Great location. Close to all attractions and restaurants. We had beautiful view of Constitution Dock.

Being city based it can get a bit of noisy traffic in the mornings. On our last night the room next door decided to hold a party that went till all hours. Staff took action after we complained but thought security would have been a bit more vigilant.

Really great hotel. Gorgeous views, room was great, staff were really nice. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back!

Cant fault it!

Our room was large and spacious with an amazing view over Constitution Dock. We were able to watch the boats coming and going all day. At night the lights around the area were beautiful. Recommend getting the river view room. Our included daily breakfast was lovely, a good selection on the buffet. We also had the Afternoon tea in the Atrium with friends, which was just superb, a very attractive selection of sandwiches, cakes & scones with jam and cream. A fantastic location with amazing staff. The hotel location was very close to everything, just a few minutes' walk to shops and Salamanca Place. Try the fish and chips across the road.

The only thing that was disappointing was the false fire alarm at 2am. We were on the top floor and had to walk down 10 flights of stairs. We are in our later years and this was exhausting. It turned out to be a false alarm, probably someone smoking/vaping in their room without any consideration to the hundreds of other guests. It left us shattered and fatigued the next day for our long journey home.

I liked the Atrium bar/restaurant. We made a few family catch-ups there so didn’t have to travel far. The beds were really comfortable. The room was spacious and had everything we wanted. It was nice to look out of our room and see a good view of Hobart. I loved how it was so close to everything the hotel was so nothing was off limits to us. Our flight was leaving later in the day so was really happy to be able to have a late checkout then wait in the Atrium for a coffee before we had to leave.

Was a bit disappointed to find out we couldn’t order breakfast on the morning. We had planned a ‘breaky’ in the room to start the holiday off but when realising at 10am there isn’t that option we had to scramble to Salamanca to find a place. Also arriving back from swimming around 9pm to find the room service dinner service had closed and as someone who is gluten free the options on the classic menu was very limited.

I absolutely loved the way the staff treated us! Travelling with kids can be so hard but the staff were so lovely to the kids. They went above and beyond helping with luggage, managing the lifts etc. They gave us presents for the kids christmas day which was a lovely touch! Location was amazing. Great proximity to everything you could need without having to drive anywhere. The food options within and around the hotel made it such a fantastic spot to easily feed everyone. Beds were so comfy! The pool was a little chilly for a heated pool but still a great touch. We would definitely stay here again.

It's clear the hotel is older, but they've done a very good job keeping it well-maintained and clean. The room was standard, but tidy - and the water pressure was among the best we've ever experienced! The gym was well-equipped and our daughters loved the heated indoor pool. The hotel was conveniently located near the waterfront (great for a walk!) and shops/retail, enabling us to walk to a few errands the morning of our departure. Everyone we encountered at the front desk was over-the-top kind, doing everything from sorting out our parking to helping us with baggage and acquainting us with the area. What an incredible introduction to that friendly "Tassie" culture!

No complaints from us!

The location is very convenient, close to the pier, nice restaurants, the ferry that takes you to MONA, close to get into the bus tours around Hobart and Mt Kunanyi. The rooms were cleaned every day and the staff was very friendly. The gym is small but it has most things that you would need. The pool was heated and undercover, so it was really nice to go for a swim.

there is some noise as it sits between two main roads but it's manageable. We had the bad luck to have our room in between two families that had small children and the kids were noisy and the parents had fiery discussions. One of the machines to do leg press didn't work, and it didn't even have a sign to say it wasn't working.

The hotel staff were the best I've encountered on my travels! The hotel itself I couldn't have asked for more. ✨️ On my birthday night, I joined a friend at Tasman Restaurant and hotel decided to put our 3 drinks on the house for the night. This topped off my holiday and made me feel very special! 🥳 THANKYOU Hotel Grand Chancellor, you exceeded my expectations on my first ever trip to Tassie! Breaky was the best also👌

I would love to have free parking if staying in such a quality hotel, as I'm on a lower wage and single. I paid quite a bit for 4 nights, so be lovely to not have to pay another $20.00 a night for parking under the hotel Ive paid for. HOWEVER, a positive was they dropped it to $10.00 a night for me. Thank you so much. 🙂 Don't mind paying that much for my room if treated so well, like they did.

Location was excellent. Staff friendly and extremely helpful. Quick and easy check in and out. Room was beautiful. Bed super comfortable. Bathroom luxurious and modern. On retrospect I think booking a wharf side room rather than city side would have been worth the extra as the wharf view was amazing and I was a bit sorry I had decided to save the money and not book it. Hotel was close to wharf where there were great restaurant choices and also to the city. The tours left from the wharf less than 5 minutes away. The Sky Bus from the airport was reasonably prices and stopped just outside the hotel.

There was nothing I didn't like - should have booked the wharf view room.....shame.

Large comfortable room on the 17th floor with great views over the city. The height made the difference and being on a corner enhanced the view in two directions. For a very busy hotel the staff were very accommodating and friendly.

I was surprised to still see a shower over bath, albeit a very shallow bath. I find it incredible that there is no lift to the car park (it is only 18 easy steps, I was told) which doesn't help if you have someone with physical difficulties, and even lugging your cases up those "18 easy steps" is not much fun at 80 yo. I know it is pretty much the same everywhere, but $20 for parking on top of a $250 tariff seems excessive.
