Located outside Castlebar on its own land so quite seculded but plenty to do from the well appointed leisure centre & spa to the marked walking routes (2km to 5km). Rooms were spacious & very clean. Beds comfortable. Overall an excellent friendly hotel. If you just want some rest & relaxation this is the place.

My only complaint would be menu in the bar is quite boring. Typical bar menu, burgers, pizza, steaks etc.would have expected something a little different from such a good hotel. Surprised no vegan options or just a little more imagination. There is of course the very grand Mulberry restaurant onsite which we didn't go to, bit too formal for us this time round. Having said all that, the two nights we ate in the bar the food we got was delicious. So it is a minor complaint.

Love Breaffy house hotel, this is my second time here and I loved it both times. Didn't manage to make the spa this time but last time it was amazing. Room was gorgeous as usual and staff were so friendly. Loved having coffee out in the front terrace after breakfast in the morning . And gorgeous views and landscaping. Its in a great location if you are visiting Castlebar and is only a short hop into town for dinner or drinks. Would highly recommend..

The only downside is the breakfast. Its fine if you are having a continental breakfast but if you are going for the fry, it was cold and not great. But everything else was amazing so this wouldn't put me off staying.

it’s a beautifully located manor or estate within an hours drive from some of the most beautiful breathtaking scenery on the planet.

firstly, every bedroom door on my floor closed with a ridiculously loud slam so from 7am you’re awake whether you like it or not. secondly my hotel room door allowed an inordinate amount of hall lighting to seep through under it so my room was illuminated during the night. only a shall thing but I like pitch black. thirdly check in after 4pm and out before 11 means you’re not getting 24hrs for your buck.

Modern refurbishments made me feel very comfortable during my six night stay (felt five star not four star). The breakfast selection is super, and a dinner at the mulberry restaurant is a must, for fantastic food and wine, excellent service, and a lovely calming atmosphere. Leisure facilities are great with a decent sized pool, very nice spa amenities and welcoming staff. I really enjoyed the complementary flotation tank experience before my massage. The grounds are an absolute delight for walking and exploring. The location is fantastic for getting out and about to see the mountains, visit Knock, or generally roam around nearby national parks and towns.

Breakfast can be busy so I was sometimes forgotten and had to request tea/coffee for myself. They don't enforce the no kids in the pool after a certain time but generally the kids are behaved. Wearing a swim cap is a good idea but can be a little uncomfortable. Don't forget your padlock for changing room lockers. The steam room is a bit too hot - would recommend regulation of it.

This was a surprise trip for my partner and it was a winner from the minute she saw the building itself. A most welcoming hotel with all staff being polite, professional and couldnt do enough for us when asked. She who must be obeyed was really impressed with the room and its facilities and I received serious brownie points for my choice!!! All the food was of a high standard and the dining areas were as expected of a quality hotel.

A very minor point. Perhaps some better signage on the lovely walks around the grounds. We were never going to get lost but there was little to tell us which colour walk we were on.

Beautiful location, serene vast wooded landscspe in a very small village. Only stayed one night but it was luxurious. We arrived a little late so we had no time to walk the vast grounds. There are lots of lovely walkways to explore, the grounds are vast. The hotel decor is impressive and stylish. There is a vast array of seating and relaxing areas to avail of both within and outside of the Hotel. Outdoor seating areas are vast. The seating is abundant and comfortable placed among beautiful plants and trees. Generous roomy areas. There is a child friendly area with a playground at front of the Hotel. The smokers are also well cater for with plenty of seating in the smoking area.

Having to book a breakfast time. This is a little restrictive for a person on holiday. We took a late breakfast slot but sadly found some of the food overcooked and a little colder that it should have been, although I must say the selection was excellent.

Large, striking hotel in beautiful grounds. Interior is a little in need of updating in places but our room with freestanding bath was great. The staff were all delightful, especially at reception and James behind the bar. Breakfast buffet was fabulous, food in Healy Macs was way above average for "bar food" and very much enjoyed the vocal stylings of Cieron in there on our second night. Overall really enjoyed our stay.

The room wasn't cleaned as well as I'd have liked (floor was dusty in places so it was unpleasant to walk barefoot and anything set down was dirtied). The changing rooms for the pool were a bit grubby and the pool area itself felt overcrowded due to it being open to the public and during school holidays - though the actual facilities were really good.

Fab hotel lovely and clean nicely decorated rooms bathrooms and views. Staff all amazing especially restaurants staff and wee macs bar staff. The head barman very kind and accommodating for customers looking for tables to eat. !! Great food in all areas. Beautiful grounds and walks . Enjoyed the planned walks and our visit to cemetery to look up deceased members of our family a great stay all round.. next visit to mayo will definitely book again. We all agreed we didn't want to leave.

A noisy generator or pool machine but it was sorted next day

The forest walks around the resort are absolutely delightful! We had a range of options to choose from depending on how much time we had and what attractions we wanted to see. We did most of them and would recommend them all. The room was clean and cozy. We got ourselves their signature suite overlooking the fields and the forest. The in-room spa was nice. Loved spending time in the freestanding bathtub with the fragrant soak set (made with all natural ingredients), after a long day of exploring. Food at the restaurant was mighty! Be sure to have an appetite or hit the bar instead. I liked the service in general. We saw a lot of kids around, at the restaurant, the pool etc. Clearly they have a lot of options for folks travelling with family which is cool. We had a good time and would love to go back again.

Our keycards stopped working a couple of times and we had to go to the reception to get them re-activated.

From our arrival to leaving our stay was fantastic. We originally booked for one night but within an hour of being at the hotel we knew one night wasn't enough so booked in for the following night also. We were staying in the signature suite which is a fabulous room with a bath in the main room also. Very comfortable room with everything you could need. The food, service and drinks in the bar were top class. The cocktails were the nicest I've ever had. We booked a couples massage in the spa which was so relaxing. We had dinner in the Mulberry restaurant on the first night. Food was amazing. Everything came out piping hot and so so tasty. Service was also quick and every staff member was so helpful. Breakfast was also served in the restaurant area, again, top class. We will definitely be coming back to stay here again. There were a lot of families staying here also. There are lots of different walks and activities for kids to do, including a kids disco in the evening this weekend. All of the kids got an Easter egg from the hotel over the weekend also which shows the level that the hotel and staff go to for their customers. Amazing, amazing hotel!

Nothing, it was all great.
