The hotel is a nod to days gone by. Beautiful and historical. The building has no lift and over 40 stairs to reach reception. But the amazing and accommodating souls who work there carry your bags for you.

My only complaint is that our windows didn't open.

Very close to the central train station. Decent room, decent breakfast. All staff members were very kind and helpful.

The stairs are a killer. After 3 days, the stairs became the biggest enemy.

We loved the location in relation to where everything around the city was located.

Walking up the staircase. To be fair, when I booked the room it was acknowledged that the stairs and lack of elevator was a reason it tends to not book up, and why prices are cheaper than other options in the vicinity. But that didn't make it any easier. While I didn't mind it too much, it wouldn't be a hotel I could recommend for my parents if they wished to visit despite everything else being great.

The location was central and very good! I recommend the area. That was the first reason I booked this hotel. Rooms were clean although very small. Bed was comfortable. The staff was helpful. They even brought breakfast in our rooms the last day due to departing very early in the morning. Cute breakfast area and nice coffee.

Not so important but good to know before you choose this hotel. No elevator and very very upright and narrow stairs. If you have a big suitcase that would be a problem. The breakfast is very basic and not that fresh. The lighting in the room is not bright at all and the most important for me was that the window in the room could not be opened.

We expected the twin room to be really small, but luckily it wasn’t. I had doubts about bringing a large suitcase, but fortunately there was enough space for everything. We also had huge bay window, which made the room feel even more spacious. The staff were super friendly and helpful - there are people who assist with the luggage, which was a nice bonus. The location is good. There’s some street and canal renovation going on nearby, but it didn’t bother us at all. It’s about a 7-minute walk to the nearest tram stop and another 7 minutes by tram to Central Station.

If you’re unsure about booking this hotel — just check the photos of the stairs and rooms, and keep in mind that it’s a good price for this part of the city. Don’t expect a lot from the breakfast.

I had a small room with two beds, and a small bathroom, but with everything needed: internet, water cooker, fridge, tv, ventilator, desk, chair. The hotel is on the second floor of a monumental building overlooking the Westermark and WesterChurch. The breakfast room is beautiful, and the breakfast very good. Overall an excellent price-quality relation,

You have to climb a few steep chairs before reaching the reception. You should bring some cash as they require 10 Euro deposit for the key.

Cute little hotel in a good location, easy to walk to city centre and access to public transport. Staff were accomodating and safety was clearly a top priority as you had to hand your key in each time you leave the property, which I thought would be a hassle but was actually a smooth process. The provided breakfast was small, but an added extra.

The rooms were quite small, and the stairs to the top floor were crazy steep, although they did have someone help us with our bags on the way up which was lovely. The hotel is slightly pricey in terms of accomodation as a whole but on the cheaper side for Amsterdam.
