The rooms were spacious for japanes standards, well equipped and clean. The hotel staff was very friendly, attentive and helpful. However, there was only one person at the reception who was able to communicate efficiently in english language.
The breakfast was not really appealing for us. We expected a european or continantal breakfast. For these standards it was poor. So we decided to skip it. Much to less continental european food such as baguette or toast with cheese, ham etc..- Compared with other hotels we visited in Japan the communication was difficult because the reception staff was not able to communicate efficiently in english (with the exception of one person). Walking distance to the next subway station was much longer than expected.

We loved the size of the room - very specious with enough room to open both of our very large suitcases. The bathroom was spacious and a great tub. Amenities were replaced daily and quailty was fantastic. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and would return without a doubt. The beds were firm but easy to get use to. All the staff were very helpful and accomidating. Hotel has luggage forwarding services which the staff organised.
Location wise train station is approx. 10mins walk but connects to various lines. Maybe be something to consider depending on plans and group dynamics.

A nice peaceful location with quite a few options to eat and drink around the hotel. The hotel had a cafe of its own, which looked quite good, though we never really eat at hotels we stay in. 2 easy to access stations, Onarimon is a 4-6 min walk, while Shimbashi is around a 10 min walk. Both Tokyo tower and Zozo-ji is really close and makes for a nice walk. Tsukiji market takes around 30mins to get to on foot, but we enjoyed the walk and built up quite the appetite. The property is well taken care of, very polite staff, the room though a bit small was comfortable and exceptionally clean, the daily room make over is real bonus here. 1899 specialises in Tea and I would recommend to all tea aficionados to give It try.
I found the beds a tad bit stiff, but after the 2nd night, you get used it. I wish they had an in-hotel laundromat too.

love the beautiful and clean rooms, the staff is helpful and kind. the bed is very comfortable and I love the selection of tea in the rooms. it's my third stay at this hotel and I think it's a gem
When I went to eat the delicious buffet there was Chinese tourists letting their sick child cough all over the food, the child was just standing and coughing for several minutes on everything. it was disgusting. As well they were yelling and being disruptive so it could not enjoy my breakfast. I had to ask the staff for food that had not been coughed on, on previous trips the breakfast was one of my favorite parts of the hotel so I would like the staff to to enforce more rules on bad behavior of such guests.

Perfect location! It is in Shimbashi which is a quieter neighbourhood compared to other popular areas. It's peaceful and quiet in the evenings, with a nice residential vibe in the daytimes. Its surrounded by yummy local eateries and bakeries. It's a 10-15 min walk to major train stations and subways. And 15 mins from Ginza itself. The staff are very hospitable and helpful. They were able to help us with many things like laundry, and luggage transport to our next destination. Their free tea service is also great! I recommend making the most of it. The hotel has a light, modern vibe balanced with a touch of peaceful Japanese traditional styles. The room is small but slightly larger than your Japanese hotel chain room sizes. It's well equipped and comfy.

The hotel and staff were extremely accommodating. The hotel was filled with quality furnishings, and is very quiet and clean. The bed was comfortable, and blackout blinds so efficient we willingly slept in past 10am everyday to rest our tired legs. This is our third trip to Japan. Minato was a decent base to explore some less touristy areas while revisiting some favorites.
Minor comments The room faces a business building full of windows. I suppose one may need to close their blinds to prevent awkward encounters, but we are here during holiday season and never saw anyone. Train stations are about 10 minutes away. Between the hotel and train stations is a busy fun area, especially for working professionals. There were a number of girl clubs for men. The neighborhood does not feel seedy at all, but a couple with a young child is not its target audience. We ended up spending all evenings except the first in different areas to explore the rest of Tokyo.

Room was spacious and very clean. I liked the location even though it was a 15 minute walk from the shimbashi station. I enjoyed navigating the restaurant streets where all the office men would go to. There's a great bakery that sells koroke by the Family Mart down the street which is about 4 minutes away.
In general it was a great stay. There was one staff member that was unpleasant. That was disappointing but it's ok.

The hotel is clean and lovely. We absolutely love the design, the vibe and the breakfast. The bath salt is wonderful, and the tea corner is such a relaxing experience! Staffs at the breakfast area and tea corner are polite and helpful!
The elevator was super busy in the morning but we were almost late for breakfast, so we used the stairs that we saw a staff using. When we reached the ground floor, we discovered we could not lock the gate so we went to the reception and let them know. The staff at the reception was shocked and told us we were not allowed to use the stairs. I felt like I have done something wrong. Maybe a sign can be added near the stairs so the guests know we should not be using it.

The hotel room was super clean. The staff where so friendly, and helpful to all our needs. The hotel breakfast was a lovely way to start the day. I loved staying at the hotel 1899 and would definitely go back. I loved how clean the rooms where, and the hotel was really calm and lovely. we stayed in august, so very very hot, but the hotel was amazingly air conditioned. quite close (10 min walk) to Shinbashi station which was great. I loved that they labelled things vegan on the breakfast and had the breakfast each day, was lovely.
I am vegan, so perhaps a few more vegan options - though was grateful for the labelling in english for the vegan food. the room was a littttle on the small side - if there was a little space between the room and the bathroom that would be ideal but not that bad overall!

I absolutely loved my stay at the 1899 Hotel in Tokyo—this was my third time staying here, and it continues to impress me every visit. The service is exceptional, with the staff making sure you feel welcome and comfortable. The hotel itself is extremely modern, with a minimalist and aesthetically pleasing design that creates such a calming and sophisticated atmosphere. One of my favorite touches is the complimentary tea service during check-in. You can enjoy a delicious matcha accompanied by wagashi (Japanese sweets) to start your stay on the perfect note—it’s such a thoughtful and unique experience. During my stay, I also enjoyed the complimentary breakfast, which offered decent options and added to the overall value of the stay. Another highlight was the green tea-scented amenities, including shampoo, shower gel, and body lotion. Not only did they smell amazing, but they’re also available for purchase at the hotel—a great way to bring a piece of the experience home with you. The location is also very convenient. While “central” in Tokyo is relative, it’s well connected by public transport, making it easy to get around the city. Overall, 1899 Hotel is a fantastic place to stay in Tokyo, blending modern design, thoughtful service, and little luxuries that make it stand out. Highly recommended—I’ll definitely be back again!
