This place has soul! It's unique and specialised, the building is old and well-maintained, the staff delightful and helpful. We even really enjoyed the food, which is unusual because I'm fussy! My room was huge and had a little porch area outside, there was a tiny window within the larger ones i could open for air without compromising security, there was a tub, and I loved the sunshiny yellow of the bedspread and curtains.

The only thing I'd want different would be: some more shelf or counter space in the bathroom to put toiletries on, and more vegan/organic possibilities in the menu. Also I think someone in the town should realise that visitors might want long hikes, and resurrect old trails or whatever - hikes all seemed to involve roads with too much traffic.

The location of the hotel was great, across the street from a church and easy walking distance to shops and restaurants. We were a family of four and we had a bed for the adults and two twin beds for the children. There was an area raised up where one of the twins beds was that had half walls and gave the feeling of being its own room. Every bed had a nightstand and lamp. There was an in-room coffee machine and plenty of coffee. There was a table and chairs to eat at in addition to the desk. They had a nice pitcher of water with glasses in the room. The wardrobe closet had hangers and nice shelving, with fun decorative mirrors inside. The bathroom was smaller but had a nice shelf to put your toiletries. The shower worked well with good pressure and hot water. The tile in the bathroom was cute. I liked the decor overall. It felt historic but had been updated. The beds were comfortable. There was a restaurant on site where we ate breakfast each day. I

There was a strange loud noise in the evening around 20:00 or so and in the morning around 6:30 or so that sounded like an air raid. We asked a staff member what it was but she didn’t hear it or know what it was. It woke me up and frightened my daughters.

Really enjoyed our stay at the Emmet Hotel. The room we stayed in was beautiful and overlooked the square. The food was amazing and the staff were so friendly and helpful. In particular Samantha on reception was an excellent host and helped us secure accomodation when we decided to stay an extra night and the hotel was full. She couldn't have been nicer to us and she was full of local knowledge about the best pubs to go to and the best places to visit. I will definitely return there because they were so nice and the hotel was so warm and comfortable with a lovely bar and fabulous food and lots of areas to chill and relax.

The fact we couldnt stay longer.

Hotel was absolutely spotless . The beds were exceptional comfortable and also the pillows , the location of the hotel is so handy for everything, the staff were lovely , the added surprise of the library ,the quirkiness of the room with the coloured lockers, the nice wallpaper and the added little extras on the tea tray. I loved that they had an actual key rather then a key card and it felt very personal. When I hung the do not disturb sign on my door I found fresh towels , shampoo , soap and toilet roll outside the door later on . It was a lovely hotel stay overall.

The room said it would have a bath but it didn't only a shower although the shower was great. , the walls were paper thin and I could hear my neighbors snoring and turning on and off their lights

Great welcome from Tim. We arrived tired and hungry as we drove directly from Dublin to Clonakilty. He made a homemade ham and cheese sandwich followed by a homemade scone. Delightful. The beds are very comfortable—friendly professional employees serve a good quality Breakfast. A good standard of cleanliness was observed in the bathroom and the shower was excellent. The library houses a treasure of books from philosophy to Irish history, plus plenty of material on Clonakilty and its environs.

The sink in the bathroom is too low - I kept hitting my head on the shelf!!! Very little shelf space for toiletries.

The lady / ladies, were exceptional, lovely women, and the staff in the bar , were lovely... the dinner was just fabulous that night, ..

Breakfast was a bit funny , just think the girls forgot to lay the table out in the sunroom with everything, had to ask for a few things , milk, butter, sugar, and there was only 2 ceral options, and also had to ask for ordinary toast, which was unusual, don't get me wrong they had toast out but sourdough and home made brown also lovely, I'm a plain Jane 😉

2nd time staying here, years apart but still the same very comfortable stay. Brilliant location, right in the town. The staff are excellent, couldn't do enough for us. I asked for a bottle of prosecco to be in the room on arrival as it was my partners 40th birthday. We were shown to our room and after she spotted the bottle the staff member actually wished her a happy birthday. Nice little touch. I also think that the hotel bar serves one of the best pints of Murphys in the town. Easily in the top 3 pints in the town

Small complaint but just something I personally didn't like was the Hollandaise sauce on the eggs Benedict. Far too much of it on the eggs but this is my own personal opinion.

I was riding a motorcycle and they provided me with a secure lock-up area inside their store room which was really great staff are truly wonderful really pleasant really nice I must say these family run hotels beat the socks off big huge corporate chains!

That I couldn't stay longer! The breakfast was absolutely beautiful as well and whoever made up that orange juice and scrambled egg on sourdough toast it was heavenly

A nice family run hotel. Staff were friendly and helpful. Just off the main road so was quiet at night. Breakfast was freshly cooked and delicious.

Nothing in particular. Could have done with another key as sometimes my husband and I were not together which caused a little inconvenience. However I’m sure if we had asked at the front desk, we could have resolved this.

Rooms were snug but the facilities were excellent, lovely shower, decent hairdryer and a top notch coffee maker are things I hope for and was delighted with…

booking.com hadn’t included breakfast! The extra cost wasn’t too expensive and the made to order and freshness of the food was worth it. Parking is not private but I got a spot right outside at 17.30 on a Saturday of a bank holiday, so wasn’t an issue.
