Great location, short walk from the train station and bus routes. So many shops for all your 24hr needs and a fantastic cafe for breakfast over the road. A few nice pubs about. Mattress was really comfortable even if the bed was wobbly. Great shower and nice quality towels and toiletries. Pub downstairs was cosy and top staff.

Not a criticism only a suggestion: the WIFI password, door codes and an Out of Hours emergency contact number could be printed in the room with the paperwork, would just save bothering the staff when they're busy serving!

For my short one night stay it was ok!:) The room was rather small and could have had the window a bit lower and maybe overlooking something else than the roof so that it could be a bit lighter - but can't complain! The bed was comfy, my room was clean, and there was the bus stop right beside the pub!:)

WiFi started to work only in the morning when I was about to leave, before there was no connection whatsoever... also it was pretty noisy because of the very loud music downstairs, even after 23:00...

The bed was very comfy which is a must for us. Kettle in room. Big towels. Easy access to come and go. We stayed a Sunday, Monday and Tuesday nights so noise from pub below was not an issue.

Didn't realise the noise from the main road outside our window would be quite so much though thankfully not enough to stop us from sleeping. Getting in and out of the bathroom was a bit of a squeeze! Also the steep steps outside would not suit everyone.

Great local pub with nice selection of craft beers. Nice atmosphere. Lots of local artwork displayed. Clean room, comfy bed, hot shower. Lots of restaurants/ takeaways in walking distance. Carpark behind is free 6pm to 8am

Noisy main road with roadworks going on in the morning, but quiet during the night. Bathrooms a bit small but right for the price

Spotless clean. ...organic fair trade clipper coffee and plenty of white granulated sugar for hubby tea. Generous wee pots of uht milk too!

Poor outside illumination walk to the room...it was 22.00hr when we arrived. Maybe a torch carried by the host would solve the problem. This is a minor observation.

I liked how rustic the place was, the room was perfect for our one night stay, liked the facilities in the room and everyone was friendly, the pub is nice to sit in and there are a few pubs in the area which is also nice.

The only thing was the toilet was a bit of a squeeze to sit on if your a bigger person

The Dark Horse pub itself is a very welcoming and warm place. The manager who checked us in was friendly and down-to-earth, which put us right at ease. We had a secure private entrance that was separate from the pub so that was comforting, as well as meaning we could stay out in Bristol as long as we wanted. The room itself was a good size, and pleasantly decorated. It was lovely and warm, with great solid wood furniture. The bed was extremely comfortable and a great size, with plenty of pillows and a soft duvet. The bathroom was nicely renovated with a good sized shower that had great water pressure and was very easy to use. The towels provided were very soft and absorbent too. Yes the pub is on a busy street but we weren't bothered by the traffic noise at all, and despite arriving on a Friday night, the busy pub wasn't too noisy either. A hairdryer with attachments was provided, as well as shampoo and conditioner. There was a good sized kettle with tea and coffee, with milk available to order from the pub (to cut down on waste). There are loads of cafes and there's an Aldi opposite with a Tesco a 1 min walk down the road so there's lots of amenities close by. We loved our short stay and would absolutely stay here again!

The only thing I can think of is the loo roll holder was broken. But it really didn't matter and didn't affect our experience at all.

Honestly booked this place as it was much cheaper than a chain hotel on the weekend, wasn't expecting anything amazing from previous reviews but it was lovely and clean, comfy bed, nice shower, stocked teas/coffees, friendly staff. Quick walk from lawrence hill station too. Will likely be back thanks!

There was a fan in the room so I could keep cool. I stayed on a Sunday night, so the pub downstairs wasn't noisy. Nice toiletries in the shower room & a big soft towel.

The car park in the road behind the pub is closed off with barriers & not usable. When I phoned the pub to inquire about parking, I was not told the car park was out of use. But the staff may have been unaware of the situation.

It was conveniently located to family and friends. The room was sufficiently spacious to have a comfortable chair for relaxing. The bathroom was very clean again with a spacious shower and quality toiletries.

As someone with some mobility issues the stairs and surface on the roof terrace were very slippery in the rain.
