Greeting was amazing, a lovely chap gave us a very warm welcome at the entrance steps as we were going in, he said Welcome to the Grand Hotel whilst he was helping someone else with their cases, he asked us if we wanted him to carry his bags, we said we were OK and he took us up in the lift to our room, very friendly. At reception another friendly man welcomed us and asked if we wanted a drink of water from the tray, he went and got us one each. The receptionist was quite friendly. We were early (12pm) but our room was ready. The hotel is beautiful and clean. Room very big and bathroom huge. Nice big beds, good mattress and bedding. Toiletries of shampoo, conditioner and shower gel provided along with body lotion and 2 robes. Tea/ coffee making facilities with coffee machine and fresh milk in fridge. We had booked Madelines for lunch and it is a beautiful room with very friendly attentive staff. The lunch was lovely too. Good breakfast choices and buffet. I was pleased they had decaf tea.
On checking in the receptionist said breakfast was not included which I thought we had it included, £250 is a bit hefty for one night without but we paid an extra £18 each and she took a debit card payment, however at breakfast the next morning the lady who checks you in said we were not down as we had not paid. She rang reception who confirmed we had, this was embarrassing ! We had the full breakfast, my bacon was not really cooked enough as the rinds were soggy, the sausages were overpowering as too much herbs. Black pudding was very strange, very dry as though too much oats. The hose on the shower was leaking. I did tell reception on booking out and she just apologised. On checking out there was confusion again about payment, we took a time to get it sorted.

The Grand is so welcoming. Soon as you enter you are hit by its class. The whole hotel smells divine. It's so serene, calming the staff aren't running around they seem to be so calm and reassuring. When we checked out I had a few shopping bags so the receptionist very kindly placed them all into a beautiful Hotel bag and also offered us a few bottles if water as it was a hot day. Will be returning . Friendly staff, beautiful surrounding and a relaxing stay
Nothing to not like.

We have stayed here a couple of times. It is a beautiful building. The room was lovely & kept very clean & tidy during our stay. Head down to the bar & try some of the cocktails, you will not be disappointed, they are superb, as are the staff. Great decaf coffee & a lovely hot menu to choose something from, lots of fresh juice options too.
Check in was slow.... The bed base was sticking out the side of the bed which wasn't great for a 5 star hotel. Tried to push it back in but no joy. Unusual not to see some dairy free yoghurt on offer at breakfast, although they did bring me some each day once I requested it from the kitchen & it was delicious.

Room was available early. Room was lovely. Staff were all great.
My only niggles would be that their was a wedding on at the hotel and the outdoor garden area was out of use to other guests as it was reserved for the wedding also the music on the evening for the wedding was VERY loud and kept us awake until it went off. Granted it did turn off at a fair time but we had had a busy day and we're hoping to get an early night sleep but that unfortunately didn't happen. Not worth moaning about at the time but maybe worth asking if they have an event on that could maybe keep you awake if you like us are after an early night.

It was vibrant clean and every staff member was helpful. The breakfast was an expensive addition. The parking was a reduced £16.60 per 24hours. The floors are quite secure. The building is old but newly carpeted. A beautiful staircase to walk down. A huge ballroom with a very worn carpet but absolutely stunning decor. They hold many events including something called Beauty Beyond. They have a bookable bar in the style of a private club. The breakfast was the most disappointing. Expensive and was served so no chosing. The room was a good size with a fridge. Heating worked well. It lacked pegs for long outdoor coats which were too wet to hang in the wardrobe. Bed very comfortable lovely smelling bath and handwashing. Everything very clean. The location was great for restaurants and the museum and canal. The Cathedral square was visible from our corridor. Very comfortable hotel.
Steps up to the front entrance. Breakfast too expensive and the continental choices were limited. No salad or soft rolls.

We liked that the hotel was warm and inviting, even on a cold January day. It felt luxurious, with a lovely smell and ornate features. The staff were friendly, and we appreciated the good security for accessing the floors. Our room was spacious, clean, and well-styled, with thoughtful touches like a yoga mat. The TV was high-quality and perfectly positioned for watching from the bed, and the side table with two chairs was handy for doing a bit of work. The bed was large and firm—comfortable overall, even if slightly too firm for my preference. Complimentary bottled water and fresh milk for tea were nice additions. Breakfast was excellent, and the restaurant was beautifully designed. The hotel felt like a well-maintained, 5-star property with a great balance of modern luxury and classic elegance. The location was upmarket, quiet, and just a short walk to the city centre. For £160, including breakfast, it was fantastic value.
The only dislike was that the bed was a little too firm for me, though it was still comfortable overall.

As always a lovely warm safe stay
I had booked a number of nights on arrival on Sunday I was booked into my room no issues however was then woken at 2am to water coming into my room and on all my stuff I was moved rapidly to another room once again got settled in for that room to have a power cut I was then moved to another room which had a leak in ceiling . While I was moved quickly it was still a inconvenience and made my Monday quite long . It would of been nice to of been contacted by a senior team member just to offer apologies or a bit of explanation I was told each morning by reception staff my manger would speak to you however over the 4 night stay that never happened .

Beautiful building inside and out. Gorgeous columns in the entrance and stairs. Lots of very well trained staff. You never had to wait. Afternoon tea was delicious. Room was small but well done. Bed was extremely comfortable, large tv. Tea and coffee and little bottle of milk in the fridge. Bathroom was beautiful and the shampoo etc smelled Devine and left my skin so soft. Towels were huge and fluffy. Shower large and very good. Good aircon and heating. Double double glazed which you needed with the noise of the Christmas market. Doors locked on way to room for added security.
The original features had in many areas been covered or removed. Not unique enough and more bland boutique than Grand. The afternoon tea was lovely but a bit of a cacophony of flavours. Champagne was very expensive and I would have preferred Prosecco with it. The room service cheese toast or made me feel sick it tasted like it had been fried. I had a bad stomach all night. The next night I woke up at home with blinding headache and threw up. Stomach is still bit dodgy.

Exceptional staff, the reception staff went above and beyond to ensure we were happy with our rooms. They were very professional and kind. The rooms were exceptional on the 4th floor with beautiful views. The Madeleine bar was wonderful and a great place for our graduation celebrations. The rooms were very spacious with beautiful bathrooms. Would definitely recommend this hotel.
Initially we were given rooms on 5th floor and we found them to be quite dark. This was quickly and easily changed by the reception staff which we were very grateful for.

the best thing about the place was Abdul the porter. he couldn't gave been more helpful and polite if he had tried. I would have liked to thank him before we left but he wasn't around.
breakfast was a bit disappointing for the price. I would have expected a pot of tea instead of a top up from a jug. I'd expected toast with the breakfast and the table laid. maybe I'm just old fashioned. but it didn't feel as luxury as I had envisaged. I hadn't realised how many stairs the place was littered with nor that tea or coffee wasn't served in reception where it was going to meet my friend. my limited mobility makes walking any distance tough so having to take her back down to Isaacs just for tea was annoying.
