This facility was conveniently located right by touristy stores, eateries, and the train station. The attention to detail with the food (dinner and breakfast) was impressive and the baths were clean. We arrived at around 5pm, checked in (staff there speaks English), informed Yuki-san (person in charge of our room and meals) the preferred times of our meals and headed out to explore the neighborhood. Given the times for the baths and meals, the experience is really about enjoying the meals provided and relaxing in the baths and the room because there's nothing else to do. Suggested breakfast time was 7:30-8am, which allowed an extra quick soak in the morning before the 11am checkout time (grateful for this).

We noticed a cobweb at the doorway of our room but it wasn't a big deal though.

Our room was beautiful, large, and cozy! Loved the amenities in room & our private hot spring tub. Beds were phenomenal. Hotel was very convenient to get to from the train station (3 min walk).

Breakfast was a bunch of mystery fish and there was no variety of other items - I wasn't able to eat anything at all. This ryokan is very expensive (I paid $356USD for 1 night) and I would have expected more/better food for the price. Also, the guests (families) above and around us were very loud (screaming children) until midnight which ruined the calm ambience while we used our bath outside. Also, all of the restaurants nearby closed very early (5pm) so we ended up getting dinner at 7/11 to eat in our room. This isn't a reflection of the hotel moreso the area.

The loaction is extremely near the train station. The staff is nice and helpful and the reception can communicate with English fluently. The dinner and breakfast are delicious and well served.

We booked a private hot spring room and the scenery is excellent outside the bathroom. However, the hot spring is a "weak" one and it just feel like normal hot water. If you have tried some hot spring with different color in Japan before, you should know what I mean. Personally, I have tried a blue color hot spring in Yufuin and the water make your skin smooth like silk. This is the only disadv. of this hotel and it acted almost perfect in other aspects.

We booked the Japanese style room with breakfast and dinner and had a great experience. Staff very attentive with meal preparation/service and bed set up and takedown. Multiple onsens to enjoy and though we did not book the private ones, there was almost no one there when we went to the public ones. Great location by the Hakone Yumoto station as well.

Would have appreciated a picture description of the different dishes we were eating, wasn’t sure what a lot of things were even though there was a menu written. Other than that, nothing!

Great location. We walked out of Hakone-Yumoto Station, went down the lift, up the street for about 5 minutes to reach the property. The rooms were beautifully clean with a great view of the Haya River. Our room had a genkan, a sitting room, dining/bedroom, dressing room, a shower room and separate toilet. Shampoo and soap are provided only by request since everyone uses the onsen. The breakfasts and dinners were delicious with an incredible variety of food. The portions were small but there were so many different types of food we actually struggled to finish it all. We had two lovely staff (Yoko and Yuki) who served us on separate days and they did their best to accommodate us english-speaking guests, patiently introducing each dish and how best to enjoy them. Definitely great for experiencing the local offerings and Japanese hospitality. Two onsen are available, one indoors and one open-air. They're allocated to different genders at different times so do take note of the timings. There are also private onsen available for booking.

The open-air onsen was perhaps a little too open, with a clear view of the building across the river, although there are sliding shutters you can draw to cover the view.

If you are looking for a traditional Japanese experience, Hakone Suimeisou is a great choice. Breakfast and dinner can both be included in your reservation and the meals are set up in your room. There will be a woman assigned to the room that will serve these meals. Yuki was assigned to us and for that we are grateful. She was wonderful! From gently reminding us to remove our shoes, from explaining the food that is served, to making sure our kimonos were correctly worn before we headed to a private open air mineral spring onsen in the hotel (also wonderful). The entire staff is very friendly. Enough spoke English that there were no communication issues. We stayed two nights, then left our luggage with them while we headed to climb Mt Fuji. On our return day, we were set to arrive back at the hotel nearly 4 hours later than we arrived. They were able to accomdodate that and even went ahead and set up our futons for us (normally done after dinner) so we could rest after our climb. They are just so thoughtful. One note about the meals: while wonderful they are very traditional Japanese. If you're like us, you've likely not had much real Japanese food. So there were many dishes we were completely unfamiliar with. We tried everything and liked some things, while not caring for others. The meals are quite large, so there did end up being a lot of waste, which is unfortunate. But we did feel that they were a great learning experience.

Perched right next to the river, the hotel offers breathtaking views that create a sense of tranquility. The location is super convenient, just a 5-minute walk from the station, making it easy to explore. The onsen overlooking the river was a highlight, perfect for relaxation. Our package included traditional breakfast and dinner, which added to the authenticity of the Japanese onsen experience. We appreciated the variety in meals, with different options served on consecutive nights.

The hotel may not be new. The air con was very hard to control the temp, it was too hot and then too cold. the hotel is located in Hakone Yumoto, so be prepared to travel 45mins to reach attractions and sightseeing spots.

All of the staff were very polite, bringing things we needed before we even asked. The woman assigned to our room didn't have the greatest English, and we had virtually no Japanese knowledge, but she did have Google translate ready to go to make sure we could understand each other, which was very helpful. The private onsen we booked was sublime, the views in the area beautiful, the proximity to the train station made it easy to get to, and the overall experience was entirely worth it.

Nothing problematic with the place itself, the only warning I would give is that almost every dinner place in the area closed around 7pm and the 3 that weren't closed were too busy to busy to get into without an incredibly long wait. That was on a weekday, perhaps things are different on a weekend, but it would have been nice to have somewhere to go in the evening for a snack and drink.

The room is spacious and perfect for families, featuring a lovely view of a nearby stream. It includes a hot spring inside the room and another on the rooftop, which is a nice touch. The breakfast portions are generous. Additionally, the location is convenient, just a 3-minute walk to the train station, with an elevator that provides easy access to the bridge leading to the station.

The breakfast has fixed time slots of 7:30, 8:00, and 8:30, which may be too early for some travelers, and having more options would be better. The staff tends to be pushy, frequently asking to enter the room for cleaning and often appearing as soon as you leave. The toilet is near the front door, while the shower is at the back near the window, which is somewhat inconvenient but acceptable. The bathtub is smaller than expected, accommodating only one person. The rooftop public hot spring area is small, with only two pools. Although the breakfast portions are large, the traditional Japanese style may not appeal to children, especially since they don't eat raw fish or salad. Additionally, the overall cost is quite high, and there are better options available nearby.

Absolutely loved the cleanliness, loved the traditional Japanese rooms, with the tatami mat and the feel. They give you Yukatas to wear, and give you tons of information about what to do and what not to do around the hotel, very useful since we were feeling a little lost when we got there. It was absolutely wonderful!!!! The baths either public or private were amazing. The staff was super friendly! We had our dinner and breakfast served at our room and it was such an amazing experience, and although the lady that was serving it didn’t speak English, she made it such a wonderful experience with her smile and cheerful spirit! Not recommended for picky eaters since the food is traditional Japanese with a lot of different seafoods, meats, veggies and more.

Nothing bad to add!
