Very nice location and facilities overall
The kitchen is lacking a few things. Not enough drying towel for the dishes nor cleang rag to wipe benches and tables, so people use the kitchen towel to clean, but then we have to use them again for drying the dishes. Also, the kitchen did not get clean after diner so for anyone waking up early it's as dirty as the night before from what it seems. Nothing that bad, just a few very important misses for the price range for just a bed. Very constraint space to access the lockers so people leaves theirs luggages in the middle of the room. Pots, pans and ustensils in a very bad shape.

Nicely located on the lake, and only a short walk into the centre of Queenstown. I felt safe walking back to the property at night as a female solo traveller. Our female only dorm had its own bathroom, which was great. Staff were super kind and helpful- they had a supply of towels and hair dryers to borrow. And suitcases could be kept in a locked room after check out which was reassuring.
Our shared dorm only had one tiny bin, which was unusable as it filled instantly. Sounds minor, but it meant transporting rubbish around the building. Our dorm was at the top of a couple of sets of stairs. Again, not something that can be fixed, but worth considering if you have lots of luggage/mobility issues. I had just one suitcase with me, so managed fine. Very limited parking on site. I managed to park close by on the road, though!

This was the cleanest, most organized, and modern hostel I’ve ever stayed at. All the staff were very kind. The facilities are up-to-date, the kitchen is well-equipped and very tidy, and the beds have curtains that offer great privacy. There’s a locker under the bed for your luggage and another one for valuables. It was freezing outside, but the accommodation was perfectly warm inside. The location is excellent. I was able to walk everywhere. The view from the side of the building adds a special charm to the hostel. I stayed for six days, and the price was way lower than what it should be for everything they offer. To be completely honest, if I had to mention one thing to improve: the TV could be more modern to allow access to streaming platforms, and it would be great if they promoted more social interaction through events.

This was our least favorite of the Haka House properties we stayed in, though the location is excellent—right on the lakefront and walking distance to town.
We booked both a King Ensuite Room (with lake view) and a Budget Twin Room. Unfortunately, the King Room was quite cold and the heater wasn’t sufficient for the space. The bathroom had no heating either, which made things uncomfortable in winter. The Budget Room was basic but fine. The shared kitchen was often crowded and less tidy compared to other branches like Wanaka or Tekapo. Also, you’ll need to carry your luggage up a flight of stairs before accessing the lift, which could be a problem for some. Overall, not terrible, but this location could improve its heating and kitchen management.

The spot in front of the hostel is wonderful. I could go out every morning and night to see the lake and nature. About the facilities, I specifically liked the drying room. I've never seen this kind of room before in any hotel or hostel. It was very useful and I liked a lot. I visited the room for my wet items everyday. Don't worry, it was not that stinky. A room for 6 I stayed and the bathrooms are also mostly neat. The shower booths are sometimes very wet though.
I like the drying room, but I feel like things that have been in there for a long time need to be cleaned out. Except that, nope, in Queenstown, very good.

We really enjoyed the lcoation which meant we were outside of the bustle of Queenstown centre and meant we could enjoy the views when walking along the lake. It was about a 10-15 minute walk into the centre. Clean and comfortable rooms. Well equipped kitchen, lounge room and washing facilities. Although expensive it was in line with Queenstown accomodation prices.
We paid for a twin room for a few nights and a dorm for the remianing nights. The dorm was much more spacious and had more storage than the twin room - even though it was cheaper. We should have just gone with the dorm for the whole trip.

Very comfortable clean room. Staff were very helpful.
Unfortunately, it was not as pictured: I didn’t have the balcony and views of the lake were obscured by trees and dirty windows. Noise from people walking across the room above carried. It would have been nice to have complementary milk, coffee and teabags as this was a private room away from the supermarket. A chair for the desk would be good too. It is farther from town than expected. For a disabled person, the “five minute walk” is more like 15-20. I’m glad I took an Uber to the cable car as the slope to the entrance was extreme! Taxis will charge a minimum of $15 to get back from town: Uber $10.

This is the best hostel I have ever lived at ,most clean and tidy ,there were numbers of bathroom and toilets so that didn’t had to wait on line .charger port and light right on top of bed .Another amazing thing was there was curtain in each bed for privacy .staffs were so amazing .I don’t know his name but he was so kind enough to give me shampoo when I told him I don’t have one and was always greeted with smile and welcoming attitude . I already miss Haka house .clean ,spacious ,fully equipped ,right in front of the lake . Best hostel I have lived at 🤩 Can’t wait to be back again ! Love from Australia 🇦🇺

The kitchen was well-equipped and clean. It seems like guests were conscientious about tidying up after themselves, and the staff did an excellent job of maintaining the cleanliness.
One of the fridges had a milky substance spilled inside that leaked out to the floor, and a sign indicated that fridge cleaning only occurred on Thursdays and Sundays. The spill was present on Monday, and staff had simply placed towels over it to absorb the liquid. This left the fridge with an increasingly unpleasant odor until it was finally cleaned on Thursday. It would be beneficial if the cleaning schedule could be more flexible to accommodate unexpected spills.

Very nice hostel directly by the lake, 10 min walk to downtown. Spacious kitchen and common area, nice rooms with the standards of the other Haka Houses. Parking available to be booked in advance at 15NZD per day - there isn’t much parking available in the street.
I stayed at several Haka Houses in NZ and they’re all great, this one however was very loud in the evening! I couldn’t fall asleep until late as other guests were talking loudly and running in the corridor and through the stairs. Maybe some signs to invite guests to be more quiet and not run close to the rooms would be good.
