I had a delightful stay at this hotel - at first glance, it appeared unassuming from the outside, but once inside, I was pleasantly surprised by its impressive interior. The historic building and its annex, along with a charming garden, added to the overall appeal. My room was spacious, and the bathroom was a standout feature - I've never had such a large bathroom in a hotel! The room was equipped with everything you need, including a coffee maker and hair dryer. The staff was friendly and accommodating. When I requested an iron and ironing board, they promptly brought it to my room.

From start to finish, there were no real inconveniences - this hotel really exceeded my expectations. I can wholeheartedly recommend this hotel to anyone planning a visit to Porto.

Super hotel just a few steps from wineries and cellars with port wine, nearby there are restaurants, bars in the Villa Nova de Gaia area and across the Luis I bridge also restaurants in the Ribeira area of Porto, parking is not directly at the hotel, but only a few meters from the hotel, modernly furnished, comfortable rooms, a pleasant atrium where you can sit with a glass of port wine, very helpful staff... simply a great hotel for exploring Porto, I highly recommend it...

Breakfast is served in a small room, which implies that everything, including food, is in miniature form and volume, but replenished regularly, breakfast was tasty, but the selection could be a bit wider...

This hotel had everything. A bar, garden terrace and beautiful lounge accessible at all times. Our room was spacious with a palatial bathroom. The building facade hid what was a stunning architectural oasis within. A blend of old and new, very tastefully and respectfully done. The breakfast every morning was wonderful. But above all, the staff would do anything they could to assist, answer questions and advise about the wonderful city of Oporto. It will be the yardstick for all other places we stay. Amazing.

There was nothing we did not like.

This beautiful hotel exceeded our expectations, it was beautiful, exactly as shown in the photos and in fact the only anomaly was that the room was even bigger than it seemed in the photos. Spotlessly clean, the comfiest of beds (the only comfy hotel bed I've found in several years of travelling), super quiet and fabulous location in among the wineries on the Gaia side of the river. Walk was just a couple of minutes either to the bridge or to the water bus across the Douro to the Porto side, and we were so glad we stayed this side. The Ribeira waterfront directly opposite is a crowded, tacky, noisy tourist trap and we could not see the attraction to staying there which most websites suggest. We walked everywhere from the Caleway, and a pleasant 10 min stroll takes you right up into the centre of Porto. The staff were charming and helpful, value for money c/w other hotels was excellent, and we wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. We stayed in one of the suites on the top floor, which had two sets of french doors to a wraparound balcony with views over the wineries, river and across to Gaia. Absolutely stunning. We didn't book breakfast, but the honesty bar was a nice addition!

The only thing which was very slightly lacking was the quality of bathroom amenities. These were just a generic brand, which was a shame as there are such beautiful toiletry brands based in and around Porto which many of the other hotels provide.

We have stayed at the Caleway four times and this stay was as good as the first. We have a puppy now and we requested the ground floor for easy access outdoors, which they provided. When we arrived, there was a little dog bed, water and food bowl, which was very sweet. The room was clean and comfortable, as usual. My mom came to Portugal to visit us and she was staying in a second room we had reserved. As this was her first visit, they honored my request of an upgrade and she stayed in the beautiful historic section with a great view of Porto and the Ponte Luis I bridge. She loved her room and slept like a baby. The breakfast was delicious, as usual. My husband and I prefer to stay on the Gaia side when we come to Porto, as it has a more relaxed vibe and a great views of the city.

Nothing we didn't like. The only recommendation I would have is for the rooms on the ground floor to have direct access to the garden. It would be nice to walk out of your room into the courtyard vs. walking through the hotel. Just a suggestion, nothing that would ever keep us from staying again!

We liked the hotel with its ambiance and kind and helpful staff. We really loved the good taken care of buffet breakfast tabel. the hotelroom has good beds, a view on the garden and was nice silent. When we come back to Porto/Vila Nova de Gaia we will choose this hotel again. It lies close by the river, restaurants and easy walk distance across the beautiful 'Eiffel' bridge to Porto.

It is a little hard to find the hotel in a small one way road, we drove by it two times ... until we decided to park the car up the road walked back and asked a nearby hotel, which had a glass entrance and door open. Caleway hotel has parking places in a nearby covered parking lot. The helpful hotel staff helped us find the entrance of the parking place.

In general, i am satisfied with the hotel.I was impressed of the mix and max architecture, the combination of old and new! The breakfast was ok but there was no vegan options and not many fresh fruits, fresh juice etc. Please provide decaffeinato epsresso as well. Nowadays, a gym in a hotel is needed.

Beautiful hotel, great helpful staff, even before we travelled. Our room view was exceptional, over the tiled rooftops across to the river, cable cars and Porto. The old and modern parts of the hotel are beautiful individually, and merge incredibly well. Great breakfast selection especially the pastries. Coffee good. Hot items made by the lovely chef himself who also serves you. Just right in terms of a light breakfast offering before heading out to the numerous restaurants on the river front for some small plates.

The wall in our Superior room had a substantial crack down it, generally marked up from wear and tear, and there were only 2 coffee pods available per day but i'm sure the staff would have accommodated any requests.

Staff are very welcoming and helpful, it is a small hotel with a far more personal touch than larger chains. Beautifully renovated building, the design in the hotel areas and rooms shows excellent attention to detail and is well thought-through to make it comfortable. Room quite spacious, with nice facilities like a pod coffee machine (reception provide a kettle if you would like one). Comfortable bed. Very good shower. Quiet overnight (room on courtyard side). Breakfast was a good selection of items such as several fresh pastries, bread, meats / cheese and some cooked food (eggs, mushrooms and very nice bacon). Well located for wineries, good bars and restaurants, river cruises.

The ventilation causes a noise from the vent in the room during the day, we asked and were advised it stops at 6 pm, which it did, so is not a problem overnight and it did not start early in the morning, but if you do need to be in the room during the day it may be slightly disturbing, though it’s not loud.

The cosy and nice hotel, refurbished with taste, is in a very central area of Gaia but, nevertheless, is very quiet, cosy and offers a temporary parking space to unload your car + reserved ones to park for 15€/day. Staff is extremely nice, professional and helpful: a big thanks goes to Paulo, Ana and Rebecca, and the two staff from the breakfast room. Breakfast is varied and rich; mattress extremely comfortable and water offered. Main attractions are at walking distance and the area is extremely well connected.

Shower maintenance should be enhanced: there was mold all around the inner frame and this is not up to the standard of a 4* hotel.
