Moss Hotel is the ultimate Salamanca experience, situated within walking distance of many Hobart historic sights. The old building has been repurposed beautifully. Our room had high-ceilings and huge windows with a view to the harbour. We bought delicious meals and local produce at Salamanca Fresh downstairs. The staff were so helpful with tourist information and parking. Highly recommend this hotel.

Our room was spacious and beautifully decorated to highlight the uniqueness of the historical building while being very comfortable. The location was excellent with many great restaurants and attractions within a 10 minute walk - if you’re visiting for Winter Feast it’s directly across the road, couldn’t be more convenient. The staff were all friendly and helpful and the housekeeping team do a great job

Parking is a block away from the hotel and an extra $20 a day, though this is understandable as the hotel is in a historic district and there isn’t an abundance of space for parking. Just worth factoring in your considerations

Perfect location at Salamanca for any sightseeing or restaurants, with great decor and comfort bed. Parking convenient and available for $20 a night which was a good deal for the area. Hotel is on a busy street and our room was right above a pub, you could hear some noise but room is well sound-proofed and didn’t disrupt our sleep.

Bad lighting in the rooms and bathroom, no mirror other than the one in bathroom. Something to note, we wanted to watch a movie after a night out but the TVs are a relic for the price you pay, not offering full free to air options and no streaming/casting option.

Location at Salamanca was excellent with restaurants such as Maldini's almost next door plus great pubs and the markets on Saturday are not to be missed. We shared our dollars and had breakfast out. Tasmania, including Hobart are amazing. So much to experience and places to visit and all within 300klms. We have been to Tassy three times now and will be returning.

Liked the total experience, the people the cities, the towns and most of all the West Coast wilderness forests. Just an amazing holiday experience.

Incredible location, right in the heart of the City. A great space to explore local bars and restaurants from, and right on the Salamanca market road if youre staying for a saturday morning. Would highly recommend, a lovely boutique stay for a couple. They knew it was our anniversary and left a lovely postcard in the room on arrival which was a nice touch.

We kept having to ask for an extra towel as they only left 1 towel for 2 people. There was also no parking available.

Great bathroom, very comfortable bed. Good movie selection on tv and cute Apple left for us instead of a choccie on the pillow type thing. Literally step out of hotel onto Salamanca markets… Close to great food 2 min walk - and an amazing grocery store - close to Banjo bakery for a Scallop pie

Parking was not onsite - close only a 5 min walk but $20 per night for that inconvenience. Two separate buildings close by but confusing. Had view of a concrete wall out our window - not pleasant but tolerable

We loved the location - central and convenient. The room was a great size but had no outlook. The room was super clean, very friendly and welcoming staff.

The room was very warm and unfortunately couldn't turn the heating off. When asked the cooling was put on, but would have been good just to turn the heating off. We had hoped for a little extra as it was our 25th Wedding Anniversary and we had noted that on our booking, but sadly no choccies or anything to spoil us!

The location is perfect, at the footsteps of Salamanca and perched atop the Whaler. And yet, the rooms feel incredibly private and removed from all the action, quiet and peaceful. The general ambiance is moody, calming and a great place to unwind. Our room was spaceous, clean and with a gorgeous outlook.

This may have been a once off and possibly due to short staff, but we struggled to get contact with any person working for the hotel. There was no one at reception each time we went to visit.

Hotel was a great location, staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Hotel also accommodated an earlier check in time. The toiletries were high quality, and the presentation of the room was excellent.

The room was described as still being quiet for a front facing hotel however there were some nights where there were extremely loud parties in the irish pub directly downstairs. It was also difficult to get back into the hotel front door when these events were on as the people on the street were quite rowdy. This is out of control of the hotel, however it made some nights unpleasant trying to get back into the room.

The location is superb, right on Salamanca Place, just minutes walking to the wharf and Battery Point hill. There are two hotels actually but both are discreet, and in the hotels themselves, it is really quiet and there was no noise at all in our room. We had a car so accessed the small parking bay from a side street, where we were given a pass to take the car to an indoor car park about a 5 minute walk away. Cost $20 a night. We had a King Pod room, for 3 days, very moody, large and ultra cool. Beautifully furnished and Grown Alchemist products in the bathroom, huge fluffy towels for the very large shower, a fabulously comfortable king bed which I want in my own home. Welcoming apples. A long window seat from where you can relax by the terrific view of the interesting vertical garden outside. Staff couldn’t be more helpful, always available.

It would have been a perfect score rating for this hotel except for the air conditioner. Because unfortunately the huge window to the vertical garden doesn’t open, you rely on the air conditioner. The only problem was that we finally only learned how to operate it the morning we were leaving, despite staff showing us so we were too warm in bed at night. We couldn’t find the switch to even turn it off. The rooms have mood lighting so are a bit dark which makes it hard to see things properly, the on off button was right on top. A sheet with instructions in the compendium would be helpful. Oh, and there is no Netflix!
