My experience from the minute I booked until I handed in the keys was exceptional. I could not say enough about the friendliness of the two staff members I interacted with. I had several special requests that they accommodated without hesitation. The room exceeded my expectations and was such a treat from the typical hotel space. I wanted to give my sister in law who just lost her husband and flew in for a one day visit a wonderful Victoria experience and the room, location and overall experience was perfect. For me it was a wonderful “staycation”.
There is absolutely nothing about the total experience I didn’t like!

This was a wonderful stay. We loved pretty much everything. The house was very nice. Our room was amazing with a view to the sea. There was a large comfortable Victorian looking bed, in room heat, and Dyson fan for cooling. Coffee was available in the room too. We could also go down to the dining room if we wanted to grab water, tea or home baked cookies that were prepared daily. There was a good breakfast, fruit, juice, coffee or tea and usually eggs, bacon or ham in some fashion depending on the menu for the day. The staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful. I loved them, and I felt very relaxed there. Oh, and we saw deer in the next door yard and two peacocks (actually a peacock and peahen together) in the manor yard. It was just amazing! And we were able to have an absolutely lovely walk along the walkway by the sea, looking out at the wide expanse of water and people parasailing/ gliding. You could also take paths down to the beach to walk along the shore. It was all just across the street! Amazing. For our anniversary weekend, I think this was better than going to a hotel. It's quite romantic. (I'm putting this one tiny issue here because I don't want it to appear at the beginning of the review, as it does when I fill out the review form: We had a very late check-in (around 11pm), so since the windows were left open it was a little chilly when we came in. Fortunately, there was a cute fireplace style heater that warmed it up. It took about 10 min to heat the whole room satisfactorily since the windows had been open for so long in the evening. But there were no other issues at all concerning the temperature and amenities in the room after that.) Overall this was a very nice weekend for us.

Coming from the Yukon we are more Bushed than Bourgeois, I wanted a historical accommodation where we felt welcome and comfortable. The Dashwood delivered in every way. We loved our room, fresh cookies, and vegetarian breakfast at our request. Close enough to walk into the tourist shopping area, yet not right in the city so quieter than downtown properties. The staff were friendly and super helpful. We will definitely return on future Victoria trips!

Great view from Cambridge room. Breakfast was delicious and the service was stellar. The dining room decor was elegant.
It would have been nice to have a bottle of water in the room but everything needed was available in the dining room.

The staff was excellent (Iain was very welcoming) and breakfast was wonderful - my compliments to the in-house chef! The room was comfortable and well-maintained, and the location was perfect for me.
The only negative for me was that there was very little noise buffer between my room and the entryway and the breakfast room. Other guests woke me and my friends up as they were leaving. This isn't something that will prevent me from staying here in the future, but it will prevent me from booking the downstairs room again. So, perhaps something to look into for the next round of improvements.

The Dashwood was a lovely oasis of serenity. My daughter and I stayed in Camelot, a delightful, airy space on the top floor with cleverly used nooks and crannies. One bed is set back in a cozy niche, with an optional screen which we didn’t use, while the king is in the main space. Windows on 3 sides, with screens, allow for wonderful cross ventilation, making the room cool despite the lack of central AC. We never needed the high end Dyson fan provided (Highs were up to 75 degrees F, so not that hot to begin with.). Breakfast was delicious and varied, and homemade cookies were available 24/7. The staff were incredibly kind. There’s parking on site, and a dog park and ocean walk in front, and Beacon Hill park across the street.
The park like setting also means it is a little further away from the city center, about a walk of 25 minutes. Be sure to allow walking time or arrange cabs in advance if you need to get into town at a specific time. We did not, and wound up speed walking to the Empress for tea after Yellow Cab said it would be at least 20 minutes wait, and Uber and Victoria taxi had no availability at all , at 5 pm on a weekday.

This is a lovely alternative to staying at a typical big hotel chain. The location was perfect for us right along the Dallas Rd seawall beside Beacon hill park. We enjoyed some walking and was easy access to running routes. The manor has a unique history and the rooms are nicely decorated and the gardens are well kept. Overall, it was an authentic historical experience. The bathroom was a tad small, and close to needing an update, but did not take away from the comfort of the large suite and soaker tub we had in the room. The Oxford room is great for staying with family and the view from this room was spectacular! The breakfast service was delicious and it was very nice to have fresh cookies and some refreshments available all day. We had a car so it was easy to access many of the other sites of Victoria from this place. Parking was free, and right on site. We will definitely stay here again.
Nothing actually, this is exactly what you would expect from staying in an historical manor.

The Dorset room was spacious and being on the top floor, very quiet. The breakfasts were wonderful especially the blueberry pancakes and bacon morning. Fresh flowers from the gardens out front were on the tables in the breakfast room every morning. A nice little touch. Loved the beverage and cookie bar open all day. Kayla made our trip even more enjoyable. She’s enthusiastic, friendly and truly seemed to love her job. Plus free parking next to building. I appreciated the complimentary toiletries because I forgot my own.
Our bed was a little soft and being a gardener myself, the flower beds could use a lot of attention. The wind off the water made it not so pleasant for me to sit outside on our balcony or take a walk in the park across the street. Next time I’ll bring a hat and a warmer jacket. None of these things will keep us from coming back again though. 😊
