Nestled along the picturesque shores of Lake Wakatipu, Lakeside Backpackers Hotel in Queenstown is a gem that offers more than just a place to rest your head. Upon arrival, I was greeted by the friendly staff, who went above and beyond to ensure that my check-in was seamless. The reception area exudes a cozy charm, with its rustic decor and stunning views of the lake. The accommodations at Lakeside Backpackers are nothing short of exceptional. I opted for a shared room, and I was delighted to find it clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully decorated. The bed was plush and inviting, guaranteeing a restful night's sleep after a day of exploring Queenstown's myriad attractions. One of the highlights of my stay was undoubtedly the breathtaking views that greeted me each morning. Waking up to the sight of Lake Wakatipu shimmering in the sunlight was a true delight, and I often found myself lingering on the savoring the tranquility of the surroundings. In addition to its idyllic location, Lakeside Backpackers offers a range of amenities to enhance your stay. The communal areas are tastefully furnished, providing the perfect setting to unwind and socialize with fellow travelers. Whether you're enjoying a cup of coffee in the backyard, there's no shortage of opportunities to relax and recharge.

Was hesitant to come here after seeing the reviews but I think they might be a bit out of date. The front door has a secure lock, the individual bedrooms don't lock, but there are lockers for just a deposit if you need them. There were also sockets close to both bottom and top bunks unlike some of the reviews I've seen. Location is good, right by the water. It feels more like a flat than a hostel, so it's quite cosy.

Top bunk wasn't high enough to sit upright on bottom bunk and the place does look quite plain and maybe needs a bit of tlc

The hostel was excellent. Everything was clean (sheets, blanket, kitchen, bathroom), the bed was comfortable, no problem with wifi, there was a heater when the days were cold, and the recepcionist Deepak was really nice when gave me a hand with my luggage (it was heavy) up stairs. And the view of the lake from my room was stunning.

People who arrived. I stayed in a mixed room, so you already know you must respect others who share the same space (common sense); however, some guys from X country farted and laughed like they don't even care about that. Apart from that, smelly feet. I needed to open the windows many times. Sorry, but next time I will stay in a female room, as some men are disgusting and stinky.

The manager Depak was amazing, he went above and beyond to help us. We had a last minute change and he made it work well for us. He was so friendly and courteous. Thanks to him even though a friend arrived due to flight delay from Hong Kong, into Queenstown 6 hours late, he made things work for us, because he contacted me to check on our arrival at the accommodation.

The Kitchen was not so clean but everywhere else was clean. The tea towels were beautiful and clean.

Amazing view to the lake, I could enjoy nature just on the other side of the street. Kitchen was quiet and clean, also with a view. I wanter to stay in a quiet place and it was perfect for my expectations. Bedroom was confy and clean. Also I arrived late and they had organized everything so I could still check in without no one in the reception. Location amazing, very close to the busy streets.

If you're looking for a busy place and make many friends this might no be the ideal hostel for you. The showers are very tight, if you're big that might be uncomfortable.

It is soo quiet. Has nice views. Easy to cook, to sleep. In reception people was nice, Deepak was very kind any time I need something. I would say this place is for people that wants to take a rest of the classic busy hostels and just go to sleep and do it well.

The shower is quite small. After that all is good. The tranquility could it's a good thing but in the common room I suggest to put some wall picture or something to give energy to the atmosphere, maybe some music. If this place find the way/space to make the people meet up would the nicer.

I liked that it was near the lake, clean, bedding provided with comfortable bunk beds. Crockery, cutlery and cooking things provided, heaters that worked, checked in late with no issues. Easy walk to town along the lake, lovely view of the lake and mountains. Helpful staff. Very good price. Clean bathroom. Divided into floors with different purposes. Dormitories were on one floor with own kitchen, bathroom etc.

One bathroom with a shower, toilet and basin but didn't seem to be an issue due to the small amount of beds on that floor.

It is clean, the view is amazing and it is the beds are comfortable. The staff was very nice to me when I had problems with my payment. There is a social area with sofas where people hang out. There is a kitchen, but I didn’t use it. The showers were hot and good pressure, but they don’t offer shower gel, shampoo or even a tower, you have to have your own.

Only.minor.but.no towels available on arrival, this was sorted by helpful staff thr following morning. The lounge maybe needs a TV but not a major The kitchen probably needs ds a cappuccino machine :)

The staff sent above and beyond helping me & explaining everything. They made contact when I arrived & made my arrival there very easy - even though I was late. Very friendly & helpful
