This is a spacious and comfortable campsite. The common areas are great for relaxing—you can play board games, read, or even work in small rooms equipped with desks. There’s also a bar in the basement where you can play pool and enjoy a beer. Occasionally, the hostel organizes activities, giving visitors the chance to connect, have fun, and meet new friends. The hygiene is impressive. Despite people constantly coming and going, the facilities—including the bathrooms, kitchen, and laundry—were always clean whenever I used them. The hostel is located away from downtown, allowing you to enjoy the natural beauty of Banff in peace. My roommates were very polite and made an effort to keep quiet, even when returning late at night. I was lucky to have such considerate and respectful roommates. Overall, I enjoyed the trip in Hi Banff~
It may not be convenient for travelers without a car. However, the hostel offers a shuttle bus service for traveling between Banff downtown and the hostel, or you can opt to take a public bus.

Good location away from the hectic town but a free bus pass to use to get to town and other locations if needed. Plenty of free parking next to hostel. Clean washrooms. Fully equipped kitchen. Nice cheap restaurant on site. Very helpful staff. Bear spray could be borrowed from reception.
The room doors couldn't be closed quietly which meant being woken up at all hours as people came and went. Rooms very hot. Difficult to sleep. Kitchen doesn't open early enough for people wanting to get their picnic food out for the day or for a quick breakfast. Should be open from 5 am.

This place is wonderful! Farther away from the busy city life, this is a good place to relax after hikes. I liked how the kitchen was organized. It was clean given the number of people that came through it. Sometimes it would get busy, but everybody was very courteous. The dining room is nice and the tables and chairs outside with a mountain view are top. My son loved chilling in the hammocks outside. He once lost one of his airpods there. After searching everywhere, he came to the reception and there it was, his airpod! The reception was super helpful, and they also provided guests with passes for the local ROAM bus network. I appreciated our stay!
Other people in the room running in/out multiple times and being noisy at 2-3 am. However, we had a wonderful neighbour after moving to another room (we had two sequential bookings). Most frying pans were old and bent and were pretty useless. During a busy morning, we had to wait for the only brand-new one available (not a big deal in the end).

This is a lively place to stay in - much fun. The in-house cafe is great, especially for breakfast. The communal shower/ toilet/bathroom facilities were kept diligently clean. The terrace and communal indoor areas were characterful, inviting and popular.
Our private double room was very small indeed, with barely enough space to walk around the small double bed. It was basic and not comfortable nor cosy. The price for this kind of room was extortionately high. The whole hostel has a nice log cabin style atmosphere in reception, lounge and cafe, but beyond that it was very spartan. The whole hostel could do with a general overhaul and modernisation.

The Hi Banff Hostel was truly a great respite considering the surrounding context and other lodging arrangements in Banff. Great for solo traveling, the hostel provided more than enough for the stay alongside clean, welcoming facilities that made the stay worthwhile. If you’re looking for a respite from Banff’s major downtown fabric, I suggest the hostel for your visit! PS: The downstairs bar was great! Ended up talking to and getting to know my above bunk mate and got a couple drinks at the downstairs bar. Great lil experience!!
My only negative comment would be that the showers seemed to drain slowly. Throw some Green Goblin or Draino down there, and there ya go!

I had three nights over here. end of June 2024. Staffs are very friendly and helpful. I see they are trying their best to help guests. Also The room and bathrooms are all clean; even shared bathroom are clean. The common area and kitchen are all clean and very nice and big enough for many people at the same time but I wish the refrigerator is bigger because I couldn't find a space in the fridge room to put my food basket. When I stayed there all the guests were so kind and quite. Didnt have any problems for hot/cold water.
-couldn't find a refrigerator place to put my food basket. -The weather was little cold and room was cold as well. So I turned on the room heater with wall thermometer but it was still cold and it seemed the heater is not working... and I found a mini portable heater by the desk to use.. yep that worked. so the wall thermometer heater is not working. You need to you the portable heater in the room. It wasn't a big problem for me. but FYI

The hostel is super cute, clean and cozy. The staff are all very nice, warm and helpful. I love the high ceiling and the fire place in the building where you can meet people from different places. Dorms are nice and quiet without shower room inside so you don’t have to worry about the noise while you sleep. They do have toilet in the room so no need to go out of room in the middle of the night. It is perfect for solo travellers even friends/ couples if you are going to spend the day out exploring or do snowboarding (which I think most people will do that as there are too many things to do in Banff) and come back to the hostel in the evening to just chill. They also have breakfast menu, the burrito is pretty good.

Basement rooms are small, but beds are comfy. Kitchen is well equipped and dining room is big enough. Terrace is nice with great views and cafe has affordable coffee. Hostel gives a free ticket for all local buses and I do recommend taking all buses: to Minnewanka lake, Sulphur mountains, etc All locations are worth visiting. Nice hikes start nearby.
Hostel is located a bit far away, but there's a bus going from the centre. With a free ticket from reception getting to the place is easy.

We stayed in a 4-bed mixed dorm. Each bed has its own locker where you can keep things. However, don't forget to bring your own lock and keys. A decent kitchen space with a cafeteria. The staff did a great job in keeping the property clean. The location is great and we are provided with a free ROAM service day pass which can be used for Routes 1, 2, 4 and 6.
I found my pillows very hard. A softer pillow could have been served. The price of the hostel is on the higher side, but considering it is in Banff, I think it is expected.

the front desk staff was friendly and helpful, love how the accomodations provides cutlery, kitchen and cooking appliances in the kitchen, outside the hotel was beautiful and also the location is easy to find, also grateful that the hostel gave us free shuttle bus tickets
in room carpet was not really clean, there were some dust in the corners of the bed, would be great if sandals provided to take a shower since the bathroom are shared and few walks from the room
