Beautiful building, very clean. Beds comfortable. Every member of staff was very smiley and helpful. Attentive bar staff, even on Wales V England Saturday night! Cocktails are excellent. Central location yet extremely quiet, would definitely stay again.

Small thing, really, would have been nice to have a fridge in the room but only stayed one night, so not so much of a problem

Very convenient central location, and very comfortable bed. The staff were excellent. Room was roomy and impeccably clean. Peaceful and relaxing place to stay.

The infotainment in the rooms was poor. There was no way to connect personal devices to the TV to catch up on Wimbledon through streaming services. Not that we stayed to watch the telly, we spent nearly all our time out and about enjoying Cardiff, but it's something that was weird not to have in this day and age. Not a gripe, more of an opportunity to modernise. Would have liked a fridge for medications, we've become so used to staying in AirBnB's we just assumed there would be one in our hotel room. Our fault. We'll check more closely when we book our next stay away.

Stylish and comfortable hotel in an amazing location in central Cardiff. The decor throughout the hotel is tasteful. The rooms are nice. Staff are very accommodating. They upgraded us when our original room was quite noisy. I would always stay here when travelling to Cardiff.

Breakfast is ok. There is some choice, but I always end up eating the same thing because there isn't enough choice for my dietary preferences. Personally I would prefer some plain vegan yoghurt rather than flavoured with sugar in it. I'd also like some fancy granolas and different types of bread. This might sound picky but other hotels of this quality in the UK and Europe have far more extensive breakfasts available, so this is what I'd expect from the Parkgate too.

Central location. Beautiful building, very spacious. Room was beautiful although wooden floors, so slippers would have been handy. We did get some but had to ask. Spa was really lovely would definitely use it again and look at treatments next time. Staff were friendly and professional. Great atmosphere in hotel. Central location easy to get to castle, shops, bars etc but away from the noise.

Lounge area was too warm during the day. Breakfast took a while as they didn’t seem to keep up with topping up the flood. Waiting for eggs the. By the time eggs come, the bacon had run out. They need to sort this out as this is an expensive hotel and people should not have to stand waiting 10mins at the breakfast buffet. Room had a very creaky floor which needs a bit of attention. I would imagine the people above and beyond meet our room would have heard this.

Beautiful building. Excellent facilities. Clean. Fancy. Extremely comfy beds. Worth the extra money if it can be afforded.

Our previous stay in Aug 2024 , the staff member on reception welcomed me and my wife with a smile and made us feel a bit special. Nothing crazy, just a 1 min conversation about why we were in Cardiff, the occasion for our stay etc . Unfortunately our stay last night, the staff member was not as welcoming. Took zero interest, and couldn’t process our check in fast enough. It’s little things that make a trip special. Especially for a premium hotel such as this. And I didn’t get that last night.

Amazing location in Cardiff, right next to the stadium, Bute Park, the city centre. Room was really clean and well equipped. Staff friendly. The hotel is in a nice historical building. Excellent gym included in price.

Disappointing view from our room onto the stadium car park. Breakfast was also disappointing for the price of the hotel. There could have been more options on the buffet, and it wasn't all of the highest quality (the scrambled eggs were really dry and didn't seem fresh, for instance). We also had to wait quite a while to be seated for breakfast on some days and to receive our tea. They seemed understaffed. The wait also seemed unnecessary particularly after our first breakfast...we knew where everything was. We didn't want to pay extra for the spa. Again, paying this much for the hotel room you'd expect at least some time (maybe 2 hours over the whole stay?) in the spa as part of the price.

We stayed here for two nights for the Billy Joel concert. This is a wonderful hotel in a fantastic location. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the restaurant excellent. The room was very spacious with a large bed, and very clean.

This is not so much a dislike, but the hotel certainly took advantage of the fact that Billy Joel was playing and put their prices up accordingly. I certainly don't blame them for doing that, and it was our choice to splash out - we'd probably do it again. But my wallet felt it! We checked the prices for a "normal" weekend and those offered great value for money. We'd definitely come back here if we were staying in Cardiff again.

Great location, friendly and welcoming staff, clean and modern hotel with a great breakfast.

The only disappointment issue was the lack of communication with the Cardiff 10k. We weren't told prior to our stay to park in grey fairs NCP rather than Westgate NCP. We had to move the car when told at reception which cost £30 as we got to Cardiff earlier than when the room was ready. Unfortunately the discount code for Parkgate guest also didn't work for grey fairs NCP as the autopay function was down so was charged another £30 instead of the discounted £17. Just a shame as all of this could have been avoided if a simple email would have gone out to all guest staying the Saturday night.

Really lovely hotel but the staff absolutely make it - every single person I encountered was so friendly and went out of their way to help. I didn’t have to wait for anything. Lovely decor, very comfy bed, excellent shower and a good breakfast (including free-from options).

I did find that noise travelled in the hotel - reception offered me a £50 upgrade to a suite (which I did accept and it made a huge difference), but it would have been nice if the standard rooms were a bit quieter. Standard rooms don’t come with a fridge/minibar (I needed one for medication), but reception did offer to bring me one.

Staff were without exception top rate: courteous, warm, efficient, were the first to enquire (unobtrusively) whether I needed help, or there was anything they could help with. As an example only, on checkout I left a light jacket in my room; Ana on reception dealt with getting it collected and returned to me by post in (I can only say) an exceptionally friendly, understanding, courteous and efficient way.

There was nothing I did not like. (If I had been travelling by car, there is no car park and I know that nearby parking in Cardiff is very expensive; but the website makes it clear that there is no hotel car parking; likewise as to no swimming pool. ) Conversely I thought the cost of the room was extremely modest given the first class quality of the hotel and its location.
