Funky colours, swimming pool. Good vibes
We were on the 3rd floor so to get a cuppa in the morning, we had to get dressed, walk downstairs and across the carpark to the reception area. It would have been great to have tea and coffee making facilities in the bedroom. Instead there was a massive tv- totally unnecessary, a microwave and a fridge. Nice to have, but how much to guests use them?

This is the best, most unique hotel I have ever been to. It even beats other 4-star hotels :) I thought that this was just going to be another regular place but I was tremendously happy to find out I was wrong as soon as I arrived. The enormous attention to phenomenal details at every level are enough to charm me into staying forever. This hotel surpasses it's tremendous aesthetic only in incredible character. At Hotel Zed, I am spoiled with an easygoing staff attitude, generous care, and complimentary items for the family. Love, Roxy Feller
There is absolutely nothing that I did not like. I am only displeased when the hotel is full of guests so that I cannot be there.

The whole vibe of the hotel was amazing. Straight outta my Grandma's house! Retro look, but new furniture. Room was very clean, beds were amazingly comfortable!! The fresh ground coffee and real cream for mornings was unbelievable. We had a 3 bed room, and one of our people decided to sleep on the cushion of the couch as a cot, and the housekeeper even made THAT bed up for her!! They were super friendly and accomodating. It was a great location to our venue (we were there for rollerderby) and close to many restaraunts/shopping. Would defininately stay there again.
The only downside was not under their control. They are in middle of renovating this unique place and in such, the pool/hottub was not available :( Nor was the guest laundry (we just hung things up to air dry) The parking also was a wee bit cramped, but doable. (And..being on the 3rd floor when you are old and totally out of shape was an eye opener of how reliant we are on elevators (Good thing I had my daughter to help carry the luggage up!)

Staff very upbeat, personable and helpful. There was feeling of genuine care from all staff and the attention to details from the decor, to the cleanliness, the coffee and tea service and French press, the common room with games, typewriter and record player… all was brilliant. The kids loved the pool and water slide! It made their stay memorable. Side note, the Ruby is bang on and a great partnership. It really added to the stay as well.
The vibe was rocking! Like everything! Only thing didn’t like was having to leave and go back to reality!

Our room was overall very nice. It was clean, well lit, and had enough room for our luggage. Bed sheets felt clean. Bathroom was exceptionally clean. And the whole hotel was recently renovated, so everything felt new despite the retro/vintage decor. We had a rental car and parking was included in the stay, which was awesome. We had no trouble finding parking even later in the evening. Locations was a bonus as it was close to the sightseeing as well as being right next to a mall and food spots. The front desk was super kind and friendly. They even offered some freshly ground coffee and tea to go with our stay. They were super accommodating to all our needs, even when we requested for a room on the first floor during booking. We didn't use the pool, but it looked super fun. And there were free bike rentals from dawn until dusk, however we did not use them either.
Downside was that there's no elevator, so keep that in mind if you have a lot of suitcases to lug around. However, I messaged them upon booking requesting for a room on the first floor if possible and they were kind enough to grant us that room. There's also some kind of construction going on of a building behind the hotel so there is a bit of noise. Although we were out most of the day so it didn't bother us.

We really enjoyed our room. We booked a suite that had a separate bedroom and accommodated our family of five. The staff were very friendly and went out of their way to make our stay more enjoyable.
We received an email from the hotel the morning of our stay saying there was construction, but not to worry because the pool was still open. When we arrived, we were told the pool was closing for the rest of our stay for maintenance. Very disappointing. Staff tried to make up for the closing by giving us passes for the municipal pool. We did enjoy our one day of pool access and would stay there again if the pool was open the entire time.

I was so impressed with my entire experience here, from the minute I checked in staff was so kind, helpful, welcoming and friendly. The pool was amazing, soooo warm, the kids (and i) had the most fun on the slide and the room was farrrrrrr more than I expected. It was a PERFECT location close to every amenity and 5 minutes drive to downtown if that. I was so sad to leave!
Literally nothing could have been better.

I really enjoyed the comfort, location and ambience. My certified service dog enjoyed it too. Really funky place in a great location.
When I called the hotel to get a quote on the price per night.. I checked out a day early, but my refund didn't match the quoted price. That really was my only critical comment. I guess if the nightly price quoted wasn't the case, it just would have been good to know that up front. That said, I'd certainly recommend, and stay there again.

We had a great stay! Family of 4 (2 teens). Staff came by and emptied our trash and replaced towels daily, which was appreciated. My kids loved visiting the pool each day. Close proximity to pizza, fast food, drinks, and shopping. The hotel was fun and different! They have bikes and longboards for family use.
For our family of 4, it was very small, but we didn't spend a ton of time in our room so I was not bothered by it. One of the nights we were there, it was pretty loud! I thought I was at a fraternity! It didn't stress me out. I have loud teens, but if you are looking for a super quiet stay, check on your room placement??

The value of this property is fantastic. It's got quirky feels and they really lean into that quirkiness to absolutely fantastic effect. It's not your parent's idea of a hotel, for sure. The beds are definitely the most comfortable on our 2 week trip, we just wish we had spent more than one night on the bed. Staff, accommodations, attention to detail were all excellent. The restaurant serves fantastic food.
The area around the hotel is a little sketch. There's construction right next door that won't affect you at night, but the daytime can get a bit noisy, at least in the near future (this was written in 9/23). There is a fairly thriving homeless community in the area, in case that bothers you (it just reminds me that we have a ways to go as a society).
