We stayed here two years ago for Christmas and loved it so much that we came back again. Perfectly located for some of the best restaurants and shops and a Christmas morning stroll around the cathedral. The hotel is beautifully decorated, especially at Christmas and has been well maintained over the years. The staff couldn’t have done enough for us, especially as I had my elderly dad joining us for Christmas Day lunch. They helped us with accessible arrangements as he’s in a wheelchair and went out of their way to make sure we were looked after. The food couldn’t have been better, especially with a busy service on a day everyone expects so much, and the cocktails were amazing. A special thank you to Becky, Chantal, Ben and the incredible bar man who were all working on Christmas Day. We can’t thank you all enough!

There isn’t anything not to like !

We stayed one night on a Friday in January so the price was great! The room (Courvoisier) was spacious and grand - the highest ceilings I've ever seen in a room and the biggest and best bathtub! Since it was January the hotel seemed very quiet and mostly empty so we had a very peaceful and restful stay. I had seen in a previous review that the street and radiators were noisy but that was not the case for us in our room, we had an excellent sleep (and I'm a light sleeper). The cast iron radiators were turned off and instead there were plug in radiators which kept the room nice and cosy even on a freezing January night. The bed was incredibly comfortable, the mattress seemed of good quality with just the right amount of softness.

The hotel is completely cashless :( We wanted to get change to leave a tip for the cleaning staff but were unable to as they do not keep any cash - very unfortunate for staff who could benefit from a nice tip. There were also minor nicks in the walls and paint, stains on the TV table, the rollup window shade was quite wrinkled. None of these took away from the lovely feeling of the room which I adored - very comfortable, cosy, grand, clean.

Great looking hotel in a great location in the city area, Bubble Bar is a lovely place to unwind and get a drink/meal, staff very attentive

We had our dog with us, and fully understand dogs are not permitted in the restaurants, our breakfast was served in the bubble bar, we felt isolated as there were no other people around us, the most important thing was that when we wanted tea or pastries we had to walk through the main restaurant and carry our tea pot cups then attempt to pull the doors open, ( not a safe practice) all that was needed was to set up a little station in the bar area! Also as the bar is quite a way from the kitchen, our food was not very warm. Just needs some thought for customers with dogs.

We stayed for our daughter’s graduation and the property is perfectly placed in the centre of town, close to many bars and restaurants and just a short taxi to the Uni. The staff treated us so well. We were made to feel special from when we first arrived 8.30 am and while the rooms were not ready( we had not expected it to be) they looked after our bags and dress, while we had a great breakfast. When we got back later we found the we had both our rooms upgraded to suites and a free drink to help make our stay even more special. The rooms were huge and I’ve never seen such a big bed, which was very comfortable. There is a ‘shabby chic’ vibe to the rooms, it is all very well appointed. The bar is also lovely and great choice of wines and champagnes

We have stayed many times and really can’t fault anything.

The hotel is a lovely place and I love the boutique styling. It's very clean and has a great bar and dining areas. The staff are lovely and the food is very good.

The suite I stayed in on this occasion needed some maintenance, the aircon was very difficult to turn on or off (needed assistance) - a big deal for me with hayfever and sometimes asthma and the shower only provided tepid heat due to a faulty valve it appears, the extractor wasn't working in the ensuite and a few scruffy and loose fittings. I was surprised as I have stayed here before and that stay was excellent and the room top notch. I'll be more circumspect before spending this much on a room rate in future here as clearly maintenance has not been fully cared for throughout in a consistent way. It was disappointing 😕

Room was very nicely decorated, staff were super friendly and efficient! No noise at all from other guests which was fab. Was also let in 2 hours early by the lovely front desk lady so I was extremely grateful for that, I have a number of health issues and was in agony from travelling and walking so was very very grateful!

Room was definitely extremely overpriced, our room was less than half what we paid on any other day which was really disappointing but we needed the room so paid anyway. We were told there'd be a nespresso, slippers and robes but there weren't which made paying over 2x a little bit frustrating.

Beautiful building, good loaction, friendly staff, nice option to forgo room cleaning in return for free drinks, nice comfy bed, beautiful toiletries.

The entrance doors were really heavy and at the top of stairs, so difficult to negotiate with luggage. Whilst the room was large and well equipped it felt soulless. There were a couple of large walls (above the bed and above the bath) that would have really benefited from a big picture.

Hotel du Vin Birmingham offers exceptional accommodation in the heart of Birmingham. It is within walking distance of the railway station. The hotel itself is beautifully appointed and the breakfast is wonderful.

The only issue is access to the property which is via steep stairs with an outward opening door. This is difficult to navigate with a suitcase and would be nigh on impossible for those with mobility issues. A doorman to assist in getting inside the property would be of great benefit.

A very favourite hotel of my partner and I. We have stayed at the Hotel du Vin in Birmingham many times over the years. We especially like the location, yards from Birmingham Cathedral, and the heart of the best of central Birmingham, yet in a very quiet street. The hotel itself is a former Victorian eye hospital, which has retained much of its beautiful historic architecture, both internal and external. All members of staff offer a very high level of service - friendly, thoughtful and efficient. Special mention for a kind gentleman on reception, who helped carry our luggage to our room, and for an enthusiastic and kind and knowledgeable young gentleman who served our delicious meal in the hotel bistro when we were at that moment the only occupants of the dining room because of our early arrival. We also made regular use of the excellent Bubble Bar, the hotel’s attractive bar. The room was as always excellent - spacious, with an amazingly comfortable bed and excellent bathroom. Although we know the Hotel du Vin is a hotel chain (we recently stayed at the lovely Hotel du Vin, in Cambridge), we especially appreciate staying in the Birmingham branch, where a warm Welcome always seems to await us.

Nothing. Everything was as always excellent.
