The look and comfort of the room. The bed was excellent and I really liked the carpeted floor.

No affordable restaurants close by. The traffic was horrendous so I was forced to Uber everywhere. The desk clerks were unable to accommodate me with local information. And they seemed unequiped to help me get ice. I had to go to the lobby each time. The afternoon desk clerk on duty was fantastic. He would bend over backwards to accommodate my requests, but every other staff member I met disappointed me.

Amazing hotel, with great facilities, a very nice and spacious room with a great view, and great and friendly staff! I booked a room there because I had a conference at the Hilton hotel across the street and I thought that Churchill offered very competitive prices. I was so glad to choose Churchill for this reason. It's literally across the street from Hilton, has a great view, and nothing missing from the Hilton across the street. It's also in a great location to see Kalorama and Dupond Circle around. I loved the experience and would suggest this to anybody.

Even though for me the location was ideal because I wanted to be next to the Hilton conference, I believe that if someone wanted to be next to the main DC memorials, it would be a bit further away, so I'm just letting people know here. If you are aware of the location, then you won't be disappointed in the least from the rest!

Places to stay near downtown Washington are not cheap and this is at the cheaper end. However it is outstanding and I really enjoyed staying for 3 nights. The availability of a free coffee in the morning in the lobby was great (yes there is machine in the room but who wants to bother?). If you are on a city visit then access to Downtown (including National Mall etc) is brilliant. 2 stops on the Red Line from Metro Centre to Dupont Circle then either a short walk ( a bit uphill) or very quick bus ride from the stop near the station near Kramer's bookstore. Was it the 42 or 43? You'll soon find out. I used the bus just once as wasn't sure of distance when I arrived. There is dining at the hotel but I didn't use. There is also dining en route from DuPont Circle to the hotel if you want something local. I rarely stay at places I would 'book again'. This I would without doubt.

Absolutely nothing.

Nice and classic hotel. The room was nice and spacious. However, there was no desk in the room. The bed was confy. Luckily the blinds did close all the way and the room was sound-proof. A bus stop is located in front of the hotel.

When interacting with the front office staff it seemed that that they were not properly trained. I had reserved separately room separately for consecutive nights. They did not realise this but fortuantely I could stay in the same room. However, I had to check-out und check-in on the second day. This procedure was unnecessary and could be improved by investing in further training.

The staff were friendly and professional, the room was well maintained and comfortable. Atmosphere was just right. The proximity to the business areas and meetings location was very adequate. Metro is a 5 minute walk from the hotel. The bus stop is just around the corner.

The WIFI coverage at my room

The rooms are very comfortable as are the beds. The hotel is very close to my daughter so it is a great location for me.

Some of the staff were not very outgoing. I had a window that was stuck open and I had to ask a couple of times for it to be looked at. The second time I asked was when I was returning late in the evening and the clerk wanted to send someone up then, which was at around 10:30 in the evening. I then decided to give the window another tried and managed to get it down most of the way.

Liked the almost art-deco style of room 424. A good sized room with plenty of storage facilities. Appreciated the fridge in which we could have stored drinks etc including the free water. Bed was probably one of the most comfy I have slept in. Thought the box containing the folder with information about the hotel was classy and added to the ambiance of the hotel. The size of the bathroom was also a pleasant surprise. I appreciated the quality of the toiletries - Molton Brown is a classic. Thought the decor was also pleasing - especially the print above the cistern. We both also appreciated the chilled water on tap in reception. Just did not have time to get the benefit of the hot beverages which seemed to be available first thing in the morning. The aesthetics of the hotel are charming and surely a gem of Historic American hotels. For a couple who do a lot of walking it could have been nearer Dupont Circle but saying that it was only a 5 minute walk or so. If we had been staying longer we would have had more chance to explore the surrounding streets which seem to be pleasing on the eye too. A lovely neighbourhood. Can recommend.

The attitude of one member of staff was most disappointing compared to that of others in the team. It exacerbated a difficult and distressing situation. However the General Manager can only be commended for his quick response to my highlighting this to him and also what he has done to rectify the situation. Not everyone would do so and that is to his credit.

I was traveling solo for 2 nights, so preferred to stay at the hotel in the evenings. I went to the Bar on both nights and Amari the Bartender was just wonderful, very friendly and I enjoyed my time there. He is a credit to the Hotel. The Reception staff were great too, printing out documents for me. The beds were really comfortable. Just wish there had been a kettle in the room for tea. Wonderful hotel.

No kettle in Room. Curtains very hard to draw.

Location is central and close to everything. Room was as advertised, with spacious bathroom. They had iron, iron board and a steamer in a room which is especially nice when you travel with a backpack and everything is wrinkled.

Well hotel info mentions that smoking isn’t allowed at all in the hotel but room did smell a bit of cigarette smoke, not unbearable for a short stay though. But it didn’t smell fresh. Parking, even though expensive, wasn’t available due to capacity. It’s not possible to park more than 2 hours in streets nearby, had to park in union station overnight which is quite far but cheapest option in D.C.
