Glad we had the upgrade... will request Room 503 on our next visit! Extra space and additional window on the side corner for increased light was very helpful for those borderline claustrophobic! Brekkers excellent - as is the dining room. Delightful and very professional serving staff. And even better this year with the scaffolding and polythene sheets removed from the windows. Location of course couldn't be better! Delighted that the old Midland Hotel stained glass windows have been preserved! All credit to those responsible.

a general comment - not a criticism.. Perhaps a history of The Midland Hotel on display somewhere (presuming there is one). It's been so beautifully upgraded over the years since my husband was a Birmingham university student and a regular attendee at the Radio Club. It would be lovely to see how it has developed.

I liked that the rooms had good amenities including bathrobes and a Nespresso machine. The rooms were a good size with comfortable beds and pillows and a gorgeous bathroom. The room was very clean. The hotel staff were also very nice and helpful.

The room was very stuffy with a musky smell especially in the bathroom. I didn’t like that we couldn’t see outside or be able to open windows. I wasn’t told this when I called to book this room. The room was overly warm. Although there was a fan it wasn’t enough with the musky smell.

The location is perfect for a city break and within walking distance of car parks, train station, shops and restaurants. On arrival the staff were polite and welcoming and allowed an early check in as the room was ready. The room was extremely spacious and clean, with a very comfortable king bed. The room was beautifully decorated and contained a large sofa, robes, slippers, toiletries and coffee machine, additionally there was a birthday card, water and chocolates on arrival as I had requested a slightly earlier check in due to it being my husbands birthday and I wanted to decorate the room... a perfect stay!

No fault of the hotel at all but there was a very loud and aggressive couple on the same level as us. They argued into the early hours of the morning and it spilled into the corridor. Lots of shouting and moving of furniture. This is not the hotels fault.

I loved the location of the hotel. It was easy to get to major sites and shopping. I loved that the room had a bathtub and that the bed had extra fluffy pillows. Breakfast was delicious. (I did not explore any other facilities.)

I was unaware that I needed to put my keycard in a slot near the door to make the lights work. Once that was clarified, I could use the room better. I had to shift the tv to face the bed as a large mirrored closet was directly in front of the be--this , too, was minor.

On asking on arrival for a quiet, high room, the front desk supervisor put me in 506 on the top floor, where there are only six rooms. I think it was an upgrade as the room was very large, with a table and two easy chairs as well as the usual furnishings. The en-suite was also large with separate bath and shower and lovely Elemis body wash and shampoo. There was a large TV, an (empty) mini bar, tea (Birchall's) and coffee, and a desk. Windows could be opened. The bed was very comfy indeed and I slept well. The architecture within and around the building is stunning.

There were no power sockets close to the bed, which was a nuisance. The window didn't quite close properly, so I did hear some noise from the station, but it blacked out well. There seemed to be air con but I didn't need to use it. Inner doors slam loudly, which was enough to wake me when it happened. The shower was powerful but the hose moved the head to a less useful angle when in use. The sink was nearly blocked as water drained very slowly indeed - this should have been picked up by housekeeping. On check-out, there was no-one around interested enough to take this feedback. I booked two rooms and my friend was offered breakfast in error, when I queried mine, it was removed from both of us, which I thought was unnecessarily mean.

Hotel is located in the center, welcoming and friendly staff, we stayed in a beautiful Suite room that is really spacious and very bright with large windows, the bed is very comfortable and very large, the bathroom is large including the foot shower and the bathtub to relax, there is also the Nespresso coffee machine included with various pods and free glass bottles of water, parking very well connected with the structure, a two-minute walk away there are various parking lots at cheap prices, if you come by car. Really classy and quality breakfast. Value for money I would say really above my expectations. I recommend anyone who wants to spend 1/2 nights in Birmingham to book with them for the location and the really great prices and the quality of their structure and for the very large rooms.

Everything was perfect in their structure from the room to the staff and the quality and price ratio

The room was incredible. It's by far the best room I've ever stayed in and the best value for money too. It was on the top floor, was massive, had loads of space, was brilliantly equipped. There was a safe, iron, hairdryer, bathrobes, fridge and tonnes of storage. Beautiful wardrobe doors that were mirrored. The location was also brilliant, right in the centre of everything. There is a tesco supermarket directly opposite and all sorts of bars and restaurants within minutes walk. It's also parallel to the main train station.

Breakfast- my only gripe on what would otherwise have been the perfect stay. I paid £18 for a bowl of porridge and a cup of coffee. I wish I hadn't bothered! Not only that, when I sat down I wasn't informed where the continental aspect of the breakfast was. I only knew because I overheard the people on the next table. I then had to ask again for my coffee, and I still only received it after others in a pot that was filthy, covered in coffee grounds.

Extremely clean in all areas . Breakfast was delicious service from staff was excellent. The room was extremely clean. Beautiful toiletries for you to use . Bedroom was spotless with well matched furniture . There was a safe for your valuables. Iron and full size ironing board plenty of hangers and spare towels. Bathroom was a good size with bath and separate shower . Tv was a good size kettle with tea, coffee and milk was nicely tucked away in a cabinet. And there was even a hairdryer. Beds were very comfortable. Reception staff were polite and very helpful. I would highly recommend this Hotel and would definitely stay again .

Nothing .

The staff were friendly and accommodating -they answered my questions in advance of my stay quickly and were able to ensure we got a bath as we requested. The room was excellent - large comfortable bed, suitable temperature, plenty of comfortable space and clean. The street was a little noisy during the day as it was busy and bustling but it died down as we went to sleep and we had no trouble sleeping. Breakfast was to a high standard, the cooked options were delicious and the continental buffet offered a range of options. The location is perfect for attending an NEC event and I will look it out in future, as the New Street Station was a quick and effortless connection (although this was disrupted due to the Rail Strikes).

I did not have any real or serious complaints. I was a little disappointed by the breakfast surcharge items, as it meant there was no real variety in the menu if you wanted to avoid paying £5 for an avocado or salmon to be involved.

Location - right opposite New Street Station with a tram stop immediately outside. Old world charm within and lovely modern bathroom with a proper bath as well as a shower head. Very clean and the bed was super comfortable. Plenty of options for food & drinks within easy walking distance - everything the city had to offer right on the doorstep.

The proper carpark was great - bright reasonably clean, modern and good value BUT there are two different car parks called "Grand Central" and as newcomers to the busy city we ended up in the wrong one. After checking in, we had to go out again and pay, negotiate Birmingham's one - way system and find the right car park in the end. It would help if the What Three Words location or a VERY clear map (with pictures of the actual car park entrance) were on the hotel website. to avoid unnecessary confusion.
