Very small hotel, conveniently placed five minutes walk from the station in a quiet back street in the centre of town. No staff are present but communications re: check-in were very good. The hotel made it clear that there was no lift and that the rooms were compact. The room and bathroom were very clean, and were, as the hotel stated, compact. The shower, also, was small, but it had very good pressure. Toiletries were fine and generous.

I didn't find the VERY low bed easy to get into and certainly people with movement difficulties may find the same thing. There was no room for a chair in the room, so you could only relax lying on the bed. Similarly, people who find stairs difficult may want to request a room on the lower floors, since dragging cases up to the third floor is not particularly easy.

The room was nice and clean and quite close to the train station. They offer free espresso coffee (not just the really bad 'blend coffee' you usually get) which is great.

The room is rather small for an entire family and it does seem a bit overpriced compared to other parts of Japan - but I guess that's because this is one of the most popular tourist destinations for people from all over Japan. We really struggled to find a restaurant nearby for dinner that would accept families. It might make more sense to stay in another town and travel from there to see the lake and other sights.

Perfectly situated in terms of distance to the station with just a few minutes walk. Check ins instructions via message were clear and accompanied with pictures, too. The rooms were spacious. I particularly enjoyed the choice of futon bed giving it a bit more of a traditional Japanese room, as well as the walk-in shower. Free Nespresso drinks in the little kitchen area were appreciated. I had forgotten a sentimentally meaningful piece of jewellery and was promptly alerted via message by the hotel. However, by the time I saw the message we had already checked out and had gotten back to Tokyo. I asked the staff if they would be able to post the item to the hotel in Tokyo as we were staying there for a few days and the very same day they had arranged for this. I ended up being reunited with the item the day after and honestly couldn't thank them enough - it meant the world!

There is no elevator - this was not a problem for us and we knew this, but it is something to be aware of. If you're coming with a rental car be cautious with the parking spots nearby - we ended up paying a fortune to leave the car parked for 10ish hours.

The hotel is a self-check-in unmanned facility, which is well organized and easy enough to access. It is very close to the Hakone Yumoto train/bus station, which makes it ideal for visiting the Hakone area. Our room was Japanese style with tatami table and comfy matrasses. The bathroom was unusually large, with a very nice and large bath tub, dimmable lights and a spa-like design. There is also a small (unlocked) closed for the luggage in case of early check-in or late check-out depot which was very convenient. Our room was facing a small street with no traffic and noise.

I have no major negative comments, the only thing that should be specified in the description is that the hotel does not have a "human" receptionist. Still, no problem at all because the check-in instructions were well detailed.

The location is perfect. Close to the station and shops in town. It was a nice example of a Japanese room and the Futons were like pillows of clouds. The owner stored our stuff in the room before check in. Thumbs up

It was a bit on the noisy side , thank goodness the town rolls up the sidewalks at 5 or the traffic would have brought down the rating. No elevator and only a small microwave without plates and given it’s impossible to find breakfast before 11 , this needs to be addressed. This is a small boutique hotel so you have to check yourself in

A two minute walk away from Hakone train station. Near restaurants and a 7/11. I thought the bed was extremely comfortable and it was large as well. The shower has very good pressure as well as temperature. Coffee machine in the hall.

There is no escalator I believe, I looked for one but couldn't see one. If I'm wrong please tell me and I'll delete this. This was quite a hassle for me, checking in the staff dealt with my luggage as I couldn't check in until later on but when checking out, I had to get my incredibly heavy case down two flights of stairs. If you have large cases, maybe ask to stay on a lower floor. Again if there was one that I missed please tell me.

The location was excellent, close to the station and many different shops and restaurants. The room, although small, felt big with the king sized mattress. It was clean and the amenities provided were good.

Even though the enormous mattress was nice, I felt having an actual chair and working station would be better. Also, the sink was the smallest sink I have ever seen! The bathroom was decently sized so I would have liked to have a bigger sink. It’s impossible to put all your toiletries on there.

Really close to the Station. Large family room on the 2F, so it was pretty easy to take the luggage up one flight of stairs. The coffee machines both in the room and outside was a really good idea. The microwave in the common room was a real blessing. I love how they had kept tissues next to it so that the guest could clean up any chance spills.

The shower room could have been a bit bigger. The temperature control on the shower was really unsteady with it often switching from too cold to too hot.

I liked the coziness of the room, Hakone was a nice, quiet place to relax. I was particularly impressed with the hotels ability to communicate through message (most others don’t reply) but they were quick, and even helped very well when I accidentally left something behind and were willing to help send to another hotel I would stay at. Overall.. amazing people who are willing to help.

Size of the room was spacious for 2 persons (it's meant to sleep 4 actually) and the location was perfect! Bathroom was huge with a bathtub (which was unfortunately not working well during our stay) and we appreciated the pyjamas and amenities provided. The Nespresso and capsules were very much well-received! Exactly as described - 3mins walk from Hakone Yumoto Station. And surrounded by many shops (do note that they close by 5pm so the area becomes a ghost town by evening). The photos of the room in the listing are exactly how it looks like. We were also told beforehand that this room is on the L2 (so we planned and packed our bags strategically for the movement of luggage). All the rooms at this accommodation are either on L2 or L3. L3 also had a small pantry and refrigerator to store items. Fuss-free check-in and check-out process, we did all ourselves with the instructions provided and did not see the staff at all.

The storage for luggage and bags were in an unsecured compartment that could be accessed by guests from the L1 restaurant (as they use the bathroom on L1).
