We needed to stay near the Hilton without having to pay Hilton prices & fees. This was the best alternative. The 9th floor view was excellent. The heater and electric thermostat worked well. The room was clean. King bed was two beds placed together, but it was comfortable. Walls and door could be better sound proofed, but it's still worth it at this price point for a hotel in D.C. The television had a variety of channels, a lot of them played sports and movies. The lobby has an excellent cafe with dining area, private study nooks, and lounge area. There is also a restaurant at the hotel, but we didn't eat there. The walk to the nearest Metro station was about 15 minutes so it's not the most convenient, but the street that leads you there are lined with a big sidewalk with trees, restaurants, bars, cafes, and shops on both sides. So, it's a safe, comfortable, and fun walk. There are also a few groceries nearby and there's also a Safeway about 15 minutes away.

Good privacy in the dorm, a great view from a large window, clean and modern interior. There is a wonderful space at the reception level very similar to at-home dining and living room areas. Very cosy and beautifully designed. There is also a great morning cafe in-house.

Very poor lighting in the evening. No storage in the room for even a small suitcase - you'll have to empty it into a drawer and bring your own lock. Storage is offered at reception. Even though its a dorm, this is a hotel and not a hostel. There are no option to get a coffee or keep your own food cool.

I stayed in the shared female hostel-room which was very modern with a lot of space, a personal locker and a thick curtain to have privacy in your bed. There is a coffee place and a great bar/restaurant in the building. The lobby is nice and there is a pool and laundry rooms. The bedroom gets cleaned every morning and they give you a fresh towel. The metro station as well as a couple restaurants and bars are within a 10 minute walk

They only give you one big towel ( I just asked the cleaners if I can have a face towel too and that worked) There are no fridges in the shared rooms.

The Generator Hotel is a GREAT value, with wonderful amenities, in an excellent location; walking distance to SO many great restaurants, cafes and shops, and near the UBER international, and musical, Adams Morgan. I enjoyed sharing a well-appointed, quiet and comfortable room with three women from different countries. We became instant friends; went to lunch together, and I have an invitation to Shanghai! All the staff at The Generator were VERY friendly, and helpful. And I love that there's a cafe, and restaurant and bar inside. All great quality & elegant, peaceful atmosphere. Nice chill areas in the lobby, too, for working, or relaxing. Truly, an EXCELLENT value! Grateful. I'll be back! Thank you.

Facility is clean and well maintained. Staff is peasant and friendly. The maid service is good. Security guards at night give a safe feel. The lounge area was a pleasant surprise. The coffee shop off the lobby is very good. It is not affiliated with the hotel. The view from the 7th floor overlooking the Washington Monument was very nice. (See the picture from the room.)

The parking at $40 + $7 tax per night seems excessive. There was a lot of underground space. The pictures in the room were a little weird. The lighting in the room was—too low to read.

I liked the Room especially it has wide area and organized in a Proper way and the beds very very comfortable and the curtains is we’ll designed and the View was amazing from the Room … The bathroom was perfect and cleaned all the time … they are providing towels on daily basis which is great .

I didn’t like the behavior of the Girl person at the Reception she was So tough in dealing and not listening or answering in proper way !! and her conversation with me was not understood ( She is speaking like a street guys ) not like a reception staff . I wish from the Management to take care about the reception staff where they are representing the Hotel and they should be kind with guests .

Great location and view of the city from my room. Shared room but lucked out with amazing people. Hip and clean aesthetic. The lobby is a nice place to just hang out and check-in and check-out was smooth and friendly.

Generator Hostel was clean and kept. People of all ages & ethnicities checking in. Check in was easy & smooth. I reserved a bed in a female, 4 bed dorm room. Each bunk had a curtain for privacy, USB & regular plugs built into the headboards. Each bunk has a locker with a towel and hanger in it. Since I was bringing the metro after dark and not familiar with the neighborhood, I had reservations about walking the half mile to the hostel. The neighborhood was beautiful and felt relatively safe while walking. My visit was very short. Just a late night arrival and a very early morning departure. I didn't have a chance to try the breakfast or coffee shop. But I was very happy with the short amount of time I spent there.

I think the only part I didn't like was the distance from the hostel to the airport and inflated costs of Uber/Lyft early in the morning. But that doesn't really have anything to do with Generator Hostel's responsibilities.

The location is great, and the staff is very friendly. No breakfast was included, but the cafe downstairs has very good food at a reasonable price. The rooms are clean, and in the common rooms, there are curtains that provide some degree of privacy. Overall a very good experience and affordable in that pricy area.

There was a gentleman in our room even though I paid for an all-female dorm. The staff took care of it, though, after I let them know. There are no rules about the time of check in in the shared rooms so it is difficult to get some sleep given people come in even late at night.
