Easy check in and check out, clean room.
Have to ask for room to be serviced a day in advance, stayed 5 days, never had them get the trash.. took it out myself, hotel had no pool, vending or extras, sent 330 am emails asking for you to pay 44 dollars for late check out... sent email with add a tub vs shower for 10 dollars a day, get juliet doors 15 per day, and have little things seem like your on an budget airline nothing done above or beyond unless you add money to already a steep price for bare min accommodations... half mile walk to anything. Room air never was cool... fan provided was way too loud.

We were very fortunate with the location of our room. It was on the top floor facing the front of the property. It was very peaceful and the room decor itself was very nicely done. Beautiful wallpaper, tasteful furniture, and had a nicely renovated bathroom. Overall, it was very cozy and we slept very peacefully.
We noticed two things that could be improved. Firstly, there seemed to be an issue with circulation in the bathroom. It persistently had an awful mildew smell. We were only there for a night. So, it wasn't an issue. However, I could see that becoming a nuisance on a longer stay. Secondly, the windows are very old and do not insulate well at all. In fact, one of the windows was broken and couldn't close. So, our room was a little chilly, but more importantly, I suspect the hotel loses a lot of money on energy costs due to this.

What a steal! I paid less than an Airbnb for this gem of a hotel in the best possible location in DC. The location is truly amazing, nestled in an historic neighborhood among gorgeous old houses and stately trees. My room was cozy and luxurious. I enjoyed having a walk-in shower rather than those weird bathtub like contraptions that still seem to be the default in America. Oh, and they also serve free wine during happy hour!
The internet could have been better. I got dropped on several work calls. I did mention this to the hotel and they promised to set up additional internet boosters to ensure stronger wi-fi coverage across the property.

The staff were wonderful, especially the front desk manager because unfortunately booking.com billed me twice for this stay. The manager has helped me work to get a refund. The beds were comfortable. There was a rain showerhead, which was quite nice.
There was no lamp on the desk, But they had motion detector nightlight in the bathroom under the sink, which was really quite clever. We stayed for five days at this location. I would come back and stay Again. The hall on the second floor was warm, But the room was good and cold , given that it was 95° out, we were thrilled

The Normandy was significantly less expensive than the conference hotel. I could walk to the conference but usually just hopped on a bus using the Metro SmartCard app. The facilities are great--the only very minor detail was not being able to adjust the shower volume and temperature separately. But I love the Normandy as it's a smaller, somewhat boutique hotel with a very friendly vibe from both staff and other guests. I stayed there last year for the conference and I hope to do so again next year.
As mentioned, the shower control was just a little funky. Otherwise, I'm hard pressed to think of anything I didn't like. By the way, it's a fun area of the city. For instance, I enjoyed coming across a cafe with some good jazz playing and various tables set up for people to play chess.

Hotel is located in a nice neighbourhood, a short walk to nearest metro & to Adams Morgan area. Breakfast selection in this hotel may be limited for choice for some people, but to me it was fine. The wine & cheese hour (between 5&6pm) is a nice touch for the guests & the wines on offer were good enough.
Furnishings in my room needed updating; i.e. curtains (could only have 1 open, the other was broken), a stained & faded pink (?) upholstered chair (I would dump that straightaway) & big bathroom mirror had a huge crack in it. Shame, because apart from these it was a spacious & comfortable room, with a good sized fridge & wardrobe.

the hotel is a little gem in a quiet location very convenient for getting to everything you need in DC, metro, sights, embassies, room decor was lovely and space very well used in the rooms with a king bed, very clean, comfortable beds, lovely bathroom, nice pod coffee maker - we enjoyed the wine social and chatting to the very nice member of staff who was assisting guests during the social. Didn't try the breakfast since we had an early start but would definitely stay here again on next visit to DC.
There honestly wasn't anything that I didn't like.

The reception staff was very helpful in giving me a different room when I asked for one (I had requested a quiet room, but was first given one with a loud humming noise). The room was very clean and comfortable though a bit tight on space. The common areas also looked nice and clean. The location is good, a 45-minute walk from the Mall.
Very bad wifi connection in my room, neither my phone nor my computer reliably picked it up. Some rooms seem to suffer from a constant loud noise, probably from the air conditioning system – ask for a room on a lower floor and at the back to avoid the noise. The lady in reception sometimes seemed more interested in her phone than her customers.

Staff were very nice and respectful , always trying to please the guests. Location a super plus… in the city but in a nice and quiet neighborhood. Updated nice bathroom Wine in the afternoons a SUPER PLUS….good wine quality and friendly staff
Elevator needs updating ; room was a bit small and light fixtures were not working adequately. Sorry I forgot to report it. I know they would have fix it…. Staff and comfort made up for the inconveniences

The hotel exceeded our expectations. Starting from the neighborhood, it's so beautiful around the hotel! The staff were the best and I love how they are friendly and not too formal, it makes me feel even more welcome! Bed is super comfortable and the room in general was spotless.
If I'm being super picky: the shades don't darken the room which made me wake up early, but as I only stay for one night, it didn't disturb me really. The pillows were all too high (but of course I could've have asked for another one, so not really a problem)
