodge (where we normally stay and just down the road) but was so much better!. The rooms were easier to access, there was much more parking (you don't have to worry about losing your parking space) and the car was safer (behind a locked in area). Generally, I felt safer in the RNLI college than at the Travelodge. There were more people about, more lights. more barriers. I also love that the RNLI benefit from our stay. Win-Win!

The duvet could have been thicker. I used the extra blanket but was still a bit cold. The bathroom wasn't quite as posh as the rest of the room. it was fine, but nothing special.

I was going for a boat trip from Poole Harbour Quay and the RNLI was only 5 minutes walk away. There was free carpark and an overflow car park which I didn't need to use. My checkout time was 11am but the staff kindly agreed to let me retain free parking until I got back from my boat trip at 12:30. This avoided me having to pay extra or of having to find another carpark first thing so it was very much appreciated.

I guess it's not the cheapest but its location and the view over the harbour from my room were relaxing so I didn't begrudge the extra few pounds. I would definitely stay here again

I have a passion about Lifeboats and all working vessels whether it be lifeboat, coastguard, customs or police so to come and stay at the headquarters of the RNLI was one on my bucket list. We were lucky enough to arrive in time for the complimentary buildings tour with Gerald, our Tour Guide with a long lifetime of dedication and knowledge of the RNLI. This included being shown the boat simulator which is no doubt a valuable piece of training kit. Likewise the training pool where we were lucky enough to watch crews being put through their capsize and righting training. The rooms all look, out to the Quay where we were lucky enough to see practical hands on training being given for taking vessels in tow. No doubt this work is going on year round to give the mostly volunteers of this service the very best training and equipment to do the work they do in all conditions at sea. They are true heroes in my mind. Staff were all very pleasant and welcoming. The rooms were clean, tidy and comfortable and the restaurant likewise, although the menu was a little limited, the buffet more than made up for this. The cooked breakfast buffet was brilliant to set me up for the day.

The guided tour of the actual workshops where boats are constructed and maintained only takes place on Monday and Wednesday. The buildings tour with Gerald was brilliant but I would have loved to have seen the construction side of things. Unfortunately our visit was Thurs/Fri so we missed out on the full tour sadly. Other than this there was nothing I didn't like about or visit. I will certainly look to go again.

The welcome we received from reception summed up the stay - warm, friendly and ready to help. The rooms are spacious, very comfortable, with wonderful views over Holes Bay. We particular liked having both a big desk and soft seating area in the rooms, and the beds and pillows were incredibly comfortable. The bathrooms were clean and of a good size with a shower over a bath, basin and toilet. The breakfast offered a good choice of continental and cooked food. Despite a wedding party being held at the College on one of the nights, the music was over by midnight and it was quiet all other times.

How to access the car parking wasn't clear when we arrived (one of us had to go into the reception to ask where it was - we were given a guest parking permit at this point). There are times when spaces here are limited, but that's understandable due to it being a car park for both those RNLI staff, visitors to the College and those staying in the hotel.

The staff make this hotel. We supported a disabled gentlemen on holiday here for a few days, the staff were incredible, going out of their way to make him feel welcome and included in all aspects of his holiday. Making the effort to talk to him, even some of the factory workers next door went out of their way to have a chat. Thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast each morning and dinners each evening, very good quality food. Nice and spacious rooms with sea views and interesting tour of the nearby factory where they make the boats.

Accessible room was good but was difficult to manouver wheelchair in and out of room as door didn't catch and no door stop. The person we supported would also have benefitted from more bars in the bathroom but for most this would of been suitable. Mattresses weren't to any of our tastes but that is personal preference. Shame about being woken up at 7am one morning by drilling by the workers doing work on the hotel.

Room was bigger than expected and had more power points than usual. The food was excellent and dinner was reasonably priced. Almost all Staff were outstandingly helpful and friendly. Very handily placed for Poole quay and ferry to Brownsea Island.

When we checked we tried to book dinner but staff in dining room told us we couldn’t book that evening but the we would get priority. This was at odds with advice given by receptionists. When we turned up at restaurant the person in charged said the earlier staff were wrong and we could have booked - in fact we got a table without a problem. Also when we first arrived we tried to get a hot drink but were told the milk had run out! This was the only staff member we found who was not so friendly. Very pleasantly

We asked for a high sea view room which we got. There was a problem with a small (we thought) water leak in our bathroom which we reported to reception they did offer to change our room 301 but as we were only there 2 nights we were happy to stay although after putting a towel on the floor the 2nd night the leak was worse than we thought and the towel was soaking.

Looking out of our window room 301 in the morning below we saw what looked like a stream of paper being carried on the river underneath the decking area of the hotel. Not sure if this was a sewage outlet as we didn't see it the following day.

Location is great, just a few minutes walk from the waterfront. My room had a view over the harbour where the sun set. Room is nice large size with all amenities. Probably the cleanest room in any of the hotels I have stayed in the UK. As I had to check-out early, they prepared a take-away breakfast for me. Highly recommend the behind the scenes tour of the RNLI College too (I did that during a previous visit to Poole). And don't miss out the restaurant. Either for food or just to have a drink in the upstairs bar sitting on the balcony. All staff was very friendly and helpful.

The balcony could do with a few extra chairs, but I really cannot complain about anything.
