The location and the room layout. Perfect for a weekend away. Very central and the staff were very helpful and advised us where to park.

The continental breakfast. We had to ask for more milk, bowls and orange juice it wasn't manned very well at all. Also the main menu wasn't as it stated on the website which was disappointing. There was also a sewage smell in the room late evening and early morning coming from the shower cubicle. The skylight that was advertised had shutters on them that couldn't be adjusted, but it had a electric blind too 🤔

Spaciousness of the apartment. Check-in was smooth. Provided parking was great, although a bit of a tight squeeze to get into it. Suggest you arrive with a small car! Location was also good - may not have been in the 'thick' of things, but was close enough to walk. We had the best pub meal while in the UK at the "Bear & billet" just down the road from the apartment - it was in Lower Bridge st and the apartment was near the top of Duke St.

The WiFi address we were provided with did not exist, so we could not access the internet. When using the phone in the room to contact the front desk nothing happened - seemed like the phone did not work either. Since we were only staying for one night I did not bother to walk back to the main hotel to get this resolved. When on holiday, the last thing you want to do is run around for things you expect to work

Everything was as expected, all staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was really nice and modern but the temperature was very warm, and air-conditioning wasn't really up to standard as we couldn't move the temperature gauge to low. I can't rate the food as we didn't eat at the hotel, but the location was perfect central to all bars and restaurants and only a 10 minute walk to race course if you intend to spend a day at the races. Although the room temperature was too warm for us this hasn't put us off and we would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to be in a central location. 😀

The hotel was incredibly well placed being within a very short walk of the city centre, river and walls but yet was very quiet (may be different in season as our room overlooked the garden). It was a bit of an initial shock that the loo could be seen from the bed but in fact don't worry, it is all part of a clever design where the ensuite shower door acts as the main door - as I said, very clever. Continental breakfast only but don't judge - the variety of cerials, nuts,, fruits, meats, cheeses, salmon, bread, pancakes and crumpets was astounding. Parking is just round the corner in an APCOA park but at a well reduced rate. All in all exceptional value for money.

Staff were a little sparce occasionally but we were well out of season so was happy to track them down and have to say they were very helpful, cheerful and with a good sense of humour. We had half board but the menu was a little limited, maybe do a couple of days alternating menu would be worthwhile but, although the choice was limited, the food was good.

Good location within a couple of minutes walk of the centre of Chester and near some very nice restaurants. The room was very nice , unusual round bed and there was a twin shower on a mezzanine level. I was a little concerned reading reviews about noise levels, especially as we were staying Friday night and our room was directly above the secret garden, however although we could hear the music late into Friday night it wasn't that intrusive, especially when. the wooden shutters on the window were closed.

Reception being behind the bar is a bit awkward depending when you check in or out. Lack of cooked breakfast bit dissapointing but not a big deal considering how many breakfast venues there are in Chester ( The moorings would be my recommendation, but worth reserving as is busy). Noise levels might be an issue for someone who want conplete peace and quiet at a weekend in summer, as highlighted by by some other reviewers but certainly didn't impact our stay. The main negative for me had been. highlighted by others and it's the glass toilet door and in the room we stayed the shower side. as with the shower being on the mezzanine level the fact the frosted glass doesn't go to the floor means from the bed looking up you get a clear view of whoever is showering.

Great looking place, definitely not your corporate "bed for the night" mundane affair. Our attic room was quirky and does the shabby chic very well and is a good size which is why I booked it, great double shower! The lower floors have an old charm, high ceilings, huge staircase and grandiose feeling that you just don't get in new buildings. Great bar. Location is perfect being as close to the centre as you could possibly need, racecourse is a short walk if you're going that way. Parking ,whilst not on site, is a third party multistory and very close, we had no problems. The parking spaces aren't the biggest, but mid-week, there were plenty of spaces on the upper floors. Cost was £10 for 24 hrs at the discount rate. Staff very friendly on check in near the bar.

Breakfast is continental only, so be aware if you're looking for a cooked brekky, you'll have to find a cafe nearby (there are plenty). Staff were distant at breakfast,not clearing tables quickly and restocking the food. This could be improved. On the whole it feels as if they're trying to run with the minimum of staff and it suffers for it,but the prices are good for chester considering the rest of the hotel. The attic room had a toilet separate to the rest of the bathroom and was tight on headroom - not ideal for taller people, especially if drunk (I was totally sober, honest!) At six foot, I managed ok though so don't let it put you off.

We recently stayed in one of the apartments for my mums 60th Birthday. The apartment was amazing very clean, spacious had all the facilities that were needed and more. It was walking distance to the city centre and a bonus was having space to park the car. I definitely will be staying there again. The staff at the hotel were very helpful and friendly also the atmosphere in the hotel/bar was very friendly. We also had the afternoon tea in the restaurant which i would highly recommend.

Nothing.... the only thing I would say is that it wasn't clear on booking that the apartment wasn't on the same site as the hotel. It wasn't a problem it just would off made it a little easier as we had unpacked the car with suitcases which then had to moved to another site.

The location is excellent - close to all sites and for shopping 👍

The breakfast has changed not very hygienic - we did not eat anything because none of the food was covered and was to open - the bread had to be cut and no towel to cover the end of the loaf was not provided so people were coughing into their hands and using the same hand to hold the loaf while cutting - found a couple of long hairs and people coughing/ sneezing on/ close to the cooked meats from other guests -the center self serving island is really not fit for purpose - shame because the cooked breakfast used to be great this is not provided anymore - R

The hotel was in a great location, the decor was as its name suggests odd but we loved it, think Alice in Wonderland & you won’t be far off. We stayed in the Newbrook luxury double, round bed, quirky but excellent room throughout. The staff, especially Libby on reception & the bar staff were brilliant. We had no hangers in the wardrobe which was quickly resolved by Libby within minutes, she also was full of information regarding the surrounding area. Parking is approx 5 minutes walk away in Pepper Street, which is probably the worst car park I’ve seen, not the hotel’s fault, the spaces & turns so tight, God help you if you drive a large SUV. The price is £20 a day but you get a discount card from the hotel, our stay was £60 but after using the card it went down to £28.50! There’s lots of great places to eat on the doorstep, La Fattoria, (Libby’s recommendation) literally across the road brilliant, if not a little loud, 2 courses & Prosecco £90, The Opera Grill around the corner, indulgent to say the least but couldn’t fault the surroundings, food or service, wine upto £5k+ a bottle more than my 1st car 😂 how the other half must live, 2 courses & Prosecco £170 but was a special occasion & worth the splurge.

If you have mobility issues this isn’t the place for you, you’re met on arrival at the front door by one of the steepest sets of steps I’ve seen, due to the age of the building, in parts over 300 years old, lifts are not an option, there is apparently ground level access at the rear but this could be signposted at the door, maybe? Breakfast is continental only now & although there’s a good selection sadly, £30 a couple per day didn’t represent good value to us.

This apartment is massive and has 2 massive double beds . There is a TV in both bedrooms with full channel package on both. No need to sign into the TV either (like you do when you use Netflix ect ect). There is a TV in the lounge/dining area too. One bedroom has an ensuite bathroom with a shower and the other an ensuite bathroom with a bath and a shower above the bath. There is a fab coffee machine there too with pods provided. You get a free parking space alloted to you and the apartment is right near the town centre .You book it thru the main hotel site

it was a cold November night and an extra blanket on the sofa and esp on both beds would have been amazing but there is central heating there and it was warm . The beds have duvets on them and plenty of pillows
