The friendliness of the staff, staff assistance, nice menu and a fairly firm mattress. A young lady in the bar/restaurant was simply marvelous, we were not well and had no appetites. It was arranged that we were served a half portion off the menu which was perfect.
We called this "the up the down staircase hotel." No lift and stairs that went up and up then down to get to the room. Hard on the legs and back for two old gals in their 70's, not to mention the staff having to clean and change the rooms on a daily basis. We were over the kitchen and there was no hot water in the bathroom until precisely 8 am after running it for more than a minute, have to think it was from the kitchen preparing breakfast and washing dishes. A little hard to get to from the buses and train station for older guests.

It was an amazing value in our favourite part of Dublin, the North Side! We loved the little restaurant and bar downstairs, and our room was snug but comfortable. It was an amazing value and the staff were very nice and helpful. I personally loved the funkiness of the place as well, and the crazy 70s lounge vibe going on in the bar on a Monday night was one of my highlights for the trip. Wow.
I mean, it was a pretty small room for a double and a single, but that was expected, so. I used to stay in hostels all the time, and this was so much better than that. We were thankful to be pointed to the free parking on the side street and maybe a little lucky to find a spot. For some reason, I thought there was dedicated parking for guests, based on the listing.

The reviews of this hotel on booking.com had made me feel dubious about our stay so on arrival, when everything was much better than other guests made them out to be, I was very pleased. I don’t know if other people are just incredibly picky or if I’m just easy to please but the hotel is great, would definitely recommend. Clean room with basic amenities, well stocked tea/coffee facilities in the room each day, warm shower and 30-40 minute walk to Dublin centre, at a reasonable price for Dublin as a whole. Lovely little bar in the hotel too.
The walls are very thin so you can hear other guests in their rooms, which I can imagine could be frustrating if you didn’t have conscientious neighbours, but we didn’t have an issue during our stay.

Nice and helpful staff, clean accommodation located in a quiet, homey neighborhood, convenient to both the center of Dublin and the airport, close to many services and The National Botanical Gardens and the historic Glassnevin Cemetery. The restaurant in the basement had excellent food and a friendly, neighborhood vibe. My room was very quiet, clean and private.
The property is just a little dated and could do with a little sprucing up, but for the money, I thought this place was an excellent value.

Every member of the hotel staff was very kind and considerate on any occasion we had questions. Also, since our flight arrived in the morning and check-in wasn't until the afternoon, they offered to hold our luggage. As it turned out, our room was available and we were able to check-in when we arrived. The neighborhood is very lovely and a short walk to both the bus stop bringing us to/from the airport and the one we used to access other areas of the city. When we needed a taxi, the gal at the desk called for one and it arrived within a few minutes. The hotel has it's own pub and restaurant (very nice!) but is also close to other restaurants. Overall, this is a fantastic place to stay and I look forward to staying there again!
The stairs are a bit difficult to maneuver as the stairway is narrow, as well as the steps. But that is part of it's charm (if you don't have difficulty taking the stairs as there isn't an elevator).

The location is just perfect - far away enough from the center that you don't get any late night noise/etc. but only a 20 minute walk or an even shorter bus journey. Definitely try the food - the roast beef was incredible. The room was quirky and interesting (unusually shaped). I don't know if it would be to everyone's taste but it gave me that sense of adventure I was really craving. I like hot showers and I was not disappointed. The staff were very accommodating; I'd only booked flights and the hotel the night before so I hadn't planned anything properly like booking breakfast but they went out of their way to sort everything out for me.

The hotel is nestled away in a quiet residential neighborhood- the staff was above and beyond kind nd helpful - the room was really nice and comfortable. And it was so warm even though it was freezing outside.
The bedding/linens fragrance was very strong - and I have sensitivities to aromas - asthma, and allergies - it was hard to fall asleep with the strong smell. That being said, most people would probably really love that! And the staff was so nice and willing to help me get different bedding if I needed; but I ended up sticking with the OG room.

Easy to find - though it was my third or fourth visit anyway. A walkable distance from the city centre but also close to a couple of bus routes. Staff were lovely, professional and friendly. Although there is a lively bar downstairs it didn't disturb me. Very close to Glasnevin Cemetery and the National Botanic Gardens where you can have a good walk for free.
The electric sockets were awkwardly placed - I had to boil the kettle on the floor. I couldn't figure out how the shower worked. The weather was very hot but not much anyone could do about that!

This is a very cosy hotel with incredibly welcoming staff and a comfortable room. We overspent on dinner the first night but the food was delicious and the atmosphere in the restaurant great. I like that they have heaps of visitor information available about things to do in Dublin. We didn't have long in the city, but the info really helped us plan our time wisely. Other reviews have complained about noise from the function venue downstairs. There were events on both nights we were there, but our room was positioned so we didn't hear them. All we heard on the second night was chatter from party goers outside having a smoke. The noise was there, but not overwhelming. It was a comfortable stay and we'd happily book there again in future if we find ourselves in the city.
The bathroom is very small and the shower super slippery. A bar fridge would be a great addition to the room if they ever consider upgrading. We'd have love to have been able to keep a bottle of milk and some waters cool while there.

A good location. Staff was helpful. Hotel was older, but clean & comfortable.
There was a private function with a live band which could be clearly heard in our room. The floor was vibrating. On the positive side, we were told when we checked in & the band finished exactly as promised, at midnight. Unfortunately there were some completely unsupervised children running the halls & screaming until about 2 in the morning. The rooms are small & bed was right beside the door, & walls were very thin, so we got very little sleep.
